When the World Broke (Open RP)
"I'm going to have to ask you to remove those knives from in you mouth before I'm forced to open fire and blow them out." Imbroglio said evenly.
"I don't think those are knives! He is yet another metahuman come to attempt at attack on the most valuable life of our precious Lord Midas!" Kibitzer spoke up.
"Lower your hood, sir." the other robot demanded. "Then we'll see your intentions."
"Well, I hadn't planned to reveal myself so soon," the figure spoke as his hands slipped from the cloak's sleeves - clawed hands covered in a deep-green hide, "but then I hadn't figured on meeting anyone I knew here."
Without further ado, the figure brought his hands to the sides of his hood and threw it back over a very raptor-like head, though not quite as scaly as one would have imagined. Instead, it was skinned in the same deep-green hide as the hands, framing a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and piercing yellow reptilian eyes.
"Though I'm not going to take it any of you remember me." Acid continued, "Doctor Midas Phillis..."

He kicked down the door and walked out, uncloked now he contuned to follow Lyden. The Steel Platoon following Thuel. Thuel leaned aginst a wall and got down low, Lyden in his sights.

For just a moment, Lyden would make eye contact with Thuel. He knew immediately that this person was different, that this was someone to watch out for- hundreds of missions, hundreds of targets had given him that sixth sense. One of the first things Thuel would see about Lyden, though, was that he had climbed up a set of stairs in the back alley, bringing a garbage can with him as a bit of cover- then, when he got to the top, he gave it a swift kick to send it tumbling down the stairs toward him. It was an effective diversion- jagged cans and broken glass flying everywhere with each loud bang the thing made against the metal stairs. For the few second duration of its tumble, it near-completely blocked the line of sight.

Lyden was unsure of what to make of the third party entering the chase, but for now he knew that he would multiply his chances for escape if he could get indoors. Taking a short hop while the trash can still spun and bounced, he dove shoulder first through the upper pane of a glass patio door, and into someone's apartment. Lucklily, the place seemed to be abandoned. Lyden debated for a moment whether to hide or keep moving- then decided on the latter, opening the front door to the apartment and bolting down the hall.
From the looks of things, he was in the hall of a large apartment building. He first ran to the stairwell to begin heading down, but decided against it when he could hear the thundering of another robotic squad coming up toward him. Slamming the stairwell door and running back down the hall, two shots could be heard- Lyden had pulled out his pistol and blown the lock clean off another apartment door, kicking it in and running inside. Again, he hesitated for a moment before running out onto this apartment's porch- he wasn't sure how much time he had, but he wanted to make sure he could get away- and do so without killing anyone. Starting down the fire escape, he pulled a smoke grenade and a concussive grenade from his case- prepared to use either as necessary.
Tam looked down at Midas, Essex and the others in curiosity. Perched on a roof top, the wild maned girl figited. The girl... she ment... something...
A... birthday party... Tam growled, creaping closer to the ledge, her arms draping over and claws digging into the wall.
Looking at the girl was giving her a headache and she didn't know why.

Midas had no idea what this creature could possibly mean. He was obviously metahuman, some kind of mutation made him look like a lizard, and that made him an automatic enemy. He'd spent years fighting metahumans, he'd faced off with commanders of their forces, and had taken it upon himself to know every important mutant figure by looks alone. But he didn't recognize this one. Yet, the lizard man knew him. Was he taunting him?
"Threatening positions, boys." Midas commanded, and at once Kibitzer and Imbroglio had positioned thier axes on opposite sides of Acid's neck, while their cannons aimed at his head.
The robotist squinted, turned his head, and hummed, but he could simply not recognize this man at all. And what was worse, his head hurt again. Damned headaches! The price of genius!
"Explain quickly, I have no love for you kind." Midas commanded roughly, accenting the point by running his hand along his longest, curving scar.
((Jesus christ this is long, im SO sorry but i just got REALLY into it, hope you guys like it ^_^))
Complete and utter darkness, perfect for harness the One Power. Two dark ovals shone through, so dark, that they shined brighter then the harvest moon. Almost before the thought could spring into his head the harvest moons light ran across the features of a boy. Dark skinned, youthful features, his hair in stylish disarray from the mixture of sweat and constant running of his fingers through it. The dark ovals were set into the boys brow. His young features set and stoic as if in deep thought.

The spell ran fluently through the young boys wizened mind, constant use of the power would do this to you, especially so soon after an Awakening, especially one as fearsome and awesome as his had been. The world itself seemed to have shaken when the Harvest Moon granted Keegan Priest, the powers of Wicca, the mother earth, the only true Magick in the world.
The Harvest moons light closed out and left the boys face in totally darkness once again. ThePOWER

he moaned the spell within his mind, thought it was loud enough mentally to shake the inner walls of the temple. The shaking came to a halt as a single light flickered, a rune, the sign of the old Hebrew priests of the Greco-Roman days, though it dated back to the days of early Egypt, the gods carried, the Ankh, or The Cross. The same exact shape inflamed upon the boys muscular chests. The Cross was branded into his skin and shone a bright blue.
change
A single word, so power, yet spoken so suddenly and so subtly, the boy didnt have time to react. The black eyes flashed and widened as all the boys features were illuminated. Runes sprung to life, bright blue, they ran along every open space of brick, whether it be floor, pillar or ceiling, bringing the clay bricks to life. The black eyes peered over every new rune, they had all changed, subtly, this was the history of all Wicca and it had changed in an instant, Who could do this? the boy asked deep within himself, searching for Ku.
Ku, where was he, The Hawaiian God of War, who had inhabited his arm since he was only 13. Truly, he was only a Kheldian who had been stranded on the planet and was captured by the Orenbagen, no the Circle of Thorns, after the Rikti Wars. Orenbagen, where did that come from?
change
There it was again, subtle and sudden. The Power suddenly surged through the boys half naked slim body and he breathed in deeply, his eyes, the black dissipated and a glowing blue, the same as the ruins replaced it. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he felt the loss of The One Power. Nothing is ever truly lost, it only evolves., the mothers voice, but older, wiser. He heard and then the pain came, it began in his chest and lashed out at all his other appendages, he felt as if he had caught fire, finally he fell, with an explosion of pure energy the indented the clay brick walls.

"...Acid..." Essex barely breathed.
The name seemed to come to her from...nowhere, and yet, it was perfectly obvious to her. Frightened, she clung to Dr. Phillis, seemingly startled by her own revelation and the sudden swimming influx of half-memories that threatened to overwhelm her.

Acid seemed ignorant of the weaponry currenlty poised to stike at him. He only grinned a very toothy grin.
"My kind?" he said in thought, "I can assure you my people aren't into abducting cows and humans for probing if that's what you mean. We don't fly in saucers either. In fact, the last time I recall a saucer was in the Eastside, and ever since the guys there started a civil war...damn it, I'm going off on a tangent again, aren't I?"

He needed to see for himself what had changed and what hadn't, still a MAge, no still a Wiccan. His glowing blue eys flared.
Takemetothem...NOW!
Almost before he ended the spell, the runes flashed in coordinance with the rings on his body and the Ankh on his chest and with a large flash he dissapeared.
He would reapear in the alley way near to Essex's turned back. He started in disbelief at the pale features of what seemed to be a human girl, he had been thinking of Essex when he teleported, but who was this.
"Essex...?" he stated curiously behind the group, loud enough so that she could hear.
"Hugh!"
John had leaped for his life away from the cannon, and then disappeared from sight almost entirely. In fact, he had leapt to the side of a structure, and climbed it rather skillfully, watching the conversation quietly from his spot on a rooftop.
However, when he heard the names Acid and Essex, something sparked in his mind. He knew he knew those names, but he couldn't place them. Had they been enemies that he had fought recently? Allies long past?
"Hm... Odd... You would think I would remember these things..." he muttered quietly to himself, getting into a comfortable kneeling position. "Oh well, no need to interrupt just yet... I may find out more about these people without explosions and killing better than jumping in, fists and feet flying."
Krieger had watched as the two took a man prisoner with the aid of a robot. The technology inside the bunker called to him and he began to move towards it, the hulking mechanoid lumbering behind him.
He paused... the nanobots were once again rerouting his internal systems. He could feel his eyes shifting from his skull, though the sensation of pain had long since been erradicated. In the place of his once human-like vision, the world around him came alive in shifting spectrums - from ultraviolet to infrared.
He could suddenly see the heat signatures of the biologicals inside, his new eyes glowing faintly in the dark ocular cavities of his metallic cranium.
His longing for the technology he desperately lacked seemed to give way, being replaced instead with the cold logic of patience. There will be time enough for that later.
Krieger slowly knelt, observing the group with the hostage - through the many layers of concrete and steel. There were other automatons and the cold, robotic portion of his mind would 'infect' them given the chance, if not for the still remaining scraps of humanity that allowed for the recognition of property.
Instead he would wait and observe. From a logical point of view, it was only a matter of time before those last shreds of human nature would vanish forever... and the machine would continue.
Tam looked over at John, the other man not apparently seeing her ten feet away. Slinking backwards, she cruched low on all fours and growled at him.

Thuel had lost his clear line of fire on Lyden, even though he knew that the sniper round would go through 2.2cm of steel composite, he did not want to waste a bullet on someone who is of lesser value. He stood up, glass still falling from when Lyden had threw the trash can.

Thuel hopped over the fence, into the nearest building, he looked around, not seeing Lyden. "Sir, he ran off." He made eye contact with one of the Steel Troopers who saw Lyden run past. "Where did he go?" He got a response "Down the stairs." Thuel ran off down the hall, out to the porch. He looked around, he crouched down low, he hoped he was unseen by Lyden, who was now climbing down the fire exacpe.
Midas opened his mouth to retort, but was startled as a voice sounded out behind him. He spun, nearly toppling Essex, and stared at the runed boy for a moment before pointing a finger at him accusingly and running backwards.
ASSASSIN! he shouted, prompting all three of his robots to abandon their positions and charge the boy, axes spinning wildly, cannons aimed for his chest. Destroy him before he reports our location!
Make a mess, boys! Fracas shouted to the others, charging straight as the others split directions and flanked from either side, coming at the one-time Wiccan from three sides.
When a boy teleported behind her, startling her by saying her name - her codename that her father had given her, no less!! - Essex was petrified. She was already white as a sheet, but had it been possible to go paler, she would have. Compound that with the sudden feral growl from above, and the closing in of the strange lizardman and the man in the trenchcoat.
Clinging to Midas, she buried her face in his neck from behind, shivering in fear. She couldn't let them find her. Wouldn't let them find her. Her father had told her to run...
"Hold onto me." she whispered.
Midas Phillis' feet lifted off the ground as Essex clung to his back, as though the tiny girl was carrying him. The grey blanket fluttered out behind them like a cape...

John looked up from the new 'battle' that just began, and turned toward the growling sound, an eyebrow raised. He caught sight of Tam, and sighed. Standing, he entered a defensive Tae Kwon Doe stance, waiting for her first attack.
"I just want to know... Why does this always happen to me?" he muttered, just loud enough for her to hear.
Acid took this quite well. Few things could surprise him, though a mechanoid turning boilogical was something new.
Wait a second! If that was Essex, was the runed boy...Hallucinogen?
Damn it, I really wish the brothers were here now.
Regardless, an assassin wouldn't bother announcing his presence, so if that wasn't Hal, he was certainly no backstabber of the Overhead. A spy, maybe, but appearing out of teleport at just this random instant...the odds were astronomical.
"Sheesh, calm down." Acid sighed as he stretched a hand toward the boy and the robotic weapons slammed into nothing but a barrier around him, the shield flaring up pale blue with each strike, "You're paranoid as hell. Would an assassin really announce his presence like that?"
Voices from above too...was this random back alley turning into some sort of convention center? It sure was dang popular...

By the time Thuel reached the porch and could see Lyden again, he had already jumped down into the next alley and was running down it. Glancing over his shoulder for a moment, he could see bits and pieces of Thuel poking out from behind the mesh and railing. Thuel would also see now that Lyden had his pistol out, but didn't have it raised as if he was going to shoot at him.
Seeing his pursuer had caught up to him so quickly, Lyden tried to get out of the open as fast as he could, again by way of shooting the lock off the door closest to him- practically tumbling as he shouldered the door to force it open and ran inside. It was an abandoned warehouse, as large as it was cramped- stacks upon stacks of unmarked wooden crates made for narrow, blind hallways. Glinting in the light of the broken windows by the roof were several cables- above-ground winches and trollies that must have been shut down in place when the factory closed. Several still had crates balanced precariously on them.
Lyden was nowhere in sight, but based on the size of the warehouse alone he would definitely still be in it by the time Thuel caught up. By now the pair of them had far outpaced the less versatile Steel Troopers, so there would likely be no more outside interference in this chase- at least, not for awhile.
Orbiting slowly over the city, the helicopter observed every action. A magnifying lens based on the bottom watched people go about their daily business. The co pilot watched on a small screen what the camera saw, screening it for any activity. Suddenly, he jerked the pilots shoulder.
Take a look at this!
He turned his head just in time to see an explosion on the screen. When the smoke cleared, he saw a number of people. He noted that some seemed to be robots.
Keep an eye on it. Im going to report this.
He spoke into the radio. Immediately the message was sent to the Office of Civil Defense, and intercepted by the Secret Police. The officer listened carefully to the message. He spoke to his dispatcher.
Put the block under lockdown. Send four teams. Prepare for possible meta-human engagement.

Alarms started ringing over the block where the group was fighting. A recorded voice spoke in a surprising pleasant tone.
This block has changed to lockdown status. Please stay where you are. To ensure your security, have I.D ready. Thank you. This block has
Four trucks arrived on the scene in a few moments. Barricades where set up. Soldiers, robotic and human alike, spread out over the outside sidewalk. They interrogated anyone nearby. If someone was unfortunate enough to not have government issued I.D, they were hand cuffed and thrown into the truck for later internment. Slowly, the group worked their way into the alleys and inner workings of the block.
Most of the soldiers were simply going about their job, showing little to no interest in causing to much conflict. However, some of the more sadistic found great pleasure in causing discomfort. These people drilled civilians for information, any discrepancy was enough to have him arrested.

[censored]...way to screw things up now., his hands were raised in a show of innocence, but it was already too late for that and he knew it. The robots spread to three seperate sides of him, "Might as well take these new powers for a test drive." the boy said under his breathe.
Eyes still glowing he took a step back planting himself, no wanting to completely destroy the robots, but needing to dissable them, he focused on the thought Shutdowntherobots....shutdowntherobots... the thought ran through his mind repeatedly until it was the only thought in his mind. The new magick locked in and the rune on his chest began to glow. His hands suddenly sprang to life with the glowing blue color of his eyes and with a step forward, his arm pushed outward, sending the magick version of an EMP wave out in all directions, almost as if a buble had surrounded him, then a second later expanded to the span of almot 60 feet around him in all directions. This would shut off any technology within that radias and possibly impede any weaker magick, not stopping it, but causing it to falter for a second.
Suddenly, the radios of the investigators went dead. The cars stalled out for a moment, and lights dimmed. The camera observing the scene fazed out for a brief moment the came back on, to far for anything nearly permanent. The pilot contacted his superiors again.
"Sir. We have possible EMP. Meta-human presence is nearly guaranteed."
"Alright, keep a close eye on it. If anything seems out of hand, we can dispatch more troops."
-----------------------------------------
The infantry on the ground, surprised by the EMP, contacted their officers. The general consensus was to proceed to the epicenter of the blast and take anyone present under arrest. Normally such situations would be handled with lethal force, but word had come from New Mu that any unnecessary deaths would be punished.

Essex and Midas Phillis....were gone.
One of the taller warehouses, scored from years of use, had a broken-in window. The entry-way hidden by boughs of laundry hanging from a low line, it was a simple matter to quickly slip in unseen, especially with the benefit of limited flight. A locked-off attic area, filled with dust, rats, and insects, was nevertheless the perfect hiding place.
Essex was suddenly tired, her vision swimming as she nevertheless tenaciously clung to Midas.

"Ace, we got a problem." suddenly sounded from Acid's 'watch'. The voice was quiet, but he could hear it with no problems at all.
"Go ahead." Acid raised his free left hand, speaking into the instrument.
"There are four ground vehicles advancing on your position. A helo'sw guiding 'em in, and from the looks of 'em, they wanna cause trouble."
Well, that wasn't good. Apparently, security here was tighter than they'd thought - a blatant contradiction seeing how no one seemed to have even bothered to track the data flow to and from the former communciations tower.
This brought up a question of interest: was it better to show Mr. Overhead that there was a new player in town or should he opt to stay hidden for now until he knew more?
Acid decided on the second. As the boy fired off his EMP, the flickering streetlights nearby went out, coating the entire area in thick shadows - perfect for a getaway. Acid's own tech wasn't electronically based for the most part, however, and continued to work just fine.
"Alright guys, we're gonna git now, and..."
Suddenly, Essex and Phillis took off and headed for a warehouse.
Dammit! MORONS! There's a freakin' CHOPPER overhead, it's gonna find you in no time flat!
Well, this had turned into a mess real fast! He couldn't just leave the robots here - according to the files on those approaching soldiers, they were sure to track them to their maker...not to mention 'Hallucinogen?' was still here as well.
And then there were the guys on the roof. Sheesh, any way you twisted it, it all sounded bad!
"Okay, I've had enough." Acid's eyes narrowed at the boy and the bots as he placed a detention field over the magic user. He didn't really care if the robots were still working after that EMP, this needed to be done fast. Acid threw down a smoke grenade.
And in a flash, all of them were gone, teleported - the boy, the bots, the people on the roof, and Acid himself...

Midas and Essex found themselves face to face with Acid once more, his natural affinity for all matters molecular having carried everyone else with him as well.
"Oh sure, just fly away as I start to figure things out." he complained, brushing imaginary dirt off his cloak, "Now if you're all done doing random crud, how about we go somewhere that's actually not patrolled three ways to Sunday...?"
