The End of Heroes-Paragon's Fall (Open RP)
"Not gone. Grace can only repel darkness, destroying it outright is something else." White Masque said in a worried voice. He pointed to the nearest corner of the room, and then something odd pointed itself out.
There were no longer any shadows in the room. The flash had chased all of them away. But there was just the faintest flicker of darkness seeping back into position from all around.
"We're safe for the moment, it takes a few minutes for that little trick to wear off, and darkness cannot exist while it lasts. I suggest we take this opprotunity to move." White Masque declared, treating Wonederful with an odd look, but otherwise ignoring him. *Although it was hard to tell, as it was impossible to see Masque's face.*
He paused, before turning back to Goth and asking, "Wait, what was that about a shot?"
((OOC: dang, had hoped my attack did something.. hehe oh well.. hehe))
Pure rubbed his head, then continued to glare. "Okay thanks for the honesty Mr...Anyways.. enough of the "Nicey-Nice" I need more honesty...Who else here is a minion of Miasma?" Pure raised his voice, annoyed but frustrated.
IQ turned quickly, the shot had done its deadly deed but that was the least of the Professor's worries. "Get down! Get down! Whomever shot that is obviously a superior marksman! (or Woman) And if he or she can kill that minion with one clean shot I am going to assume he or she can kill us too! Stay away from any windows or cracks in the wall or any other possible opening!" IQ went down to his knees as he took in the moment to calculate. The same magic which had unlocked all of his human potential while adding its own extraordinary twist to him also made his already formidable intellegence even more so formidable.
It took only seconds for the Professor to establish where the shot had come from; it took only a few moments more for him to find the crack in the wall where the shot made entry. "Here!" He said in an excited tone. He quickly peered out the crack and saw only the dark and gloomy outside. IQ pulled his head back and began to make lightning fast calculations once more, he then turned back to the crack in the wall and peered out again.
"Let's see if there is any response to an unexpected situation." IQ said with a slight tone of vengence. He spotted an old oil barrel just within range of sight and the range of his TK. Using his power he levitated the barrel off the ground and using the calculations and triangulations he had done in his head, he whipped the barrel toward where the shot had originated. He doubted seriously he would hit the shooter, hell, he may not even come close, but he wanted the shooter to be aware that his moment of surprise was lost. It was real "shot in the dark".. (forgive pun)..
"I'm sure there are no more minions of the miasma here, else the light would have driven them off." White Masque answered Pure. "Now really people, we should-" He was interupted by IQ's outburst.
"Oh for...There's no need for that!" Masque cried out, gliding towards the doctor, as if to stop him. Too late, the telekinetic barrel already well on its way. IQ had just unwittingly made himself a sitting duck! If the marksman had moved from his original location, it would be all too easy to put a bullet through the man's eye as it peered through the crack in the wall.
"I'm sure the marksman would not fall for that. I agree, we should move to another area,"Emaa said. "But we should not be seen as well.....If you all stay close I can make you inviable with my shadow fall,"she said more.
Pure calmed himself then apologized for his outburst, then shook his head at the new outburst, IQ attempt on the marksman...whom is unknown. Pure fell to the floor to sit, crossing his legs in the process, obviously on the brink of insanitiy with all the commotion. He rested his head on his hand, and watched the commotion once more, rubbing his temple with his free hand. He then turned to the Corucopia, Masque had summoned, snatched it, and muttered, "Chewing Gum?" At the command a peice of gum shot into Pure's hand, and he threw it in his mouth and set down the Corucopia, and began to chew on it, calming...as the commotion rages on.
[As you can see Pure is a bit...annoyed by this whole thing hehe]

Reaga was almost 50 yards from the building, beginning to turn to circle the area to map out triangulation scans for his suit's computer when he saw an explosion. It came from where he had been lying when he sniped the woman-miasma thing. The heroes had obviously discovered his position in record time. This is going to be fun. I hope the bounty on their heads is worth the trouble they are going to put me through.
Reaga began to lower his altitude so as to prove less of a spectacle to the few people on the streets. Instead, he relied on short "hops" from rooftop to rooftop, until he was on the balcony of yet another structure, this one a warehouse not dissimilar to that where the survivors resided.
"Computer, zoom in and begin a thermal scan of the building."
"Zooming to 200% magnification. Thermal scan commencing."
[OOC: It would be helpful for a "head" count of the refugees at this point. I wouldn't want to make another mistake.]
[My count is at 6...unless I mis-counted. Me, Goth, IQ, Masque and (Forum Name : Dradan)]
OOC: Nay, I count 5. Pure, Goth, White Masque, IQ, and Wonederful. It's only 6 if Reaga is a hero. Also, White Masque wouldn't show up on thermal, which brings the count down to 4.

" Scan completed. Detecting four sources of heat above surrounding air temperature."
"Good." Reaga was anxious to discover how those people down there had managed to find his vantage point a few seconds after his departure. He was about to employ another handy dandy feature that he got of some whelp of a villain who used to work for Arachnos, rest his soul. Reaga reached down to his utility belt and opened a small vial. Three small robotic insects fell into the palm of his hand, each fitted with advanced sensory and video capabilities. Now, to wire their feeds to the suit, and we will be ready to roll.
Down inside the darkened warehouse, a small spider crawled under a door. It promptly scuttled across the dirty floor to a corner, crawled up the wall, and surveyed the room. A small sound dish appeared out of it's abdomen. The feed went back in real time to Reaga, quietly sitting on a moth-eaten couch in the neighboring warehouse.
Lets see here... Wait. There are 5 in this room! I don't remember seeing the ghostly fellow. Either he managed to get in there between the time of my scan and the bots, or he does not show up on thermal. Meaning he isn't even remotely human. Maybe he's related to this Miasma thing surfacing around the net. Can he be hurt? Or shot? The woman could, but she would he been seen. He seems to be the real prize here. Aeon is going to flip for his "hide" back at Cap. The real trick is how to immobilize him, or restrain him in order to get him to Cap.
[Pun quite intended]
Reaga resumed his leisure, waiting for something interesting to appear in their conversation. He would soon have names, and then he could find whatever was on the net. He only needed time...
"Too much noise..." White Masque growled, his high-flown voice suddenly replaced with menace. "I hate this plane...Can everybody just shut up for a moment while we-" White Masque stopped mid-sentence and watched as the small spiderling crawled under the door, ran along the side of the room, up the wall, and tried to appear inconspicuous. There were no shadows in the room thanks to White Masque's little trick he had just pulled. Trying to hide anywhere using the natural lighting wasn't going to work for another few minutes, until whatever White Masque had done wore off.
Masque tuned everything else out for a moment. Either the others had seen the spiderling or they hadn't. In either case, things were just a tad too confusing right now. He'd have to take things into his own hands and wait while they sorted themselves out.
"Mask of purity. Reject artifice." He whispered softly.
Reaga's connection with his spiderling was suddenly cut off, and roaring static replaced the image that had been there before. Back in the actual warehouse, the spiderling hadn't reacted at all. It still sat on the wall.
"I'm going out for a while. Feeling a bit light-headed." White Masque said to the group suddenly. "Go on ahead, I'll catch up." He then vanished into thin air.
***
He reappeared outside. This was a welcome diversion, truth be told. Things were just too tangled up right now. He'd let everybody calm down and sort everything out while he took care of their observer. By the time he returned, they should have sorted everything out and things could get moving.
Now was the time for the hunt.
The spiderling within the warehouse suddenly vanished, reappearing in front of White Masque outside. It had been shunted from one spot to another instantly, so perhaps Masque was a teleporter?
"Mask of reason. Expose deception." The radiant figure muttered again.
The spiderling moved! In a very specific direction. White Masque followed it calmly, gliding noiselessly across the ground after it. Within moments, the spiderling would return to the warehouse Reaga was hiding in, with White Masque right behind!
But so what? From what had been observed, this guy was purely empathetic. That and he could make pretty lights, easily rendered useless by a good visor. *Which Reaga probably had.* True, the villain didn't KNOW that yet, but perhaps this situation could turn out in his favor?
IQ thought a minute and looked at Wonederful and spoke in a more calm voice. "Stories? Ahh, I see where you are going with this, you also seek answers to questions we do not have. Still I agree that we need more information. I am Professor IQ, I was working my way through Baumtown when this 'miasma' struck. It literally struck from nowhere and just started dealing its deadly objectives.
I had lept to the top of a rather tall building when I saw the destruction below. My instincts told me this was not going to go well and my intellect and rather strong mental powers made me realize the predicament I was in. So, I left post haste. That is when the 'miasma' started to ..."
IQ's voice trailed off as White Masque headed out. "Ooo kay.., I know you are powerful Masque but I do hope you will be careful out there, we do not know what we deal with.."
The Masque had gone and the Professor was still at a loss as to the next move. "I believe we will need to go somewhere else to make our encampment, but... as to exactly where, I am not sure. Any ideas?" IQ stated the question to the group as a whole. "Obviously we need to really be careful now, looks like we have more trouble that I had initally feared we might just get." IQ added as an afterthought.
at the thought of miasma trouble Wonederful's dark cloudy aura turns on and he huddles down into a corner with the presence of another man in the room
"uhhh... guys i have a feeling someone not us is here"
"good news nothing mystic like the miasma"

Pure stood up and looked about, still chewing his summoned gum. He watched Masque leave then listened to IQ's story then decided to speak up.
"I was somewhere in the Sewer Network, clearing out some of the Lost for some younger heroes, when the old, dim lights began to flicker. The younger heroes...naive as they were, sprinted ahead even though I warned them to stay back...it just didn't feel right. Anyways...they sprinted forward, I stood there watching their fatal mistake. I heard their feet splash in the sewer water for a moment or two...then silence. The sewers when completely dark for a moment, then the lights flickered on...and from down the sewers I could see a hulking mass...what seemed to be a Kheldin Dwarf of some sort...I started slowly, it didn't seem to notice me, then it threw me a dark look and charged for me. Trying to turn around to quickly I stumbled, but gained balance and began to gather super speed, I turned my head to see the Kheldin Dwarf-like creature was gone, but the entire sewer line behind me was pitch black, but where there was light before the darkness, tendrils flailed about...," Pure looked around before starting again, "I made it out, but it followed me for sometime...I made it out of Paragon...I guess after I made it out that's when it made it's engulfment of the city..." Pure sighed, then looked around finished with his tale.
"well since i dont know whos with us and we have time ill expand on my other story"
"i was actually on a mother ship raid and we succeeded but why we won was the rikti all of them dropped dead right in the middle of it"
"no one knew what was going on then from the middle of the ship the darkness came every hero ran some of my teamates summoned a portal to ourobous i never heard from them after that i kept running. well... flying i am one of the fastest flyers in this city. once far away from the darkness i transported to my base and went to Kings Row where i met up with some other survivors they gave the nickname Dark because of this aura the darkness attacked again but it didnt attack me i was camoflauged as one of there minions"
"after the second attack i went to the shelter there were only 5 things the other heroes id cards"
"what happened to them i dont want to know. that is when my aura faded. afraid that i would be next i flew and flew til i got to here where is here by the way Atlas, Steel, Skyway?
IQ listened intently to both Pure and Wonederful and tried to imagine their own horrors while trying to put the pieces together. He didn't like the current situation at all.. he was even more worried about the rest of his stablemates. Were Ms. Thunderbird, Amberk, Cycron, and the rest all dead? He certainly hoped not. The fears in his heart though would not rest.
When the question was asked about where they were, IQ realized that he had no idea. In his haste to survive he wasn't even thinking about where he had gone. He sat back a bit and tried to think about where their next move should be... his heart and his mind ached.

Back in his own warehouse, Reaga was having some issues. After a few seconds of extreme verbal abuse, directed towards nothing, he calmed down. So, they found one of my three spiderlings and cut the feed. That flowing individual muttered something before the static.
Reaga stopped the transmission to his bot, replaying what few moments were captured.
"Computer, replay. Filter out background sound. Focus on object 5. Playback."
" Playback commencing. "
What is it that he is saying? 'Ask perity'? Something artifice. Safe bet he knows where I am. Time to prepare.
Reaga flipped over his couch, bracing his body against The armrests. He began reinforcing his gun arm, preparing for what may be a bitter fight.
"Computer, prepare automatic rounds. We have a guest."
"Acknowledged. Number of rounds? "
"Give me 360 to start, with continual replenishing as needed."
"Charging sequence initiated."

Goth looked to the floor after hearing all of their tales. She sighed. "I was leaving leaving my school, yes I do still go to school, but I'm almost out, anyway, I always keep my outfit with me in my backpack, and I saw some misty, dark cloud going over the school, so I ran around a corned and changed really quick. I came back around to see some of the kids being covered in the cloud, it was sending out tinier versions of itself after them. I fought back, but it was a hundred times stronger than me. I ended up fleeing with two people I saved, but they were later taken by the "miasma" while trying to get out of Kings Row with me,"Emma said to them all while she went through the story in her mind. It had been so scary, and she wondered if it would get worse.
The impending confrontation began to bring back memories for Reaga. His decommission from the army black ops, his court marshal, his release. All of thee things trained him to despise the government, along with all of its followers. Especially the hypocritical goody-two-shoes that used to reside in Paragon. So I defied orders to save her and her family. I was punished for disobeying a directive that I felt was wrong. I was punished. If only the poor General were alive to see me now, he would cry for joy. He tried to shape me into the perfect killer, a human weapon, and now that is all I have left.
To Reaga, those inside the warehouse were his enemies. He would give them fair warning to stand down and come quietly, as he did all those he confronted, but he was not hesitant to use his weapon. He was very good at that part.
"M.I.S.S., please bring up a density spectrograph on my visor."
"Density vision mode activated. Should I scan surrounding air frequencies as well?"
"Please do." Reaga actually liked talking to this mechanical companion of his. He steadied his firing arm against the decaying piece of furniture and waited for his target to appear.

"Where did that shot come from?"she asked them all looking around. "There was the light, then I heard a shot and then some blood went into the air.....and then she disappeared...is she gone?"she asked a question once more.
