Not sure if I should post this here...

I'm just taking a wild guess since it involves color.

Well, after a forum makeover (Shout out to Krazy ), I've been wanted to use color to make my posts stand out a bit. Unfortunately, dark orange offends people and others think it's red... And orange is too similar to dark orange. (Atleast in my opinion.)

So, which warm color would best go with my little theme?

Just don't do it, please...In my experience, most people hate reading nondefault colored text in forum posts. Unless we're talking about your sig...which you can do whatever you like there...

Generally I gotta agree with Turbo <;_;>

It just tends to look 'blah' after the first couple colored posts. I think the key is to use color more as a 'splash' effect.

For example: Say you want to emphasize a point; give it a golden yellow. But leave the rest of the text default.

But... But... What about those people that type and pink and purple all the time?

Oh... Right.

Thanks anyways.

It's really up to you but as a general rule of thumb, posting in color only makes you look immature... All those people that color their text and then add sparklies and animation... Nnngh.

If you must go for a color (for a change of pace), pick colors that are closer to the default text for the forums:

On darker forums (like this one) choose colors closer to white and you won't have to worry much about readability.

For example:
Light Yellow (#FFFCC)
Light Pink (#FFCCC)
Light Blue(#CCFFFF)

On a lighter forum, pick darker colors, closer to black text.

Stay away from brights/neon. Those only tend to strain the eye and aren't meant for long strings of text.

Choose from a palette of web safe colors and use some classic dummy text (Lorem Ipsum) to test out your options.

You can use colors in your text as long as you keep the reader in mind.

Just remember that what you write is important, not the color.
