Hello everyone,

I have recently (bin about 3 months) been playing with the drawing tablet etc ive started attempting to draw my coh charas etc.

Im gradually getting betta at it i use photoshop primarily and open canvas as secondry i know photoshop very well but i dont mind saying i still get the problem of getting decent straight lines from both programs.

Is there an easy way to draw smooth stuff? am i doing somthing wrong? any help on these matters would be apreciated i have draw two characters haha still getting the hang of it though i suppose.

Any help anyone can provide id love
Thank you people

Regards,
Nittix

heh. Funny. Try to draw from the elbow and shoulder instead of drawing from the wrist.

Hahah i need to work on my arms they can be quite chunky its all about perspective and im still trying to get mine sorted lol colour is also a pain i cant get the right tones lol! as you can see in my forum picture lol the nose sticks out liek a sore thumb lmfao

Well ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM in and then everything will be big and then you can draw with the whole arm and not just your hand!! Really it does make a big difference in making smoother longer lines. Something I need to work on a lot myself!

Also how big is your tablet?

Hahaha thats the thing i do zoom in :P i have been playing around with pressure sensitivity too the fader the lines are the more it works like a pencil quite hard finding the correct amount however haha i hate creating drawing brushes :P

Erm its a bamboo fun tablet maybe about the size of an A4 sheet

Okay but how big is the actual -drawing- area is what i mean? 3x4? 6x9?

*looks at dimensions... looks at Nittix's location* Ah makes sense.

No that doesn't help this poor yank :P
(What? I'm from Texas! why am I calling myself a yank! *hangs myself*)

Ok so math... it's 2.54cm to an inch... so that's...um. 21.65 cm x 13.59 cm... so thats...um... ... damn you imperial measurements!

8.5" by 5.35"?

Okay that's actually pretty sizeable!!! Good size.

Lmfao damn thats good math you got cookin there your gonna have to give me math lessons some day.

Well one thing at a time :P thank god it is haha but yeah i dunno i just have a bit of trouble with straight lines a friend told me she draws a line and then rubs out the small edges that are incorrect she says it takes ages but gives the edges a crisp inked look :P

Was just seeing if there was an easier method then learnign this lol!

Well if you need an absolutely perfectly straight line, you can't go wrong with Photoshop's Pen tool!!!

Assuming you are using Photoshop of course...

Posted

Hahah yeah i do nah its not straight as such that i need i just want a nice curvy/straight line that doesnt look all pixellated the pen tool is very limited that way

You're using the wrong brush then.
I mean using paths and such. You set the right brush and it doesn't look pixellated at all. You probably need to find some good tutorials!!!
