I have a question

What software do people use when making there art?

A lot of people use Photoshop or Painter. If you're looking for something free you could try GIMP or MSPaint.

OpenCanvas is also popular.

Paint Shop Pro 8, one good program before Corel killed it by buying Jasc. Does everything photoshop does, gimp, and OC if you've got a tablet, but it's down to around 30 or 40 bucks when you find it on ebay... And worth every penny.

it really depends on what exactly you want your pictures to look like: whether you draw and scan, color on the computer; paint with mouse; paint with tablet/electric pen; etc. Each program has its good and poor qualities.

I sometimes just get sketchs or inks done of my characters and then color them myself in photoshop. Although it probably won't be anywhere near the quality (in effects) as that Battlewraith's art (I think he uses both Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop).

For coloring, I use Photoshop CS and Painter 10. For inkwork if I don't do it by hand, I use Illustrator CS. Though I'm trying to break free from doing so many digital commissions and trying to do more painted stuff....

I just picked up the trial version of OpenCanvas and I'm absolutely in love with it, plus it's much, much cheaper than a full version of PhotoshopCSx or PSP.

Does the new version of OpenCanvas have the networking option? I used to use that a lot to draw with other folks

I've yet to find it if it does. And it won't open saved OC3 sessions either.

It sure doesn't look that way, but there's no help file on the trial and the website is.. um.. a bit hard to navigate.
