Before the Breakout RP thread - OOC sister thread

OK everyone!

The thread is now open for business, woo!

Don't worry, everyone will have a chance to pester the guard when the flier lands. I wanted to give everyone a chance to introduce their character and perhaps have some conversation first.

A word of note: the flier only holds a small number of people (which is fine as we have had only a small number of sign ups.) If we have anyone who wants to join later, they can be in the yard when the flier lands.

Have fun!

I'm holding off until actual prison scenes. Shadowshock's a prison regular (From his time as a Family goon), but this is his first time dealing with the "Super Block."

Prison scenes you say? Woo hoo!

Here comes the tour of the Zig!

Now, this is the part where I would like to give a brief introduction of all of the areas where the players will be hanging out later. Here's my list:

* The Arena!
* The Pit (scaaaary!)
* Solitary Confinement Cells
* Medbay
* The Yard

Does anyone else have any areas they want to be introduced on the tour? If so, now is the time to speak up!

Perhaps an area where the cons are able to somehow socialize? Like a workshop or gymnasium, or even a cafeteria?

Posted

Oh, a cafeteria should certainly be on the list! I am not as sure about a gym (can't those convicts get plenty of exercise from breaking rocks in the yard!) but think we could work it in somehow.

Great stuff! Anywhere else?

Well, remember, the Zig is a Super-Max. It has no yard, per se. Just a concrete slab that leads up to the multitudinous chain link, razor-wire topped fences. If prisoners are found wandering it, they get tranqued by the tower guards (or are fair game for any passing hero) because it's simply assumed an escape is in progress.

No... We need the gym. Besides, most prisons are equipped with weight rooms and such. The idea is that the prisoners will occupy themselves with bettering their bodies as opposed to butchering each other.

A learning center or library would be nice, too. It's supposed to be a rehabilitation center, after all.

Also, Breaking Rocks... Why has that been coming up in everything I do lately? My dad suggested it for a project we have this summer... A friend suggested it for another project... I even got to talking about the Marines' punitive "CCU" where they spend all day turning big rocks into little rocks and little rocks into littler rocks.

But you are so GOOD at breaking rocks!

Tee hee!

Everyone who wants to be in the cell can be - hooray for character introduction and exposition! Grey, I presume you can be in a nearby cell, maybe within talking distance, if you want to jump in too. (And if not, your cell is too far away. Rats!)

Work detail coming up soon!

I had my introduction. I borrowed from Shawshank Redemption, and had my character and neighboring prisoners take bets on who'd crack first.

Shadowshock pegged Penny. Ten cigs.

If she doesn't break first, he's going to be very ticked.

Hi everyone, wanted to post quickly -

I will be busy for a day or two (Sorry about that) as real life has unexpectedly interfered. However the RL news is GOOD news!

I will be back as quick as I can!

Ok, I was wondering if the cells have the power suppression thing going on. It seems that a few people have done some stuff that a suppression field would not allow, but I'm not sure.

I am aware that Mike the Archon has his super nazi training, but I am not sure about everyone else.

((Blind Messenger has been in the Zig seven/eight times. He has gained a VERY slight resistance.

And his calculations are VERY off... Just you wait... >:3))

Ryuu Hotaka was downright inconsolable. No new cellmate for him? How very tragic...

Perhaps the rumors had spread already. Perhaps it was time to leave - befroe what had really heppened to the mad doctor reached the light of day...

I'm assuming that rather than sticking super villains in a big prison and just "hoping" they have suppression fields everywhere, and then on top of that, admantium bars and on top of that, special cells that are airtight, made of plastic, wrapped in magical saran wrap, etc.

Michael's had military training with elite troops. His only remaining superpower is that he isn't afraid. He's nearly completely worthless without a firearm.

OK. Mr. Upper Class english gentleman might just get his behind kicked a few times then. Understanding the photosynthetic process does you little good against a speeding fist aimed at your face.

Posted

Yeah, and arrogance combined with angry super-villains may not bode well for me either. BTW can someone elaborate as to what the pit is? Or are we seeing this later?

Posted

I'm pretty sure they call the solitary cells 'The Pit' cause when you get stuck in there, all you see is blackness.

And there might be something else moving, just over in those shadows...

Anyway, I'm a bit confused. Has the thread suddenly skipped forward a day or are we still in the first day (aka when everyone was brought in)?

As is common with threads like this, if no one pushes forward the time, it just hangs. So, feel free to catch your character up from yesterday to today.

I'm sort of mentally keeping track of where everyone is, so when characters converge, timelines converge.

Michael is a day forward from the scene where everyone met the interrogation droid. I think most others have spent the night and are on day two as well.

Posted

Okay. I'm a bit more used to everyone deciding that now was the time to move forward a day rather than it just happening.

Now then, posting time.

Sorry about the long post - I couldn't resist!

Here is how I picture the Arena working:

ROUND ONE:
+++++
Single matches against an opponent of your choice. Show off your skills! No suppression fields, no guards to be annoyed - the Arena is yours for the taking! Pick your favorite monster (A T-Rex! A Rikti drone! An extradimensional alien!) Whatever you want to fight - go out and beat it up! Show it who's boss! Whoever wins the Round One fight (I.e., anyone who wants to) gets to move on to...

ROUND TWO!
+++++
Now comes the fun part - the winners of Round One fight each other! Pick a partner, PC or NPC, take the gloves off, and go get 'em! The winners of this round get to go to...

ROUND THREE!
+++++
The winners of Round Two must now team up as they meet their most dangerous opponent (and I am not telling what it is, heh, heh, heh.) They must work together - or die seperately.

Have fun you guys!

I'm a bit confused, do the villains have access to their powers in the arena?

Posted

I don't think they do. I believe you recieve several weapons of your choice (such as a beam rifle and shield) and that's it. If you're experienced using a certain weapon (like pistols or swords) the guards might not allow you to use those weapons purely to increase the entertainment value.

....well, that's how I'd have it, at least,

In the other Zig thread, we had it that the guards provided the competitors with their powers, but the Arena itself is like a prison within a prison, so there isn't really a high chance of escape.

Once victory was achieved, taze, bag, tag, and put them all back in their cells, ready for inspection.

Of course, this could always be a "Special Circumstances" night.

Question: Would anyone care if I happened to attack a gaurd while the Arena was going on? Probably intice a small riot?

Posted

Considering there's a horde of linked-together robots with shockblasters in there, I doubt you'd get too far.
