Tips for Expert Roleplayers From a Novice

There are many dedicated roleplayers on the Virtue server and I'm glad of it .I must apologize though I hate when someone blabs on and on carefully labeling every comment ((OCC)). What bugs me even more is when the Tank or team leader give all their instructions in double parenthesis .I'm sorry but Rambo and Batman are still in character when they say, "Wait here ," or " I'll distract the guards ."
1 . Labeling every out of character comment is not roleplaying .
Using double parenthesis or preceding every comment with OOC and OCC may be good form but it is not roleplaying .
2 . Your toons should be aware that they are in combat with heroes or villains .
You should be able to request backup , identify a dangerous target and say , " That was a close one " in character . Your super might have their own form of expression but many tactical terms belong in your characters vocabulary .
3 . Paragon City officials have classification for super types and power levels . Archetype and level can be discussed in character or out depending on your comfort .
I apologize again . Continue RPing

ummmmmm that sort of thing probably applies to in game roleplaying, but this is fan-fiction and story writing RP stuff...anything OOC is something that we are discussing between authors not something our characters would say, and we usually dont say our archetypes because sometimes in RP, the lines are not clearly drawn, maybe we imagined them as somthing different and picked the closest thing in game.

When we use the ((O.O.C.)) concept, we usually tend to use it for above-board, as opposed to on-board, activity. The "players" are interacting, not the characters.

There's a difference between

((Guys, I'm gonna be out for a few weeks...))

and

((Okay, so what I'm doing here is kicking Bob in the chest, but I wanted to make it sound better than that...))

Sometimes, we use the parentheses and out-of-character moments to clarify the actions of our characters, but only if requested. Most, however, don't clarify, and their cryptic answers only further mystify the readers as to what's going on.

Additionally, this forum is VERY small. You have a higher chance of winning the powerball than running into one of us in-game. That and we don't really tend to 'in-game' RP.

Unless they've been doing it behind my back.

Eh, Devious and I tend toward it sometimes, but largely only as commentary.

"Oh-ho! Did you see the way that guy got bent backwards? That can't be comfortable."

Yeah, I roleplay ingame. Not as much as I'd like, since it's hard to bounce stuff off of a non-cooperating group, but I try.

Also, I'm entirely guilty of what the OP is talking about. Look! A distraction!

I think I've RPed in-game all of three times. And half the time I forgot to use that silly double-parentheses thing anyways >.>

... mind you, it's usually pretty obvious, since my characters tend to have an entirely different mode of speech from myself :/
