Cure for the common PuG!
Where in my post did I say I expected to get invited to the perfect 8 player, perfect mix of AT's you ignorant ? I've given plenty of noobs help figuring things out, as I had help when I first started, but you wouldn't know that. You just assumed I haven't, which is why you're a [Censored], and a dumb one at that. I've been on a lot of different teams and always give the bad ones a chance to come together, but if I'm racking up debt and nothing changes, I wait until the end of the mission before leaving. I have NEVER had a good experience with the situation you take exception to. Maybe you have, but I don't really care.
My apologies to the rest of you reading this thread. A better response would have been to suggest ways to help noobs learn how to succeed in PuGs.
1. Communication. If someone isn't familiar with other ATs strengths/weaknesses, let them know. Not having a PB or WS, I didn't know how how important it was to eliminate quants/voids until someone explained it to me. Not everyone knows that pulling is more effective when you can get a mob out of the line of sight of other mobs before smacking them down. Don't expect everyone to know these things. Share your knowledge.
2. It might be better for noobs to join teams to get the experience before creating their own. It won't take long to see the difference between good teams and bad ones and what makes them so.
3. Pay attention to strategies that work and under what circumstances they are effective. The more you know, the better your teams will be. Listen to members of a team who have been through those missions before.
What makes this game great is people's willingness to help others, whether it's teaching noobs or joining forces randomly to fight the invasions. Keep up the good work!
[edited] One more thing, some people have so much experience with various maps they can just run ahead to the next room/elevators. Even using the map, newer players may not realize what flight of stairs/tunnel will take them to the rest of the group. Don't leave people behind!

Warning, /tell rant!:
Gotta disagree on /tells. I'm a team leader, not a salesman. If you join me, great. If not, forget you. I'm not gong to sit there and try to sell you on my team or my mission. Those with "/tell first" in their search description are letting you know they are high maintenance and will likely be a pain to one degree or another. I've even had some of these /tellies try to make me justify why they should grace my team with their esteemed presence. At that point, I just tell them I can do without them.
Best reason of all, why should I bother with /tellies when there are so many people who don't care about that pointless gesture? And it is a pointless gesture, it accomplishes nothing more than stroking the ego of the /tellie. 99% of the in game population couldn't care less about this idiosyncrocy.
And thank Statesman for small favors!
Rant over!

I can play the judgment game too. To me, anyone who invites without a tell is rude and careless and impatient. It's someone who invites anyone who comes up on the search and whatever 7 peolpe join 1st will be his group. It'll also be someone who will listen to no tacticts or suggestions other than his own.
This is a MMO, you play with other people. There's a social aspect to this game. You interact and talk to other people. If you're going to send blind invites because you don't want to talk to people, you might as well play a MM or go play guild wars, where you can invite npcs and have a full team without any human contact.
I normally only ask the level and sometimes where the missions will be. Of the 2 questions, only level really matters to me. The place is just out of curiosity. But it takes 5 sec for you to type the name of the zone or say "we dont know yet". I really don't see what the problem is with having a conversation.
If talking to me annoys you, and you're going to use me as means to get xp, I probably don't want to group with you either.

Do u english much lol?
I feel bad for anyone who has to endure your undeniable charm in-game.
I'm with most people in this thread. It's fairly easy to discern the mediocre to good from the really bad just based on how courteous, prepared, and generally able the leader ends up being.
It should not fall upon people who understand the conventions and nuances of things like decency, respect and consideration to have to not only suffer, but teach those who could care less, especially not in a leisurely gaming environment. Some people will want to, but you can hardly point a finger at those who don't. Avoiding accountability for oneself is far too widespread.
This is not to say we shouldn't give people the benefit of the doubt, but most of the time, the above is true.
I have to agree.
Truthfully, The missions that come from contacts seem larger and/or more complex than those that come from the newspaper/police Radio. I often have only an hour or so, and I want to run paper missions so that I can finish the mission before I have to go. On the other hand, if I have several hours, I am far more interested in running a story arc because the missions seem to have greater salvage/rewards/exp for their completion, and potentially a fun story to read while flying on auto-pilot to the mission.
I also tend to avoid the "RU want 40 misteam?" idiots (No offense, Evil_Sprout) Because, frankly, I am an elitist, and I feel that if someone cannot respect my language, they don't respect anything else, including their teammates. I could care less about perfect grammar, lack of typos, etc. But THE WORD IS YOU! NOT U! You aren't on a cellphone so stop being so flipping lazy. It's not cool, it's not elite, it makes you look like a mentally deranged jackass.

...and 86.3% of all statistics are made up.
Anyone who is too smug, clueless, conceited, or narcissistic to bother with common courtesy is almost certainly not going to run a decent team. If you cant be bothered with being polite, Im afraid I dont want to be bothered with your incompetent team leadership.
So it works out well for everyone.
