Operation: Mayhem! (Story)
Mommy? She thought as she turned around. She felt lucky that she didnt say it aloud because it wasnt her mommy. It was her former cellmate the Arctic Amazon. She was almost a foot and a half taller than her young friend. Her hair was an icy blue and flowed down passed her shoulders magnificently. Her costume was a subtle mix of white and grey and clung tightly to her body accentuating her voluptuous and womanly curves. Through her blurry vision and the misty glow she seemed to Corsage less of a super villain and more of a goddess. The green teen couldnt help but to reach out her hands and charge towards her for a hug.
Whoa, whoa! Arctic Amazon said taking a step or two backwards, Rein it in there, princess. Your nose is bleedin and some of us are wearing white.
Corsage stopped and hung her head. She was crying and bleeding and terribly embarrassed now. Her stooped head saw Arctics large boots step closer.
Cmon. Lets have a look at you.
Dutifully Corsage raised her head and looked up at her towering companion. Arctic gently held Corsages chin and gave her a cursory examination.
Its not broken.
The Amazon produced a cloth from under her collar. Like most in the spandex set, she lacked pockets. Corsage used it to clean off her face, careful not to start crying again. She returned the cloth once she was certain all the blood, tears and snot were gone. Arctic Amazon discarded it on the ground quickly as if it were crawling with lice.
Is it still bleeding? Corsage asked.
No. You want me to make you an ice pack?
Arctic Amazon conjured a handful ice cubes from thin air, a small demonstration of her power.
Corsage thought about walking into a room full of costumed villains with an ice pack on her nose.
No, thats okay.
So what happened little girl? Why do you gotta pester the wildlife?
ME? They started it!
Arctic Amazon gave her a disapproving, motherly look. She didnt really want to hear about it.
You know where were going? Arctic asked.
Kind of. I mean I know the address-
Arctic Amazon sighed. Cmon. Follow me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is it. The Arctic Amazon proclaimed.
Corsage was underwhelmed. The way they were heading, she was already over the idea of a huge castle with laser turrets and a moat of acid, but this was still a disappointment. It looked like a saloon from a spaghetti western, only no horse trough and a steel sliding door instead of swinging wooden ones.
You know whos place this is? Corsage inquired.
Arctic Amazon nodded as she knocked on the door. Its Diver 8s hideout.
Corsage didnt recognize the name. She was about to ask what kind of stupid name Diver 8 was when a muffled voice from behind the door spoke.
Go away! Were closed. It shouted but barely audible behind the thick door.
Apparently Arctic recognized the voice. Open the door, Toy Boy before you catch cold.
There was a ponderous moment of silence before the Toy Boy answered.
I dont get it. he said.
Open the door or Ill kick it down than freeze your head in a block of ice.
The door slid open revealing the young and ridiculous form of the Toy Boy.
I was just playing, Arctic. He said grinning.
What else is new? she replied and entered with Corsage.
Toy Boy was a bit taller than Corsage, and certainly not much older. Passing him at the door she got a better look at him and realized she was looking at the ugliest costume ever created. It was almost diabolical in its repulsiveness. Toy Boy wore a pink leotard that was striped with purple on his legs. Not helping were his bright green gloves and boots. He wore a matching purple and green utility belt around his waist. It was his head really capped the fashion disaster. His carrot top hair was worn in an overgrown bob. His probably freckled face was masked in a white base with rosy red circles painted on his cheeks, and the same color smeared on his lips giving him a clownish visage. To top off the whole Toy Boy experience were a pair of gold goggles resting on his forehead. Corsage, usually the victim of impolite staring, tried to not stare. She failed.
Hey, baby, Toy Boy leered, Wanna see my toy box?
Huh? Corsage took a second to recover, Um no. I dont think so.
Shes cute, Arctic. What do you call her?
My name is Corsage, she huffed, angry at being talked around, You will remember it. One day when all humanity is crushed beneath my heel, you will-
Give it a rest, Corsage. Arctic Amazon interjected. She surveyed the interior and sighed. Lets grab a chair.
Toy Boy closed the door and Corsages eyes adjusted to the dim light. It was a bar. Accent on the was. The bar was to the right and was completely empty and cobwebbed. The rest of the room was scattered with mismatched chairs, some of them cheap patio plastic. At the back of the room was a large television playing some old show she remembered her dad liked. Hawaii Cops or something. Occupying some of the chairs were four other costumed criminals. None gave them any notice when they entered. Arctic and Corsage grabbed a couple seats closest to the door. Toy Boy jumped behind the bar and mysteriously vanishes beneath it to the sound of whirring hydraulics. Corsage nudged Arctic as if to ask where he went.
Divers lair is underground, but he only lets a select few into his actual, yknow, hideout.
Like you?
Arctic Amazon didnt respond, but cracked a small knowing smile. They sat in silence for awhile waiting. Eventually Corsage spoke.
You know any of these guys? She asked.
Arctic looked them over.
Oh yea, see that loser in the blue patent leather and the finned purple headdress? Thats Mister Hysteria. Hes psychic. Does mind control, stuff like that. Telekinesis too I think.
Sounds impressive.
In theory, yes, but hes a total sissy. All you gotta do is think about kicking his [censored] and he pees his pants. She shouted the next part towards Hysteria, Aint that right, Mr. H?
Mr. Hysteria didnt answer, just shrank a little in his chair. The girls shared a laugh and Corsage started feeling better. She was getting her evil swagger back.
What about those two?
Arctic squinted to get a better view.
Oh, yea. The tattooed, no shirt baldy with the black leather pants, thats Doctor Hate. Dont know much about his powers. Shoots Hate Rays or somethin. The guy next to him with the chains and the blue and orange strait jacket lookin outfit, thats Baron Warwind.
Corsage giggled. It looks like he escaped from a sanitarium through a rave. Whats he do?
Atomic Eye Beams or some crap.
Corsage eyed the last villain in the room. It was a woman. Well endowed like her friend Arctic Amazon, but not super sized. She wore a midnight blue costume with a hood and cape. Her mouth and nose were masked, but she could see her eyes. Dark brown eyes surrounded by olive oil skin. There was something familiar about her.
You remember her, right? Arctic Amazon inquired.
I feel like I should
Thats Moon Wisp. Remember? She was in the Zig with us. Got busted out same time as us.
Oh, yea, Corsage said grimly, I remember now.
Corsage also remembered taking a beating from her in the laundry room. Silently she told herself that after whatever job they pulled together, Moon Wisp would regret ever crossing Corsage.
The hydraulic whir from behind the bar fired up again and grabbed the attention of the six super villains. Ascending from beneath the floor was the grinning Toy Boy and an armor clad brute. They walked around to the front. Toy Boy grabbed a chair and sat attentively. The armored figure turned off the TV and addressed the room.
Lets get to work. It said.
This is pretty entertaining... The story of an up-and-coming villain group.
Nifty.

How can I put this, your characters have a flavor most of mine lack. I'm trying to get over a bout of writer's block and get back to work on my own thread. But the way this looks already, it could turn out to be as good as Grey's Army.

Corsage sat up straight at the sound coming from the armored brute. It had a horribly ancient and analog loudspeaker quality. The voice was male and the hulking form was masculine, so she assumed it was a man inside the metallic suit. The suit itself looked old, yet advanced. Almost the definition of steampunk. It seemed like it might have been gold at one time, but it had weathered much and was tarnished and stained green in places. Large rivets could be seen where it was seamed together. The helmet was large and covered the entire skull of its operator. It had a pair of air hoses attached at the mouth that were threaded through what must have been filtrates along the sides then to the base of the neck. Self contained air supply was Corsages assumption. It had a shielded visor across the eyes that were tinted pea green obscuring any sight of the occupant. For some reason Corsage found the sight of this creaking behemoth fascinating.
Im Diver 8. He said, You are now all members of Operation: Mayhem. Our mission will be to attack and cause as much damage and chaos as possible in Paragon City, specifically Atlas Park. I will be in command.
The floor broke out in general murmurs and shouting.
Thats crazy! cried Mr. Hysteria.
Why would we do that? asked Baron Warwind in an eastern European accent.
Corsage said nothing and remained attentive and curious.
Diver 8 continued, Operation: Mayhem is an Arachnos contract. I have been assured by my contact, Arbiter Rein that it was conceived by Lord Recluse himself.
The room quieted down after that statement.
Every person here was rescued from the Zig recently by Arachnos forces and expedited here, to the Rogue Isles. The reason for this was to amass a large strike force of powerful and very thankful freelance agents to crush the home of the Freedom Phalanx and other less noteworthy vigilantes whove stood against him.
Assuming youre telling the truth, spoke Moon Wisp, How much is Lord Recluse paying us for jumping into the lions den?
Nothing. was the reply.
General murmurs broke out again. Diver clapped his metal hands together making a horrendous clanking sound to regain control of the floor.
Our main objective will be to attack and occupy Atlas Park for fifteen minutes. In that time we can do whatever, and more importantly, steal whatever we like as long we maintain the attention of local police, Longbow and any capes that are in the area.
Corsage felt giddy. This was bigger than even she had hoped.
So, this is what? It was the Arctic Amazon who spoke this time, A giant distraction? A diversionary tactic so Arachnos can blow up the White House or something?
Diver 8 responded, Who cares? Atlas Park is home to one of the largest and richest banks on the mainland. Were gonna break it open and drain it dry. Well be rich after this job, so who cares why were doing it?
No one spoke, just sat in hushed contemplation. Diver 8 let his point soak in before continuing.
Lets get down to the details. Toy Boy.
Toy Boy pulled out a small remote control device and pulled up and aerial map of Atlas Park on the television. The map was marked in two places. Diver 8 gestured to the first marker.
Our team will be flown in by an Arachnos Flyer. Our drop point will be the bridge in Prometheus Park. From there we will proceed south to our target, he pointed to the second marker, the Hodges and Osbourne National Bank and Depository. We will smash and destroy everything on the way to make sure weve got the attention of every living person in Atlas Park.
Diver turned to face the others again.
Arctic Amazon and Mr. Hysteria will be in charge of crowd control. Anyone and I mean anyone, whether theyre little old ladies or super powered aliens, gets near us it will be your jobs to make sure they dont get in our way. Give em ice slicks, mass confusion, the works.
You got it, boss. said Arctic Amazon.
Hysteria, we clear? Diver 8 asked.
Oh, yea. Sure. said the very unsure sounding villain, you can count on me.
Toy Boy and I will be charge of property damage. With the strength of my suit and Toy Boys killer Toybots well destroy every car, bus stop and newspaper stand on the way to the bank. It will be messy in the best possible way.
Cant wait! declared the ecstatic Toy Boy, clapping his hands together.
Diver 8 continued, Doctor Hate and Baron Warwind can fly and have long range attacks. They will be our air cover. Both of them will patrol the skies and knock down any flying heroes or Longbow agents that come within a mile of us. They will also snipe any ground vehicles that are moving to cause traffic jams and allow us a clear path to the target.
Understood. said the Baron.
Doctor Hate nodded his naked head in agreement.
Corsage squirmed in her chair. She couldnt wait until she got her assignment.
Moon Wisp is the key for a successful robbery. She not only can cloak herself to avoid detection, she can also teleport herself, others and objects through space by opening trans-dimensional rifts.
You make it sound so mundane, Diver. interrupted Moon Wisp.
Sorry. Im not an expert on magical cross-dimensional transportation. Either way, Moon Wisp will remain hidden until we get to the bank. Once inside well either unlock or break open the vault. Then she can transport the money inside back to the flyer, then us. Well fall back to the Rogue Isles as millionaires.
Diver 8 stopped talking. Corsage waited for him to include her.
Does everyone understand their role in Operation: Mayhem?
Corsage stood up quickly and knocked her chair down in the process. She was livid.
What about ME?! she screamed.
Diver 8 put his armored hands up to the sides of his helmet.
Toy Boy, remind me to have you turn down the volume in my helmet next time you do maintenance. He said.
Well?!
Um, Diver started, Uh, what was your name again?
Corsage fumed. If she wasnt already dark green she would have turned red.
Its Corsage. She said deliberately through clenched teeth.
Oh, yea. You will in charge of keeping Moon Wisp safe. Youll both be inside her Cloak of Deception, so it shouldnt be too difficult. However, if anyone gets within five feet of her, you, uh, use whatever powers you have to take them out.
So, Im a babysitter? For HER?!
Diver 8 winced again then spoke, You gotta problem with that?
Yes! I have a huge problem with that!
Everyone in the room stared at her. Arctic Amazon motioned with her hands for Corsage to tone it down.
I can do more than bodyguard that blue spook! I can control plants! I shoot toxic thorns from my body! I can even emit a hallucinogenic gas from my breath at close range!
Though he couldnt emote with his face, Diver 8 was visibly irritated by Corsages outbursts.
You have your assignment, Corsage. He intoned.
Corsage stood a moment longer with teeth and fists clenched, and then relented reluctantly.
Fine. She said quietly and replaced her chair and sat, arms crossed in her last show of defiance.
Good. Im glad we got that cleared up, Diver said in a more genial voice, One last thing. Operation: Mayhem launches at dawn. Everybody get some rest.
Having less than twenty-four hours to prepare for a raid this massive caused much trepidation amongst some of the others, but Corsage would not have it any other way. Having been raised to follow in her parents footsteps as a hero, she had her fill of training and teamwork exercises. From her experiences, nothing ever went according to plan anyway. In the haphazard spirit of things, Corsage decided to pick up some seeds from the garden store. She had never tried to use her plant growth powers on an unborn seed, and it seemed as good of a time to try as any.
There were two problems. First, she had no idea where a garden store was in Port Oakes. This problem was solved simply enough when she accepted Toy Boys offer to give her a ride. Her other problem was that Toy Boy was trying something new himself.
Whoa! Corsage screamed as she clung tightly to the Toy Boys back, Look out for the bus!
Toy Boy laughed as they both fell from the sky. His ugly gold goggles were now over his eyes and his new prototypes were strapped on his feet. They looked pretty much like his other also ugly green boots, except these were platforms. Corsage squeezed him tight as she braced for impact. Toy Boys feet touched down on the moving bus. The impact of the fall was almost totally absorbed in the boots mechanism and as quickly as they had fallen, they were then propelled upward and onward with a super leap.
Eat my dust, public transportation! Toy Boy exclaimed.
Corsage tried to speak, but was momentarily without breath.
"So, whaddya think? Pretty neat, right?
They descended again. Toy Boy bounded off a parking lot crowded with weirdoes dancing in front of a radio. Corsage felt dizzy as they headed back up.
Toy Boy, Corsage finally managed, I think its important for you to know that sometimes my thorns spawn as a reflex to being scared.
Oh, really? He responded with glee, So, I shouldnt do this then, should I?
They landed again right in front of a towering building, and again they launched forward into the air, but this time they had no room to ascend and were heading straight towards the concrete monolith. Corsage screamed like the girl she was, while Toy Boy howled with delight. With the building only inches away, Toy Boy jabbed his legs outward and bounced them horizontally away from danger, at least momentarily. They were being propelled at a high speed across the street straight towards a parking garage. Corsage closed her eyes and prayed she wouldnt feel it when she was squashed. Effortlessly Toy Boy flipped them both over in mid air and launched them back towards the sky with a swift kick against level C. Corsage opened her eyes, thankful for at least a few more seconds of life.
What is wrong with you!? Corsage shrieked, Why didnt you just make a jet pack like a regular mad scientist?
Because I rule! declared Toy Boy, The world is my trampoline! Beware fruit vendors everywhere!
---------------------------
This better be worth the trip. Corsage said eyeing the seed she was holding in her upturned palm.
They were seated now on a bench near the old arena. They had just finished nabbing Corsage various seeds from the Green Man and Toy Boy a milkshake from Burger Barn. A large oak tree loomed over them providing shade from the noon sun. Having a photosynthetic diet, Corsage cared little for the shade. She picked this spot in case Toy Boy got fresh she could have the tree eat him or something.
Well? Toy Boy asked and then took a loud slurp from his shake.
Gimme a minute! she snapped, Im still frazzled from them trip. This takes concentration.
How do you know?
What?
How do you know it takes concentration? You said youve never done this before.
Corsage sighed then said, Because anything worth doing takes concentration.
Oh, yea! Like going to the bathroom.
What is you damage, ********!? she yelled, standing and twirling to face him, Do you not want this to work? Do you not realize how unbelievably cool it would be for me to sprout an army of, uh, what kind did I get?
Tulips.
Do you not realize how unbelievably cool it would be for me to be able to sprout an army of tulips to do my bidding?
Toy Boy took a long drag from his milkshake, unfazed by Corsages outburst.
I thought you were on guard duty for this gig. He said finally.
Yea, thanks to your stupid boss. She said glumly then sat back down next to him, Whats the deal with you two anyways?
Whaddya mean?
I mean hes like your mentor, she offered, Or your
special friend, maybe?
Toy Boy laughed, but it sounded genuine this time, not his usual manic cackle.
The suit he wears was called the Diver 8. It was an experimental diving suit made sometime in the early twentieth century.
Wait, Corsage interrupted, He named himself after his suit?
Yea, I know. Dont get me started. Anyways, it makes whoever wears it super strong and resilient, a side effect of having to withstand the intense pressures of the deep. It was lost somehow on the bottom of the ocean. Diver 8, the guy not the suit, used to worked in deep sea salvage and found it. He was smart enough to figure out how to use it and what it did, however, the poor [censored] doesnt know a thing about mechanics or engineering. So he keeps me around to keep his big ugly outfit in working order.
Sounds like a crappy job. Does it have dental?
Hey, it pays me well enough to afford components for my inventions. Plus its always good to have a big metal guy to hide behind once the bullets start flying.
Toy Boy pulled an ordinary looking pocket watch from his utility belt and checked the time. He looked disappointed.
Speaking of our creaking leader, he said, I gotta get back. He wants me to do a diagnostic on the armor before tonight.
Oh, okay, Corsage responded, surprised that she too was disappointed he was leaving.
Dont forget, be back at the hideout at four tomorrow. Thats AM, young lady!
Corsage smiled and waved as he strapped his goggles back over his eyes. He readied himself in a crouch for his leap home. Suddenly he turned back towards her.
Need a ride home? he asked.
Corsage stopped smiling.
No.
I like this!
I like this a lot!

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
Corsage watched absently as Toy Boy hopped through the city and out of sight. A sense of depression started creeping up on her and she had little energy left in her to shrug it off. She decided to go home.
No, not home, she thought, Not ever again.
-----------------------
Corsages apartment was in a tenement hotel near Marconeville. It occupied a small corner of the second floor. It smelled slightly of old urine and manslaughter. The floral wallpaper was peeling and blackened in areas and it seemed that there was not a spot on the hardwood floor that didnt creak. The ramshackle state of the place didnt bother her. She hadnt been here very long and knew soon she would have her own lair. One paid for with the suffering of others.
Her living room slash bedroom was bare except for a sleeping bag and a small digital alarm clock next to it on the floor. The clock told her she should probably try to get some sleep if she was going to be rested and on time tomorrow. Corsage felt a little down, but not especially sleepy. Still she undressed, and after carefully hanging her costume in her tiny closet, she laid down on the top of her sleeping bag. She set the alarm for 2:15. It would take her about a half hour to get to Divers and about an hour to get her hair back in order. That would give her enough time with fifteen minutes to spare.
Lying on her back with her hands resting on her slim chest, she stared at the stained ceiling. The last of the days sunshine bathed her through her exposed windows. She closed her eyes and was asleep before the sun set.
-----------------------
Corsage was back on the bench holding the tulip seed in her palm. After a moment of disorientation, she locked her stare onto the seed and concentrated. This time it would work, she knew it.
Thats it dear. Concentrate. A heavenly voice said.
Corsage looked to her right. She expected Toy Boy to be here, too. He was not. Seated next to Corsage was Sunflower. Her mother.
Sunflower was gorgeous. She had long golden hair and striking blue eyes. She had pale, flawless skin, very much unlike her freakish green daughter. Her costume was bright yellow with a skirt made to look like flower petals. Corsage was anxious at the sight of her.
No, my little blossom, Sunflower said, Dont get distracted. Concentrate on the seed.
Corsage turned back to the seed, but it was different now. Now it was a small egg. She opened her mouth to say something, but only heard laughter. She realized she was surrounded by teenage girls wearing school uniforms. They were all pretty and tall, and they were all laughing at her. Corsage looked to her mother for comfort but got only a stern look.
Anything worth doing takes concentration. Her mother reminded.
The girls started throwing things at her and Corsage started to cry. Through her sadness she found the resolve to continue. She would show them all what she could do. She focused all of her hatred and longing on the egg/seed. It cracked slightly. Corsage looked to Sunflower for approval and saw her mother smiling. Corsage laughed and the mocking teenagers started to disperse, all staring at their feet as they shuffled away.
I can do it! Corsage cheered through tears now made of joy, Mommy, I can do it!
She focused harder now. The egg trembled. Dark seaweed colored liquid leaked out of it through the cracks. Something was wrong. Dread swelled in her bosom as Corsage tried to stop it. Suddenly, the egg split open and sprayed her with the inky juice.
In her hand was a tiny green fetus, squirming in its own blood struggling to breathe. Corsage tried to scream but could not. She looked for her mother, but was now surrounded in darkness. From the darkness a rough and angry voice filled with hatred and disappointment spoke. It was her mothers voice.
Youre just like you father.
---------------------------
Corsage screamed and sat up. She was in her apartment again and awake. She was sweating and shaking uncontrollably. She screamed again trying to shake loose the feelings her nightmare had imbedded in her. She dug into the sides of her head with her fingernails. Eventually she noticed her alarm clock was buzzing. She took a series of deep breaths and stood up slowly. She stepped on the clock to silence it.
The night was moonless. She stood in the pitch black of her room, knowing it was time to go. She lingered awhile longer, soaking up the darkness.
Good evening, madam, Toy Boy greeted, Table for one?
Im not in the mood, Toy Boy. Corsage responded.
She pushed passed him into the topside of Divers lair. She saw she wasnt the last one to arrive this time. Mr. Hysteria and Doctor Hate were present. Assuming Diver was in his super cool underground lair, that meant Baron Warwind, Moon Wisp and Arctic Amazon had yet to arrive.
Meow, Toy Boy remarked, Someone woke up on the wrong side of the arboretum.
Shouldnt you be polishing your boyfriends helmet, Boy Toy? came the retort.
No, I already took care of th- Hey! How dare you question my masculinity? asked the young man wearing a pink leotard.
Corsage changed the subject, Its almost four. You think the others chickened out?
Or wised up? Toy Boy added.
Yea.
Toy Boy shrugged. Someone else knocked at the steel door and Toy Boy left her presence to answer it. It was Moon Wisp. As she entered Toy Boy engaged her in what surely was an amusing bit of small talk. Corsage could sense Wisp smile from beneath her cowl. Corsage was struck with an immediate and unexpected jolt of jealousy. Toy Boy was no smoldering stallion by any means, however being the only other underage villains on the team; she felt they shared a kinship to which Moon Wisp was not welcome. She realized that she was staring and decided to act casual by hanging with Hate and Hysteria.
They were uglier than she remembered. Doctor Hate was well sculpted as any man should be who doesnt wear a shirt in his daily routine, but his skin was grey and had a lifeless tone to it. Getting a closer look at his face she saw that he was some kind of Asian, probably Chinese judging from his Fu Manchu moustache. His eyes glowed in a sickly yellow hue and he had pointed ears sticking out from his bald head.
To the Doctors left was Mister Hysteria. A short man with a large cranium that was perched precariously atop a fairly scrawny frame. His outfit was a blue leather jumpsuit with purple gloves and boots. He wore a purple mask that was exposed at the eyes, mouth and chin. On the top were three fins that jutted outwards about six inches. His eyes were an attractive pale blue, but his features had a pointed, rat like quality.
Corsage came in the middle of their discussion.
with the eternal power of hatred. We will be victorious this day. Doctor Hate finished.
Youre missing the point, Doc, Mr. Hysteria responded, We have no idea why were doing this. Winning doesnt mean squat to me unless I know what I won.
I thought we were doing this for butt loads of cash. interjected Corsage as she joined them.
Hysteria turned his attention to her.
No. Thats not it either. Thats the reason Diver made for us. I want to know why were being sent in the first place.
I will not miss the opportunity to spread the seeds of hatred and despair in the city of heroes. spoke the doctor, The all too human machinations of the spider people does not concern Doctor Hate!
And I wanna be rich. Corsage said.
Mr. Hysteria groaned and slapped his hand onto his forehead in frustration.
This is the reason that us bad guys never win, he said, Doesnt anyone care about the big picture?
Dont mind him, said a voice from right behind Corsage causing her to jump, Mr. Hysteria is a well known coward and worry wart.
Corsage whirled around to see Moon Wisp standing only inches behind her. She considered putting a thorn through her throat as punishment for violating her personal space. Corsage could sense the Wisp grinning again.
Dont tell me hes rubbing off on you.
Corsage lowered her defenses and tried to put on an air of indifference.
Yea well, he makes an interesting point. Corsage remarked.
Please, Moon Wisp said, Hes just looking for a way out. He just lacks the courage to do it alone.
They waited for Hysteria to counter, but he just crossed his arms and stared at the floor. Moon Wisp strutted triumphantly into the middle of them and turned to face Corsage. With one hand on her hip she looked Corsage up and down, silently. Corsage squirmed under the scrutiny.
What? she asked.
Moon Wisp continued to stare.
What? Corsage demanded, What is your problem, lady?
Moon Wisp put her hand to her chin as if in contemplation. Finally, she spoke.
So, you are to be my protector.
Apparently, Corsage spat, Look, if you dont stop giving me the hairy eyeball all Ill have left to protect is a bloody torso.
The Wisp put up her hands in mock surrender.
Ooo. How very butch. She purred, But do not forget that it is I who is the star of this show. You had best take good care of me. Maybe we should practice holding hands while we cross the street?
Corsage clenched her fists. She could feel her thorns itching beneath her skin. She suddenly heard stomping feet coming from behind her. Moon Wisp unlocked her gaze from Corsage and looked towards the door.
Oh, dear, she said, Looks like big sis is here.
Corsage didnt turn around to see. She knew what Wisp meant when she said 'big sis': Arctic Amazon.
Leave her alone, witch, Arctic Amazon threatened as she crossed the room, Ive taught you this lesson before. Ive been dying to do it again.
How charming, Moon Wisp said calmly, My bodyguard has a bodyguard.
The Amazon glared icily at the Wisp. The Wisp relented.
As you wish. She said and walked away.
You okay, little girl? Arctic Amazon asked.
Im fine! Corsage snapped, embarrassed at her friends intervention, I dont need your help. I can take care of my-
Alright, boss! Were all here! they heard Toy Boy yell into his wrist communicator. Looking over at him they saw him allowing Baron Warwind inside.
About damn time! Diver 8s static cracked voice shouted through Toy Boys gadget, Ill be right up!
Copy that! Toy Boy yelled. He then addressed the room, Hell be right up!
Doing good, but I'd like to make a suggestion early on. Try not using Proper Names as much. If you say "Bob" in one sentence, he's generally the subject for the next few, even if you mention others.
Try to mix it up with pronouns, quick descriptions, alternate names, and current personality traits.
All in all, though, I like that your characters each have personality unto themselves. I can't wait to see how these guys fare together.

It was Baron Warwinds turn. They all looked to him expectantly. The Baron closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He held a hand to his throat and gently stretched his windpipe in preparation. Corsage noted that his skin was so pale it was almost transparent. Some veins were visible, cracking across his face and she swore she still saw his grey irises through his closed lids. He opened his eyes, brushed back his long black hair from his shoulders and spoke.
Thirty years ago in my home country, my father, Baron Wharfin, sought to bring prosperity to his impoverished people
The trip was to be fairly long and the bare, black interior of the Arachnos flyer offered no distractions. They were passing the time by telling each other their origins. It was Toy Boys idea and despite some grousing from Diver 8 about how they should stay focused on business, it was an amusing game.
nuclear power plant was built, despite outcries from the peasants. They were a backwards and superstitious people. A year later, their fears turned out to be justified. There was an accident
Corsage found it hard to stay focused on Warwinds narration. They were getting closer to Atlas Park and her stomach butterflies were flocking again. It had only been a few hours ago when they had left Divers topside tavern and teleported via Moon Wisp to an offshore launching pad. It was there that she realized the scope of Operation: Mayhem.
my father, alone, survived and suffered no ill symptoms of radioactive fallout. At least that is how it seemed. Two years later when I was born he realized that was not true
There were twenty or more transports and at least a hundred other villains present on the offshore platform. She was assured by Diver 8 that more teams were being sent in by submarine. Every corner of Paragon City was going to invaded, not just Atlas Park. She tried to see it in a positive light. More operatives meant more targets, diluting the resistance that her team would face. But, she kept thinking about Mr. Hysterias worrisome comments. Having no insight into the why of this mission started to weigh heavily upon her narrow shoulders.
I was the living embodiment of the nuclear winter. As an infant my powers were uncontrollable and deadly. Again only my father was immune. He dismissed the surviving members of his staff and I grew to a man, sequestered in our castle with only my father for company
What was Arachnos up to? Corsage thought. Of course, she cared nothing for the world and the slack jawed primates that controlled it; however she certainly did not want to return from Paragon with millions of dollars only to discover she lived in a world where money had no value.
When he died, I was overcome with grief. However with my powers now under control I knew I could take his place as Baron and lead our people into a grand future
Corsage felt the flyer descend and wondered if anything was wrong. The pilot had not said a word to any of them the entire trip, so she was left to speculate. The ship vibrated and spastically massaged her bottom and lower back. She shifted in her seat in an unsuccessful bid for comfort. She looked to the others to see if they looked worried. With the exception of Mr. Hysteria they did not. Corsage decided to take that as a good sign.
What a fool I was! I was dragged to the dungeon and chained. They believed me a wraith! A demon! Though cursed by the atom, my blood was blue with nobility. The peasants would pay for accosting me. I patiently waited, bound in the stone prison of my own castle for my strength to return
Time? she heard Diver 8 ask.
Toy Boy held up his pocket watch in from of Divers tinted visor. He was riveted by Warwinds tale and did not want to interrupt. Unlike his companions, the Toy Boy had no innate super abilities and had to rely on his keen intellect and amazing inventions. To Corsage it looked like he had brought a kitchen sink arsenal. On top of his usual gear he added a pair of bandoliers crisscrossing his chest filled with goofy gadgets that were hopefully as useful as they were silly. He had a pair of ray guns holstered on his belt and carried a pair of large metal briefcases that he assured her totally turn into robots.
Free at last I unleashed my powers like never before. My captors ran for their lives or begged for mercy. Either way they perished in my atomic rage
Diver 8 unstrapped himself and made his way into the cockpit. Were almost here, Corsage thought. Quickly she took stock of herself. Her new wrist communicator was still on her wrist wrapped over her left glove. Toy Boy had one for everyone (except Diver, his was built into his helmet) and they were important in case any of them got separated from the others. It was another potentially positive point that caused Corsage distress. Getting separated was not something she wanted to think about considering where they were going. She reached down and felt her right boot next. There was a small bulge where she was housing her pack of unused tulip seeds. She wasnt sure why she brought them. She never got them to grow from seed form and had no idea if she ever could.
finally I had realized what I had done. I had destroyed the barony that was home to my family for generations. People, livestock, crops, game and forest were all dead from my assault. All that was left was me. I was never happier in all my life.
Yay! cheered Toy Boy, clapping his hands in a one man ovation.
I liked the part where you killed everyone. Doctor Hate complimented.
Thank you, Warwind said, Of course destroying your own property and tenants has financial repercussions. That is why I hope all goes well today.
Okay greenie, its your turn. Toy Boy said to Corsage.
Um, she said, "I dont wanna play.
Oh, come on!
No, thats okay. Let Moon Wisp go.
I can tell you her story, Arctic offered, We shared a lot in the Zig.
Arctic! Corsage yelled at her friend.
Ooooo, lets hear it! Toy Boy begged, And dont leave out the shower scenes!
Save it, Diver 8 said as he emerged from the cockpit, Its time to go.
Corsage noticed that the sensation of movement had ceased and they must have been hovering over Prometheus Park. Everyone unfastened themselves from their safety harnesses and stood up.
How far? asked Moon Wisp.
Two hundred feet. Diver responded.
Straight down?
Yep.
Very well, Moon Wisp announced, Everyone get closer. Form a circle.
They did. Moon Wisp said something in an ancient and alien language and they were all engulfed in smoky blue tendrils. The team was swallowed in them and Corsage could feel forces of enormous evil probe into her soul from some dark dimension. She thought she heard Doctor Hate giggle like a school girl, too.
When the smoke dispersed and she saw they were standing on the bridge over Prometheus Park. A moment later when they all fell, she realized that they were transported to about six feet over the bridge.
Nice, Wisp, Diver 8 chided as he pulled himself to his feet, Great way to start.
What do you expect, she returned, There were no windows in that craft. If I could see the ground we would have landed on it.
Picking herself up Corsage surveyed the city. It was early in the morning, and still had a peaceful quality. She could feel the park beneath her. The myriad forms of plant life sung a joyous song of contented existence that only she could hear. It was here that she could be most effective and had to repress the urge to summon the park to rise up and swallow the surrounding area. She decided she would stick to the plan, no matter how insignificant her role. A lone car sped towards them from the south side of the bridge.
Look out for that car! called Mr. Hysteria.
They all looked at him wearily. Diver stepped in front of the vehicles path. The driver slammed on his brakes and quickly tried to throw it in reverse. The metal clad villain grabbed the front end of the car and flipped it over effortlessly. The car occupant screamed and tried to undo his seatbelt. Diver 8 strolled leisurely to the side of the car and kicked it forcefully. The car disappeared over the side of the bridge, breaking the guard rail like a dry pretzel. A moment later they heard the ear splitting sound of the vehicles unceremonious impact on the ground. The teams leader turned to the other villains.
You two, get to the air. Corsage and Wisp get invisible. Arctic, take the point. Hysteria, pull up the rear. And stop being a [censored].
He turned and faced south towards their target.
Lets get paid.
((Hey faithful readers. Double XP weekend has precluded me from completing the next exciting installment of Operation: Mayhem!
Expect a new chapter after the 11th and thanks for reading.))
As expected, it started with a bang. They evacuated the bridge as Toy Boy threw down his metal cases. Over her shoulder, Corsage saw that they neatly unfolded into midget sized robots armed with energy cannons. Next the young mastermind pulled out a toy top from his crowded bandolier and placed it on the ground gently. He pulled a cord and the top spun in pace at an almost impossible speed. The Toy Boy and his robot minions turned towards the others and ran. He reached the south end of the bridge when the top exploded.
Bang.
The center of the bridge crumbled into the lake below in the deafening pop. The shockwave washed over the villains and then the screaming started.
Moon Wisp grasped Corsages hand and she was momentarily disorented as a hazy blue color filled her vision. It was like looking through thick sunglasses.
Dont fret, the Wisp said, You are now in my Cloak of Deception. We are invisble to the eyes of this world.
Oh, swell, Corsage responded, Do we have to hold hands?
We must remain in physical contact for my cloak to work on you. Would you rather I held something else?
Corsages response was drowned out by another explosion. Baron Warwind, hovering overhead, blew up the top floor of a neighboring office building with his Atomic Eye Beams. The streets were filling up with panicky gawkers, all running out from whatever building they occupied to see what had happened. Arctic Amazon, marching in front, summoned a gale of freezing wind and knocked down all who impeded their path towards the bank. A young woman stepped out from inside a deli to their left and pulled a small revolver from her purse. Without missing a beat, Arctic turned and froze the gun and the young ladys hand in a block of ice. While the lady screamed and tried to free herself, the towering Amazon took two giant strides towards her and punched her in the face, knocking the poor woman unconscious.
Sirens began to wail. Doctor Hate flew higher to get a bead on the sound. Locating the emergency vehicles, he launched a ray of dark energy in their direction. Corsage could not see them, but she heard the unmistakable cacophany of steel splintering to shrapnel from the Doctors blast.
Bathe in my darkness, foolish whelps! he roared.
Toy Boys robots unleashed their plasma cannons. Parking meters sprayed quarters and the mailbox on the corner vomited smoking correspondence under their attack. Their master pulled a mechanical frog from his arsenal and wound it up. He tossed it onto the ground and it hopped lazily towards the Pop Copy store. The stores occupants sensed its evil purposes and fled into the street as it hopped through the smashed glass door. Mr. Hysteria locked in on this group. Under his gaze they all grabbed their heads as if to keep them from splitting. The frog exploded grandly. Glass and all forms of debris from inside the store flew into the street at deadly velocity. Everyone ducked except for the armored Diver 8. Moon Wisp was grazed across her shoulders by a shard of the cash register and hissed angrily. Corsage smiled at Moon Wisps discomfort, despite being terribly frightened by the proximity of that last blast.
Careful! yelled Diver, holding a small foreign car over his head, Blow up everything except us!
Soooory! was Toy Boys grinning response.
The armored brute tossed the car into a laundromat and then proceeded to uproot a parking meter. Holding it like a beacon he pointed towards the bank that loomed larger by every step they took.
Lets pick up the pace, people, he ordered, I dont wanna be here any longer than necessary.
Diver, Baron Warwind said into his communicator, Longbow Chasers are en route.
Once they get in range, you and Doc blow em up. Dont make this compl-
Diver cut himself off as he noticed the lone man standing at the next intersection. A tall and athletic figure clad in a two tone blue spandex costume. The first hero had arrived. He stood with a gallant arrogance that only a super powered vigilante could achieve. Their procession stopped momentarily, waiting for him to make his move.
Stand down, evil doers, he bellowed haughtily, Or face the icy retribution of Hailing Justice!
Arctic Amazon grinned and turned to her teammates.
Oh, this guy is mine. she said and charged towards the hero.
Oh, crap! called Mr. Hysteria, Here comes some more!
Corsage twisted at Moon Wisps arm to turn around and see. There were three heroes coming in from the north. A beige metallic looking figure was in the lead. To his left was a woman wielding a pipe wrench and to his right was a young man wielding a longsword. These ones didnt pose like Hailing Justice. They were racing into they fray as fast as they could.
Hysteria, take em out! Diver shouted.
The quaking psychic pulled himself together and focused his attention on his opponets. The wrench lady and the sword guy immediately fell to the ground clutching at their skulls, suffering under his mental assault. The beige one continued to move, undaunted. He closed in on Mr. Hysteria.
Wha- Its not working on that one! Hysteria shrilled.
The beige colored hero stopped abruptly right in front of the mental powered villain. His expressionless faceplate seemed to stare Hysteria down.
Hi, it said, Names Danger Droid. And in case you didnt already know-
Corsage heard Diver shout something to Toy Boy, but she couldnt make it out. Everything seemed to slow down and her vision tunneled in on her diminutive, cowardly teammate.
-Im a robot!
Danger Droid clobbered Hysteria on the chin with a bone rattling uppercut. The tiny villain flew off of his feet and fell hard on his back. Corsage gasped and tried to wriggle free of the Wisps grasp. She couldnt tell if he was dead or unconscious, but either way Danger Droid needed to pay. Moon Wisp held tight and wagged her finger at her bodyguard.
Let the boys handle this. She said.
Toy Boy and his metallic minions turned and faced the Droid.
Time for some hot bot-on-bot action! He declared and whipped out his Flash Gordon style ray guns.
The Toybots opened fire. Danger Droid sidestepped their blasts with unexpected agility. Toy Boy tried to get a bead on him.
No fair! he taunted, Hold still for a second!
The robotic hero continued to dodge plasma blasts and serpentined his way towards Toy Boy. Corsage looked around. She saw Arctic Amazon and Hailing Justice locked in a pitched battle of frozen fury. In the air she saw Doctor Hate and Baron Warwind firing their Hate Rays and Atomic Eye Beams at incoming Longbow Chasers. Diver 8 was
Wheres Diver? she asked Moon Wisp.
Shh, was the response, We can still be heard. Be quiet or youll give us away.
Who cares about that? We need to help Toy Boy!
Toy Boy fired both of his ray guns as Danger Droid neared. The accelerated hero dodged his blasts with ease. The Toybots stopped firing as their target had become close to their master. They charged awkwardly with their stumpy legs towards Droid, while their plasma cannons retracted and were replaced with bayonets. The hero was now within arms reach of the mastermind. Toy Boy lofted his pistols at Danger Droids face.
Im gonna enjoy salvaging you for parts. He sneered.
Danger Droid raised his right hand outwards towards his opponent. Toy Boy crumpled to his knees dropping his guns. An invisible force was draining Toy Boys strength. As the Toybots neared, the hero raised his left hand towards them. His palm began to crackle with energy and a blast of intense electricity followed, zapping the hapless minions. They spun about short circuiting wildly. Corsages heart sank as they fell down, deactivated and useless.
The hero pointed his energized palm towards the helpless Toy Boy.
Sorry, kid, it said, Play time is officially over.
Interesting. You definitely have a knack for this.
My Stories
Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.
Not
quite
yet. Toy Boy wheezed in his imposed atrophy.
A shadow suddenly loomed above them causing Danger Droid to look up. The clunky form of Diver 8 was leaping down at him from a three story building, still wielding the parking meter. The robot tried to adjust his aim to his new target, but finally was too slow. Diver 8 hit the ground causing it to shake under his massive weight. Danger Droid stumbled, trying to keep his balance. The invisible hold on Toy Boy had broken. The young villain collected his ray guns and jumped to his feet. Danger Droid regained his footing and turned to face Diver. The armored brute grasped the meters shaft with both hands and swung it with herculean force. It connected with the heros head, knocking it from his shoulders. The robotic body remained standing as its cranium bounced down the street. Toy Boy, seeking retributon for his minions, opened fire and blasted off the Droids arms and legs, leaving a mechanical jigsaw puzzle twitching and sparking on the pavement. He holstered his pistols and turned to his leader.
Had to wait for the last second, didnt you? he said.
Sorry, Diver responded, The elevator was busted. I had to take the stairs.
The Longbow ships are retreating! Baron Warwind declared, triumphantly.
Good work. Now lets get a move on. Were running late. Corsage. Wisp. You still with us?
Were here, Diver, Corsage said into her communicator, What about Hysteria?
They all turned back and looked at the psychics limp body. He was still breathing, lying spread eagle in the middle of the street. In front of him were the two heroes he had rendered unconscious. They had started to move slowly, and groped around on the ground. The Hysteria effect was wearing off. Diver considered for a moment before replying.
Leave him.
-------------------------------
Corsage almost felt guilty that she had forgotten about Arctic Amazon and her battle with Hailing Justice. Their fight had continued down the road for two blocks and had left many frozen keepsakes to commemorate the skirmish. Eventually, they caught up to them and Corsage felt better. Their tall, blue haired teammate loomed triumphant over the battered and motionless hero. She was a little worse for wear, with a bit of blood in the corner of her mouth and a fist sized bruise on her cheek, but she was still gorgeous and still standing.
Way to go, stretch! exclaimed Toy Boy.
Arctic Amazon played nonchalant and shrugged.
Turns out our powers were about matched, she said, Too bad for him he didnt have enhanced Amazonian strength.
Amazonian? Please, Diver 8 interjected, Cmon, Arctic. Everybody knows youre from St. Martial.
The Amazonian warrior glowered at the armored brute. To Corsage it actually looked liked Diver actually blanched.
Alright, alright, he said, Jeez. Cmon. Four more blocks to paydirt.
They ran the rest of the way, with their aerial lookouts, Warwind and Hate, following overhead. Toy Boy took the occasional potshot at something with his blasters, but for the most part they just ran. The streets had emptied. Sirens wailed in the distance, but the area around them had fallen eerily silent. Corsage had a calm-before-the-storm vibe.
Cops musta put out an emergency broadcast, surmised Diver, Looks like its downhill from here.
The bank was straight ahead. They made it to the middle of the intersection when they realized they should have looked both ways before crossing the street. There were a couple of platoons worth of candy cane colored Longbow soldiers hiding against the side of the office building on their left. Even the two flying villains didnt see them until the trap was sprung. One of the agents threw a grenade that exploded with a white, sticky adhesive, locking even the strongest villain in place. The other agents opened fire with their assault rifles on the two in the air. Doctor Hate and Baron Warwind flew higher to evade the assault.
Ambush! Diver shouted, stating the obvious.
What the hell?! Arctic yelled, Im facing the wrong way! Whats going on?
Though invisible, Moon Wisp and Corsage were also glued to the street. Wisp locked eyes with her green bodyguard, and though neither was psychic, they both knew what the other one expected. The blue stalker mumbled her weird incantantion and the ethereal tendrils teleported them into the middle of the longbow agents. Not a single molecule of the glue came with them and they were fully mobile and still invisible based on the non reaction from their opponents.
Forget those two, ordered the Longbow commander, Neutralize the ground forces.
That sounds bad. Toy Boy reckoned.
Im going to try to freeze this stuff, Arctic stuff, Maybe I can cause it to shatter.
Make it quick! Diver demanded as he watched the Longbow agents take aim.
Corsage nodded to her least favorite teammate and they both released their grip on eachother. The Cloak faded and they materialized.
Jesus Jones! shouted one agent.
Infiltrated, the Longbow hurried to turn their weapons inward on their new targets. Corsage flexed and her thorns popped out from beneath her jade skin. She flung some outward in an arc impaling four of them. They screamed in a symphony as she ducked and turned her attention towards the rest of the good guys.
The commander fired at Moon Wisp. The villain twisted sideways effortlessy. The guns blast caught one of the other agents in the chest, sending him to the ground. Enraged the commander fired again. Wisp summoned a small, swirling portal in front of her. The bullet entered the portal and materialized behind the commander. It hit him in the butt.
Why, you little! he sneered, full of pain and indignation.
Corsage could not help but to laugh as she tore through the rest of them. The training she received as a child from her super hero parents was serving her well. She ducked and weaved and scratched each agent she came near. She left a trail of drooling and twitching do-gooders in her wake, all victims of her neurotoxic thorns.
The commander had dropped his gun and limped comically towards Moon Wisp. He held his fists out like a turn of the century boxer. The Wisp for her part simply stood still waiting for him. He got to within striking distance and hurled a jab at her. She didnt break a sweat as she spun around the attack and moved in behind him. The crippled commander tried to turn around, but it was all over for him. The Wisp leaped onto his back and pressed the palms of her hands against the sides of his face. He howled in pain as dark blue mist emanated from her hands and saturated his head. It started seaping out of his screaming mouth, then from his ears and nose. When the mist started coming out of his eyes, he slumped and fell forward. Moon Wisp stood up and checked her manicure.
Seeing all the red and white was now lying on the ground, Corsage retracted her thorns. She considered congratulating her partner, then decided not to feed her bloated ego.
Got it! Arctic Amazon declared.
The three formerly trapped villains lifted their legs and broke through the frozen adhesive.
Damn, thats cold, Toy Boy whined, You better not have damaged my jump boots. These are prototypes, you know.
Youre welcome.
Warwind! Hate! Diver roared furiously, Where the hell did you two get off to?
No response came. Corsage and Wisp rejoined their teammates at the intersection.
Report! Damn it! Report! the leader continued.
Apologies, but we have a situation. They heard Warwind through their communicators.
They all looked up and scanned the heavens. Arctic Amazon pointed upwards.
There, she called, I see them!
The two villains were firing at an incoming hero. Corsage squinted and realized she recognized the foe.
Oh, my god
she said.
What? Arctic asked, Is it Statesman?
No.
Its not your mom, is it?
No, Corsage said grimly, Its Star Slayer.
((Okay, I goofed. Turns out Star Slayer is an old Hulk villain. Not wanting to confuse anyone with a perceived crossover of lame Marvel characters, Star Slayer will be henceforth referred to as Sun Slayer. Hope there is a minimum of confusion.))
His skin was a radiant gold. His hair was long and pearl white. His costume, black with trim in red and purple, gave him an air of both menace and royalty. His long cape flowed majestically behind him as he flew. He was the Sun Slayer, Cosmic Guardian and Intergalactic Champion.
Corsage rubbed her eyes and looked at him again. She still couldnt believe it.
Sun who? Arctic Amazon asked.
Sun Slayer, Corsage responded, Hes an alien, some kind of galactic enforcer. He only shows up on Earth whenever were faced with cosmic scale peril.
Well, whats he doing messin with us?
I dont know. But if you cant tell by his name, this guy is scary powerful. We have to get out of here.
Not a chance, said Diver 8, I didnt come all this way to leave empty handed.
Above them Sun Slayer rocketed towards Warwind and Hate. He shrugged off their blasts as if they were nothing. As he closed in on them his hands started to charge with a golden glow. He thrust them forward, pointing at his adversaries. Corsage raised her communicator to her lips.
Doc! Baron! Get out of there!
Diver grabbed at her wrist to keep her from sounding a retreat. A wide beam of light emanated from Sun Slayers hands and hurled towards the villains. It exploded on top of them in a brilliant display, sending them spiralling out of the sky. Warwind landed on top of the building that had hidden the Longbow ambush. Doctor Hate hit the ground in front of Corsages detachment. They all winced as he and his bare torso skid several feet across the pavement.
Curses
hissed the Doctor.
He stood up slowly. Corsage had to actively keep herself from vomiting when she saw the extent of the damage he suffered. His flesh had been torn away in chunks along his back, revealing the dark sinew underneath. She could see that some of his ribs had snapped.
She scanned the skies again. She couldnt see Warwind on top of the building, but Sun Slayer was descending towards his position.
Damn it. Damn it! DAMN IT! Diver 8 howled, almost overloading his helmets speaker.
He quickly composed himself and whirled on his team.
Moon Wisp. Toy Boy. Get in that bank and get that money to the flyer. Now!
Without responding they both hurried away. Diver addressed Arctic Amazon next.
Get up there and bail out Warwind.
The beautiful giant nodded. She summoned a freezing wind that lifted her into the air and towards the fray. Corsage looked quizically at her leader.
What are we gonna do? she asked.
You. What you are gonna do is play nurse for the Doctor.
Excuse me? she spat, angry and indignant, Then what are you gonna do?
Ive got to clean up Hysterias mess.
Corsage saw them coming now. The wrench lady and the sword guy had fully recovered and had resumed their pursuit. Diver marched with a grim determination to meet them. She stewed for a second to get her temper back under control then went to attend to her injured teammate.
You okay, Doc?
Stand aside, girl, he said, Your soul is not blackened enough to stand beside Doctor Hate!
Oh, what is with you guys!? she cried, exasperated, Were all gonna die here and nobody wants my help?
Doctor Hate did not answer her. He stood still, concentrating. Black ethereal flames appeared on the ground beneath him, and quickly spread upwards consuming his whole body. Instead of searing his flesh, it had the opposite effect. Within moments his all of his wounds had mended. Not a single scar remained. The flames dissipated and without looking back Doctor Hate flew off towards the others.
Corsage was alone except for the paralyzed and bleeding Longbow agents strewn about the intersection. She was confused and angry and not just a little bit scared. Her team was split, with three of them foolishly challenging the nigh invulnerable Sun Slayer. She needed to help, to do something. Corsage was not going back to prison. She thought about everything she knew about the cosmic hero. She met him once about five years ago. He was warning her parents and their super team about some interdimensional hoopla. She closed her eyes and tried to picture it. There was something odd about that meeting. Something to do with her
Another golden explosion popped overhead. Her communicator carried to her the voices of her teammates, screaming in pain and rage. Corsage needed to act quickly. She scanned her memory again.
He stood in the foyer of their house. He was so tall and imposing, so self assured in his posture. Except when she tried to shake his hand
Thats it! Corsage said aloud to herself, Alright, Sun Slayer! Time to-
She couldnt finish her sentence. A chunk of metal (she learned later that it was a link from one of Warwinds chains) slammed into her forehead. Her skin split open and green blood flowed down the right side of her face. She lost all sense of balance and blacked out before she hit the ground.
----------------------------
She opened her eyes. She felt numb and could not hear anything. Her vision was blurred and she wondered idly if she was dead.
There was someone lying next to her.
She could hear. The unmistakable crackle of Diver 8s speaker was shouting again. The words eluded her, but she knew he was barking orders. She wished he would mellow out. For all of his planning, for all of his demands, she was still lying face down in the street next to-
She found that she could move. She raised her left hand and wiped blood from her eye. She blinked rapidly and her vison cleared a little. She heard Toy Boys boisterous voice from her communicator.
We got it, Diver, he said, This is the emptiest vault in Paragon City!
Good work. Now get out here. Were leaving.
She heard Divers voice more clearly than Toy Boys. He must be close by. She fought off a throbbing impulse to pass out again and slowly pushed herself up onto her knees.
One step at a time, she thought to herself.
She was heartened by the news of their impending exit. She reached over to wake her teammate, the one who was lying so still beside her. As she moved the full spectrum of the rainbow returned to her and the blurriness was all but gone. She recognized the form she was reaching for. It was Baron Warwind.
More specifically it was his head.
Baron Warwinds severed head was laying beside her, his neck now a smoking stump. She recoiled in horror and jumped to her feet. The sudden drop in blood pressure caused her to swoon. Before she could fall again the cold metal arms of her leader caught her.
You still with us? he asked.
Corsage nodded slowly.
What happened? she managed.
Sun Slayer. He really did a number on us. I thought we were all done for, but finally the Doc lured him away. Hes trying to lose him right now so we can escape.
Corsage saw Moon Wisp and Toy Boy had left the bank and were running towards them. Hate was baiting Sun Slayer. Diver was here and Warwind was dead. That left
Wheres Arctic? Corsage asked.
Im right here, said Arctic Amazon stepping out from behind Diver 8.
Corsage was overwhelmed with relief to see her only friend safe after Sun Slayers assault. She charged and gave her giant companion a hug. Arctic Amazon, just a little embarrassed, tried to gently break free from the green teen.
Hey, cmon, she protested, Thats enough of that. Jeez, why are you always trying to hug me when youre bleeding?
Corsage released her grip and stepped back.
Sorry, she said, Im just glad youre alive. And that your head is still on.
Moon Wisp and Toy Boy caught up to the others. Five villains stood in the decimated intersection. They waited for Diver 8 to give them the signal to leave.
Alright, he said in a voice softer than they were used to hearing from him, Its time to go.
Corsage raised a bloody eyebrow.
What about Doctor Hate?
Diver 8 paused and they heard him take a deep breath.
He eventually responded, Look. We cant risk Sun Slayer following him back to the flyer. Well get blown out of the sky. Our money will get blown out of the sky. Hes gonna have to take one for the team.
The filthy rich team! Toy Boy added.
Their wrist communicators chirped with an incoming message.
You imbeciles do realize that this channel is open, do you not? said Doctor Hate through the devices.
Toy Boy winced probably wishing that he hadnt said anything. Diver 8 took another meditated pause before replying.
Yea, sorry Doc, he said, Its gotta be like this.
Bah! I care not of your ill gotten loot. Flee like the vermin you are! I have tired of goading the champion of light. It is time for him to taste the emptiness of his own soul!
Hold that thought, Doc. Corsage spoke into her communicator.
The others looked at her quizzically.
Hold what thought? Toy Boy asked, I dont even understand what he said.
Cmon, girl, Diver said, He doesnt even care were leaving. And we cant save him.
Corsage glared at her leader.
Look, she said, This isnt about rescuing Doctor Hate. If we leave now without beating Sun Slayer, everyone will say he chased us out of town. That he saved the day.
Yea, so? Were rich. was Divers reply.
I didnt turn my back on everything I was taught as a child and become a super villain to let some golden space bully tell me when the partys over. Ill take out the Sun Slayer. Then we can leave.
She received more incredulous looks. Moon Wisp chuckled softly.
Youll take him out? the Wisp teased, Why, you can barely stand up. Youre practically mulch, darling.
Corsage pretended to ignore her. She stared at Diver 8, trying to prove her determination. Diver stared back at her, and though she could not see his expression, she knew she had gotten through to him.
Alright. He said finally.
The young villainess turned to the others.
Okay. Heres what were gonna do
--------------------------------------------
Corsage and Moon Wisp were holding hands again. They were waiting on the corner sidewalk two blocks south of the bank. It seemed a wise decision to move their arena of combat to a fresh environment as it wouldnt help any of them if one of the buildings damaged in Sun Slayers attack collapsed on them.
Corsage peered through the blue veil of the Wisps cloak. She scanned the area to make sure all the pieces were in play. Above them she could see the black and golden trails of Hate and Sun Slayer slicing through the sky.
Here they come, she said.
Moon Wisps grip tightened. She was scared and could not hide it any longer.
Youre sure this will work?
Corsage smiled.
Nope.
Doctor Hate landed several feet away from the girls in the middle of the street. He whirled around and pointed his gloved fist into the air towards his pursuer. Sun Slayer was faster on the draw and hurled a blast of solar energy at the villain. With the precision of a surgeon it sliced off his left leg below the knee. Hate snarled and fell over. He fired his Hate Ray, but it was wide of his target.
Corsage tugged on Moon Wisp and they started walking towards them, slowly and deliberately. They stepped lightly to avoid being heard. The Slayer landed and loomed over Doctor Hate. He eyed the crippled villain with an air of contempt.
Where are your allies? he asked.
Eating children, I imagine. The Doctor spat.
Sun Slayer absently pointed at Hates right hand and a beam of light shot outwards. The doctor lost another appendage to the hero and again howled in pain.
I wont ask you again.
Doctor Hates yellow eyes began to darken. He seethed with teeth clenched and his body trembled almost in a seizure. Negative energy started to emanate and pulse from his skin.
Hatred
is
ETERNAL!
A wall of black exploded outwards from the corrupt villain. It slammed into the hero and momentarily covered him completely. The darkness swirled around him like an oily fog , then slowly faded.
Sun Slayer was unfazed.
Angrily he thrust both his fist forward and shot the Doctor in the chest. It seared a hole straight through his torso. Doctor Hate slumped backwards unceremoniously. Corsage and Wisp were only meters away, but still too far. With Hate dead she had nothing to hold the Slayer in position. It was time for the second wave.
Diver. She said softly into her wrist.
The manhole cover directly behind the hero exploded into the air. Before the Slayer could react the armored hands of Diver 8 reached up from underground and grabbed his ankles. With his immense mechanical strength, the armored brute yanked hard and caused the heroic blaster to fall forward onto the corpse of Doctor Hate. Now enraged, he twisted against the villains grip and attempted to turn around and blast this new menace.
Arctic.
Arctic Amazon raced out from an alleyway. She stretched her arm out towards Sun Slayer, focusing her icy powers on him. The Slayer shivered and his breath became visible. Icicles started to form on his skin. She was freezing his blood inside his body.
What manner of witchcraft is this? he demanded.
Amazonian, Arctic replied, The best kind.
Sun Slayer released a bone chilling scream and tensed his body. He was focusing his solar powers. Corsage tried to quicken their pace before he erupted with righteous fury. The hero roared and the ice started to melt. Divers metallic gloves started to glow from the heat. He had to release his hold before his suit melted.
Only a few more steps, Corsage thought to herself as she neared the prone hero and watched her leader duck back into the sewers.
Moon Wisp suddenly broke free from Corsages grasp and ran in the other direction. The blue haze fled from her eyes and the young dominator was now exposed. Sun Slayer stood up, radiating with an angry orange.
Dammit, Wisp, Arctic Amazon yelled, You filthy coward!
Corsage waved off Arctic. She could not contain him and need not be incinerated. With a hint of apprehension on her face, the Amazon whisked herself to safety riding a chilling blast of air. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, for Corsage the Sun Slayer did not pursue. He faced the green girl and gave her a curious look.
Dont I know you? he asked.
Corsage didnt say. She leapt towards him like a cat. Shocked by her audacity, he did not react and blast her to pieces. She pounced on his chest and wrapped her legs around his torso. She grabbed his head in her hands. The heat coming from his body made her feel like she was boiling. She needed to act fast before she cooked to death. She thrust her face forward and pressed her lips against his.
The Sun Slayers eyes widened with fear as they kissed.
Of course it wasnt a kiss by conventional terms. Corsage was blowing a toxic mist into Sun Slayers mouth. Normally, this would cause the victim to hallucinate and panic, but she knew it would have a more sever effect on the cosmic hero. She surmised the reason he kept his distance from her during their first meeting.
Sun Slayer was allergic to her.
The Slayer gasped for air as his face and throat swelled like a meaty ballon. Corsage kicked herself free from the doomed hero and fell onto her back. The burning sensation started to fade, and she seemed no worse for wear. In fact she felt better than ever.
Thank heaven for photosynthesis, she thought.
The Sun Slayer did not want to go down with out a fight. He blasted his solar rays randomly trying to annihilate the young villainess. He didnt even come close and finally fell to his knees. His puffy, mucus filled eyes met hers. She found she could not look away and it seemed their visual embrace lasted for an eternity. A cold shiver ran up Corsages back when he slumped forward, limp and lifeless. She had never killed anyone before. Suddenly she heard her mothers voice in her head again.
You're just like your father.
There was no going back now. Not only was she a criminal, she was a murderer. No chance for homecomings. No chance for forgiveness. Not after this.
Corsage stood up. She was without live company. The bodies of Doctor Hate and the dead alien flanked her. She lifted her hands towards the heavens and loosed and howled. It was not a cry of sadness, fear or remorse.
It was the maniacal cackle of victory.
Corsage was a super villain, now and forever. The world would now know her name and fear it.
She was so wrapped up in her triumph that she barely noticed Doctor Hates body explode with black fire. He was lofted upwards by an unseen force, and like before his wounds mended under the flames touch. The hole in his chest, his disembodied leg and melted hand all became fully healed. She gave him a sideways glance as he settled back to the earth beside her.
Blackened enough for ya? she asked the Doctor, referring to her soul.
You are a true gift to the forces of Evil, my lady, he gushed.
Damn straight I am.
What the hell is goin on up there? Divers voice shouted through their communicators.
Corsage has killed Sun Slayer. Hate informed him.
A chorus of congratulations met her from Toy Boy and Arctic Amazon, who both made their way to her. Toy Boy leaped dwn from his position atop the post office and gave his green companion a hug.
You are so cool! he declared, I want your autograph or something!
Diver climbed out of the sewers to see for himself. His obnoxious voicebox was finally speechless. Arctic Amazon looked at her young ward with a mix of adoration and jealousy.
Corsage could only smile. She wished Moon Wisp were here so she could
Oh, crap. She said aloud.
The others realized the problem at the same time. Wisp was nowhere to be seen. Without that infernal stalkers help, getting out of town was going to be dificult. Something else occurred to Corsage.
Double crap.
Moon Wisp could teleport herself to the flyer. The money was in the flyer.
All of their worst fears were realized when Diver hailed the ships pilot and was met with a sultry and silky voice.
Arachnos Flyer reporting, the Moon Wisp transmitted.
Wisp, Diver 8 said slowly, Dont do it.
Congratulations on slaying the Slayer, Corsage, she said ignoring Diver, Im sure Recluse will erect a statue honoring your achievment. Too bad youll never make it back to the Isles to see it.
Corsage wailed, You [censored]!
There was no response. Their escape plan had escaped without them. The five villains noticed with mounting horror that the horizon in all directions had become alive with angry spandex. An army of young heroes that called Atlas Park home were charging at them from all sides with steely eyes and determined countenances, all demanding vindication.
Refusing to let it end this way, Corsage reached into her boot and grabbed the bag of tulip seeds she had hidden. She dumped the seeds unto her left hand and wiped the blood on her forehead with her right. The others, frozen and dumbfounded, just watched. She clapped her hands together and focused all of her concentration on her unborn flowers. She could make this work. All they needed was a little food. The rich nutrients in Corsages blood should suffice.
What are you-
It was all Toy Boy could manage before the seeds in her hands erupted in a floral tidal wave of destruction. Dozens upon dozens of man sized tulips flew outward and landed on legs made of roots. They scurried in all directions, spinning their petals with suprising menace. The heroes were all caught off guard and hesitated in their assault. That was the only opening they would be given and Corsage knew it.
She pulled a booming voice from her diafragm and shouted, RUN!
And run they did. The flowers worked wonderfully creating a diversion as the quintet of villians scattered in different directions. After only a few seconds, Corsage found herself running north, alone against a sea of costumed champions and her plant minions. With the extra power she had absorbed from the late Sun Slayer, she found it amazingly easy to keep the tulips active and dangerous. In addition every tree, flowered pot and lonesome weed in the sidewalk all sprang to savage, animated life as she passed. The rookie heroes of Atlas Park had their hands full trying to get their gloved hands on the young villainess.
She could see the park ahead. The green dominator smiled. She wasnt going to make it out of Atlas Park. She could not fly and had no vehicle. But with her extra boost she sure could really mess it up.
She popped out her thorns and slashed a fat tanker that tried to grab her. The goliath of a man toppled over on top of a machine gun wielding blaster that was taking careful aim. Corsage laughed as she looked over shoulder.
This is too easy! She thought to herself and then promptly tripped over Danger Droids arm.
She flew into the air and fell on her face. Her lip split open and she thought for a moment that she would lose consciousness again. The plants in her control all wavered in their attack as she momentarily lost concentration. She realized that she was breathless from her constant sprint and could not force herself to stand. She heard boots pounding pavement coming towards her from behind.
No, not here, she thought, Let me finish this where it started.
Her body didnt give in to her plea. The strength she found could only roll her over to see what was coming. A skinny hero clad in a crimson and pink costume was barreling towards her. He had a huge top hat and a moustache straight out of a cartoon french restaurant. There were more good guys behind him, but it looked like this weirdo was going to get the collar. As he neared he pulled off his hat and retrieved a handful of throwing knives. Corsage did not look away as he threw them at her. She could tell from the trajectory that they were aimed at her arms and legs. He was going to take her alive.
Apparantly that was easier said than done. The blades disintegrated in a brilliant blue blast of plasma energy. Both Corsage and the lanky hero were stunned as the Toy Boy fell from the heavens like a maniacal angel. He landed between the two of them and pulled a small teddy bear from his bandolier.
You got some nice toys there, Pierre, he said, Here. Try one of mine.
He threw the bear at the hero and hit him squarely in the face. Upon impact the stuffed toy burst outward with sticky white strands. It enveloped his head and squeezed tight. The shocked crusader ran about with hands clutched to his face trying to free himself.
With his trademarked smirk the Toy Boy turned to his cohort and extended his hand towards her. The sun shone behind his bright orange hair and gleamed off of his goggles. Suddenly, Toy Boy was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.
Come, my queen, he said, Your chariot awaits.
She took his hand and he lifted her to her feet. They could feel eachothers pulses pound beneath their gloves with their chests only centimeters from touching. Corsage noticed for the first time that his eyes were green. She was nervous again, but was surprised that it didnt involve the mass pursuit that was closing in on them. She took a breath before speaking.
You got a plan?
Toy Boys grin widened.
Oh, yea.
----------------------
This time Corsage wasnt scared clinging to Toy Boys back as they took super leaps over the angry city. She did her best to command the bits of flora beneath them and Toy Boy occasionally dropped exploding knick knacks to the ground below. They fled east into The Hollows. Once they had cleared the vicinity of their heist the righteous pursuit of the super powered do-gooders thinned. And Corsage could see why: The various gangs that called Atlas Park had taken Operation: Mayhem as an opportunity to strike back at their oppressors. The streets were brimming with violence and despair.
Doctor Hate must be having a field day, Corsage thought to herself.
They cleared the police barricades inside The Hollows without so much as a stray bullet in their direction. The violence that this town was known for was in full force with Trolls, Outcasts and policemen scrapping in a deadly menage a trois. As they neared Red River a Circle mage poked his head out a cave to survey the ruckus. Toy Boy shot him in the face as they bounded in front of him. He hooted gleefully as they continued to soar to their rally point.
She could see the river. Floating on the river was a speed boat commandeered by two of her teammates. It was the gorgeous Arctic Amazon and the nefarious Doctor Hate. Toy Boy landed at the shore and deactivated his boots. The jade teenager dismounted her savior and they waded quickly into the water.
Cmon! Arctic called, Hurry up!
Though there was a sense of urgency to her voice, all around them had a serene quality. The rioting was now far away. They were home free.
They were both helped into the boat and before they could settle in Doctor Hate hit the accelerator. They braced themselves as Hate sped towards the mouth of the river, the sea and most importantly, freedom. Corsage stole a glance at Toy Boy as he shook water out of some of gadgets. She sighed to herself, not sure what she was thinking. Turning away, she saw the shore widen with every moment. A thought occurred to her, and though it caused her little concern, she tapped her Amazonian friend on the arm.
Hm?
Diver?
Oh, him, Arctic Amazon said with a grin, He and his heavy [censored] suit had to take the long way round. Hes wading through the sewers heading for an outlet. Toy Boy has a tracking beacon. Well meet him at sea.
Corsage nodded absently and leaned back in her seat. The events of the day were replaying in her mind as the boats motor whirred evenly behind her, lulling her into daydreams.
The world would know her name. And it would be feared.
She smiled lazily to herself as she drifted into sleep.

((Greeting my creative cohorts. This is my first piece of fiction based on the CoX universe and my first post here on the RP forum. It is to commemorate getting my first character to level 50.
While all characters presented here fit the in game archetypes and powersets, some changes were made for dramatic license.
Potentially, this is only the first part of a series chronically the sordid career of my favorite toon and namesake, Corsage. Hope you like it.))
Corsage was used to it. As she strolled through the misty morning streets of Port Oakes the tragically normal people she passed would stare and gawk at her. They would nudge their less observant friends to join them. They would whisper between them about the strange green girl who just walked past their shallow and meaningless lives. Normally it irritated her, but not today. Soon these fools would know her name when they saw her. They would scream it aloud and run in the other direction. Corsage knew this and smiled.
She ran a gloved hand through her large shock of ruby red hair and pulled out a stray butterfly. It must have thought she was some wondrous walking flower. She crushed the insect absently and continued towards the docks. She must be getting close, as the rotten egg smell of pollution and low tide hit her nostrils. She stopped to check her whereabouts. The morning fog was making it difficult see, and she had only been in Port Oakes for a few days. It was only a month before she was languishing in prison. A surprise rescue by Arachnos forces brought her to Mercy Island, the urban wasteland and armpit of the Rogue Isles. She worked off her freedom as a simple exterminator. Most people wouldnt consider killing six foot tall snakes simple, but Corsage still considered it beneath her talents. She was equally surprised that after clearing out a few serpent nests, Arachnos gave her a ferry pass to Port Oakes with no strings attached. No covert missions, no assassinations, nothing.
Do as you please, young lady, her contact had told her, Your destiny is yours to discover.
Corsage decided to just follow the smell to get her to dockside. After a few blocks she could see the water, the ratty wooden piers and some ramshackle buildings that certainly housed the meeting for which she was looking. Suddenly she became nervous. Her stomach was attacked by butterflies. Revenge for your friend? She thought and tried to laugh. She walked towards the wharf side shacks slower now, more deliberate. Everything started to look huge and she was very aware of her tiny five foot, 90 pound stature. This job, as it was made to sound was going to be big. Her old cellmate the Arctic Amazon had given her the tip and the address to attend. Arctic was big league outside of the Zig. No doubt this gathering was going to harbor some heavy hitters. Heavy hitters who might sense her youth and inexperience and pull off her head like a daisy.
Dont fret my little blossom. You have the power to change the world. No matter what others believe, I believe in you.
It was her mothers voice she heard in her head. It made her feel a little better except her mother was a hero. The radiant and pure Sunflower. She said that to her two years ago, when she was to join her mothers super team and save the world from all forms of evil and villainy. Things obviously were different now, and she doubted her mother would be wishing her luck today. Corsage wondered-
Hey, Joey! Lookit this!
Corsage looked around and saw where the voice was coming from. Hellions. Two of them. One of them named Joey she surmised. They approached her menacingly, splitting apart to make it harder to follow them both. She knew right away they meant business.
That is the biggest piece of celery I ever saw, Joey said.
Looks nutritious, Said the other.
Corsage surveyed her surroundings. Lots of dead wood and stone. Not much for her to use, but right behind joey was a patch-
I know, leered Joey, Lets take it back to the pad. Then all the boys can have some.
Corsage locked eyes with Joey. Her nervousness was gone. This was a fight she would win.
What? You want some of this? Joey taunted.
Not me, she said replied, My friend.
A small patch of crab grass that was formerly trampled and half brown grew to the size of a mailbox at the command of the young super villainess. In the blink of an eye it formed into a hand and grabbed Joey the Hellion and squeezed him with unearthly might. Joey tried to escape, he tried to scream, but the grip was too tight. His eyes bulged as the crabgrass grew even larger and covered him almost completely. The other Hellion was frozen in shock as he saw his friend consumed. Only Joeys arm was free, groping hopelessly for his friend to free him.
Corsage turned her attention to the other Hellion.
I didnt catch your name.
I-its Mike. My names M-mike. He quivered.
Mike.
Mike nodded weakly.
My name is Corsage. You will remember it. For the rest of your life you the first thing you will do when you wake up is thank whatever gods you worship that the magnificent and all-powerful Corsage spared your insignificant-
WHACK!
Mike the quivering Hellion punched her squarely in the nose. Corsage stumbled backwards, stunned by his blow and his gall. Losing her concentration, the crab grass monster released the now unconscious Joey and returned to its normal form. She felt blood trickling down to her upper lip. Mike who was just as surprised as she at his attack hesitated in finishing her. Corsage recovered her senses and now trembled with rage. She unleashed a shrill and girlish scream. Mike took that as a sign of weakness and closed in on her.
Like many female super villains, Corsage had a lot of flesh showing through her costume. Her top was basically a one piece bikini with a jagged V design descending to just below her naval. Outside of her spiked gloves and boots her arms and legs were bare. But unlike the others, this young rogue had a reason to show off her skin.
Thorns.
Corsage again terrified the poor gang member when she sprouted long, slender thorns on her exposed skin. The sight of his former victim now covered in savage barbs was too much for Mike. He turned and ran. Corsage raised her right arm and violently snapped it forward causing the thorns to propel through the air towards the fleeing target. More than a half dozen spikes hit him in the back. Mike fell forward and howled in pain. Corsage loved hearing that sound. She watched him struggle to get up and continue his escape. He fell and started to convulse. The toxins in her thorns were now coursing through his veins. He raised himself weakly to his hands and knees and vomited abruptly. He then lost all control of his extremities and fell face first into his own puke. The furious villainess retracted her thorns back into her body. This fight was over.
But she was still bleeding. Dark seaweed colored liquid was still dribbling weakly from her nose. Oh, no! she thought, I cant go to the meeting like this! Theyll laugh me out the door. What will I do? Tears started to well in her pale green eyes and suddenly she was crying. She had gone from super powered menace to sixteen year girl in about ten seconds. She stomped over to Mikes slumped form and started kicking him wildly.
You bastards! she howled in her tantrum, How dare you!? Youll be sorry! Ill show you! Ill show you all!
Oh, dear, a familiar voice spoke from behind her, What am I going to do with you, little girl?
Corsage stopped assaulting her paralyzed foe. She felt a faint chill in the air as she turned around.
