is deviant art safe for comic books??...
As far as I know, yes. I don't see any reason why not.

post your own personal comic book on there?.. no copyright issues ?? ...hmmm... * goes back to searching*
You can post anything you want up there, but there's no mechanism that stops people from stealing the art/ideas. Be careful and tread lightly if you want to protect your intellectual property.
To fight piracy, try the following:
Don't post the entire work.
Don't post full size or allow downloads.
Enable the watermark feature.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
You said you were looking to do flash games. If saved in the .swf format they can't be taken or edited by others
Just to cover it: Deviant Art holds a unique (... "unique" ...) system for copyright that settles an arrangement that you [the artist] with hold all base rights to an individual piece of art that you rightfully and legally claim to be your own; and that so long as that [work] is confined on their servers they too have distributing rights to that [work] and hold litigation responsibilities to defend you as an artist legally that the said [work] does in fact belong to you and to assist in that fact if it becomes an issue and is maintained by them.
That's the lamens edition of the million page complex privacy policy they hold. To make it even simpler:
Anything you post is copyright - you. However, so long as its on their site they can promote it, use it, stamp it on a flyer, whatever they want. They just can't sell it for profit or release it to a third party.
However there have been some cases where say, as an example, you develop something that relays a certain company (like Pepsi or NVidia, etc. I know they recently held stuff for that). That company may channel through DA to contact you an arrange some sort of deal to purchase that work from you. Strange as it may seems some artists manage to branch into commercial work from the site. Its often quiet and disclosed, but it happens. There's a few other artists that have such renowned popularity from DA that their personal attempts to branch out have succeeded immensely because of the pre-existing fan base that extended into purchased products from the company that they transversely ended up working for.
So to answer the short question: Yes, its safe. But as was mentioned, for your own personal benefit: Watermark it and don't upload the full-size work. It helps you to keep a larger (and even better still broken down) image that proves its yours if the case were ever presented. Don't let the idea of thieves scare you away; remember, theft is the greatest form of flattery that no one ever admits to.
