Sketch for red lining

I had noticed the tail and right hand right off the bat, but not the nose. Now that I look at it more closely (and with less than a headache than I had) I have to agree about the nose.

Water wings... I don't think so, however the idea of more watery elements, maybe some spikiness to the tail (like a scorpion fish would be cool.

Other than that, I think you've got a really awesome picture. I like the flow and movement to her, it's really graceful, and the eyes are soft and feminine.

<smacks head > totally forgot bubbles , your right that is a definite add in and I think your right on the back hand too .

it really is alot easier trying to see what folks are jabbering on about with a red line

whats everyones take on the nose , I think I actually prefer BW's positioning

[/ QUOTE ]

Now that I see it, I agree that the new nose position seems to fit better.

Alas!

I was originally going to give her a few more watery themed adaptions but wasn't sure if that would make her too unrecognizeable

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, I guess I kind of assumed you were going to color it. Yeah, I could see that being a problem.

Hola mi amigos and amigas !

Below you will find a very rough sketch of Dragonberry Swimming underwater im working on .

I figured since everyone seems to be chomp chomp chomping at the bit to be amateur art critics id post it here for a red lining review

"Wait you mean I can't just drone on and on about whats wrong with the sketch ?"

well yes and no

I can't stop you from droning on and on but what your texting and im seeing are usually vastly different and I get bored after the first sentence anyways .

So grab a red pen or marker and go to town on the linked image
so I and the other forumites can see what the heck your blabbing on about .

If I get any bites i'll try to adapt the sketch to the general consensus

"Wait you won't automaticly change the sketch based on my awesome ideas ? "

nope but i'll at least consider it , well consider it if you post a redlined version, babbling on and on just means i'll bypass your ideas :P

You got a really nice weightless feel for sure and its a solid concept as well as solid anatomy work.
Id change the tail, it looks like its fit into the frame and unnatural.
I'd either use it to promote her movement more or let it drift off camera while promoting her movement.

Id do a redlined version but I dont have the time, besides id just post a blank page with an eraser on it to break your chops a little because you make it so fun!

ps

Im not allowed to play with you anymore or the mods said they will toss me in the time out box .

they didn't actually threaten to suspend my posting privlages just that they would toss me in a box , place a gallon jar of scorpians in said box and nail it shut for 24 hours .

I think they were joking ......maybe

in either case im on my best behavior for at least the rest of the week .

Im actually sorry to hear that, I never really interpreted you as being serious!
A little jousting is good for the soul in my book, I honestly had fun with it and didnt ever take you seriously.

What sucks about the internet is tone and cadence get completely lost and picking on eachother for fun can often be interpreted as being a total nuclear meltdown.

Im from NY and im not a young guy - so in the future just imagine what im saying sounds like tony soprano funnin' with his buddies during a pool-game, thats really the only way I can explain how I come across in real life.

Anyhoo - sorry you got ribbed by the mods, I sure as hell didnt report you.

Good sketch, finish it!

Seriously don't worry about it <.< >.> I enjoyed myself ,

I often get warnings when im dangerously close to getting a mod smack or two so im way ahead of the curve in regards to knowing when to lay low and act respectable or back off of a given topic or poster .

I definitely plan to finish this up but I wanted to give everyone that was intrested a chance to chime in on feedback before making changes .

I think i've done three of these red line critique sketches on the forum where I have to turn off my ego and argumentive nature and see things through others eyes .

9 times out of 10 they catch things I miss because ive stared at the sketch too long ((I put the thumb on the wrong side of the hand once and totally didn't notice ))

Im guilty of losing perspective after looking at something too long myself.
Thank god my wife will tell me when something is off.
I used to live in a bubble where everyhting I did was loved by my buddies, but I never improved - they didnt mean any harm and honestly loved the stuff, as they do now - but I was sheltered big time.

This is a cool excercise your doing, im a big fan or rubbing out ego and making the art #1, not the artist.

Post that sucker when your through!

I think every artist has this problem because we get accustomed to looking at our own images. The most effective way of dealing with this is flipping your image horizontally to check for errors. I am guilty of not doing this as often as I should, but when I do, sometimes it is surprising how things I didn't see before become immediately noticeable. I don't know who started it, but it goes way back to the old masters. Even Leonardo Da Vinci used this technique by holding his drawings against the mirror to get a fresh look.
