A Question...

So, I see a lot of cool costumes. A lot And, when I see these costumes, I think, Wow, that looks so cool! I want to make that costume. Often, I take a screenshot, and store it to duplicate. I've never used one of the costumes on an active character, but I feel really, really bad when I am in the costume creator doing it. I really want to play with a cool costume, and I can't make any good costumes myself.. So a question: Is cloning very bad? I have a feeling it is, but how do I stop?

Well I think its super duper bad, but theres hope!

What i tend to use and what gives more of a unique cotume is, use more things that pople dont use like hats, helmets, mustaches, hairstyles, and skintones.

The other biggie would be to use more colors from the bottom yes the pinks and cranberry colored stuff, on male tunes they could come out really nice if there dark with adark blue with it.

Try to avoid using the techs to often and take advantage of all the patters you could use with the tights.

Hunt down the original person and make yours the original... mob style... O_O

seriously, you arent actually acting on it, so i dont think its bad. You arent hopping around zones in the cloned costume going "look at me, im <insert name>" So i say let it roll, if you like the looks, maybe you can change them enough to make it yours!

All stories are derivitive works as are all coustumes Bas , A straight clone may well get you the ire of someone if you do it on the same server , with the same powersets and the same or similair name .

The trick is to distill what you think is so awesome about that costume and make it your own by switching colors or asscories or adding a touch of yourself into it .

I have had a few instances where i've run into a clone or doppleganger and get a great deal of fun from determining how two completely different folks come to the same idea

some particular costume combinations are just too good looking to hope that you'll be the only one wearing it .

okay sorta long and rambling tonight it seems

The golden rule is that when in doubt it never hurts to send a simple pm to someone showing off the new costume you created in homage to or inspired by their original work .

9 times out of 10 you'll find the person very flattered , Heck I know im flattered when folks are inspired by something I put together .

All the points here are good. If I really liked another costume I might borrow the awesome color combo with different pieces or perhaps just take one great aspect of it and build around it and make it my own.

If you are totally into someone's costume and wish to make your own you could always put a little blurb in your ID bio space too, something like **Costume inspired by Hero X
