So, what am I doing wrong here?

I'm working on editing some demos to create some screenshots for a comic, and I've run into some problems.
I am using Zloth's demo launcher to view the demos and Balshorr's editor to edit them. I can launch a demo from the list in client_demos with no problem. I can also edit any of those demos in the demo editor. I can save those demos with new names, as well, which is what I've been doing, in case I want to go back and make a different set of changes to the original. When I do a "save as" in the demo editor, it appears to create a new demo file. However, I can't launch that file with the demo launcher; it doesn't even appear in the list from client_demos. What am I doing wrong here?

Not sure about this one, I just saved a demo with Balshor's editor myself and it looks fine to me. Is it saving as a .cohdemo file, and did you check to see that it's actually been saved in the right folder?

Also, how and from where do I use the demodump feature to collect those screenshots?

when you demo dump, it should save all of those screenshots in a directory named "screens", inside the client_demos folder. Keep in mind this also takes a good chunk of hard drive space. As for the rest, are you asking how to compile that into a video?

Finally, I apparently encountered a bug in demo capture. I recorded a demo on the Cimemora tileset map with the underwater area of a character sitting on a huge rock in one of the side rooms. When playing back the demo, though, that rock doesn't appear. I assumed it was part of the map itself, but I suppose it could be an entity of its own. However, there's no command to spawn such a rock in the demo file. All of this makes me wonder: what is this rock, and why didn't /demorecord capture it?

That really could be anything. It might be a flaw in the map, the way it got recorded, or something that's just plain wonky. Or maybe it's the super secret entrance to a secret base filled with a lifetime supply of fresh grilled cheese sandwiches. But if you want to submit the location of said rock, along with the map, I suppose I could take a look at it.
open up a demo uve saved with the demo editor and hit save as. Make sure its not using unicode or whatever, it should b on like ANSI or somthing. Thats the only error ive eve encountered with demos

Make a copy of the original COHDEMO file you intend to edit, keep it in a separate folder, edit & copy over the original. One option. ;]

Thank you all very much.

I've run into the little glitch a couple of times myself. For some reason I haven't figured out yet, when you have multiple demo open, and switching between (Using the costume switch wizrd for instance) and then go to save the file, The demo editor sometimes 'forgets' to put the .cohdemo extension in. so what you wind up with is demox. instead of demox.cohdemo. The file itself should show up in an explorer window. You just need to rename it to have a .cohdemo extension.

From personal experience, the Cimerora caverns maps are just plain wonky. The stone architecture vanishes and reappears, the water moves around on its own, the whole thing is just bizarre. (Trust me on that one, when I filmed INCARNATE, it took I don't know how many tries to find an angle that WORKED.)
When you're doing the SaveAs, make sure you are putting the .cohdemo at the end of the filename, do NOT trust the FileSave to do it for you.
