Xander followed her lead, teleporting himself behind the Rikti and blasting them with waves of darkness. Hopefully the ruse would make them think it was a co-ordinated attack from b oth sides and they'd just flee.
Xander didn't even dare to hold on to that hope, smashing a palpable wave of Nictus black-light into a Rikti Guardian to keep it from bubbling up it's allies.

Lenin save me... another crazy capitalist! Svetlana thought as El Guapo annouced himself in a maner only a few decibles less then Wielder.
"The be lettink us go and end threat to unknowink capitalist sheep above." Not bothering to see if either man followed, the Russian scientist flew down the path the insane, naked man had pointed.

Reginald was saying nothing, and his comrades might not even realize he was there, if not for the arrows that appeared from time to time through Rikti heads.
His presence was confirmed, however, when an automatic turret appeared out of nowhere and began mowing down the aliens with laser blasts. . .
Ryuji had an idea of his own.
With little difficulty, he began climbing to the top of the structure, positioning himself on a piece of machinery and taking aim.
From here he would snipe each and every Rikti he could see with his infectious frozen darts (OOC: they hit something, the ice spreads)
His small size and distance from everything else would give him the advantage of being a small target, not to mention he kept the air around him cold so as to avoid detection by heat sensors.
With that, he lifted his arm, formed an ice spike, and launched it.
Jon managed to catch up with Guapo just about the same time that Rad Spike flew down the hall, still in time to see him and the Weilder of the Painpipe.
"Hey, 'Hero,' let's see those h... HOLY [censored] HELL!! What's happened to your clothes?! I don't even want to know. I don't care! I'm tired of today, I'm tired of these sewers, and I'm tired of you!" he bulldoged the much larger man seemingly unconcerned or unaware of the sheer comedy of standing up to El Guapo Grande.
"Now which way is out of this [censored]-pipe?"
"El Guapo Grande is unsure! El Guapo Grande will likely find his way out eventually, but in the meantime he will deliver swift justice to the vile villains lurking in these sewers!" El Guapo Grande bellowed, responding to Jon's words but not his presence.
With that, El Guapo Grande ran after the tiny foreign girl from a country probably across the big giant puddle he tried to jump across once...except he landed on a pirate ship. Many adventures on the high seas followed!
The Rikti were surpised, to be sure, but they reacted quickly nonetheless.
Every single one of them was protected by their battle armor, and they made judicious use of it, blocking where they could with silver, gold, and ruby-hued arm covers.
Chaos seemed to break out as Riki took their swords and energy rifles to hand, depending on the range the respecive attackers engaged.
None of them spoke - they didn't need to. Their mental communciation was smooth, sophisticated, and worked near the speed of light.
However, the disorder was only an illusion. A keen observer would notice them forming about the cannon and the metal 'tombstones', for some peculiar reason staying out of the circle they created.
"Curious." Hotaka remarked, nocking an arrow and letting it fly as his Jounin covered him from the side. The Rikti he aimed for took the arrow with what seemed to be a chuckle, and pulled his energy gun...
...which promptly exploded as Hotaka's second arrow went right into the glimmering barrel, knocking the Rikti back and into a pile of crates.
"Bullseye." Hotaka smiled, analyzing the situation. Then he came to a realization!
"Don't enter that circle!" he cried out, trying to overhsout the roar of the machines. he pointed desperately at the mages trapped inside the tombstone-circle, trying to ward off anyone from going into it, "No Rikti in there! Something's going to happen! Stay away! No Rikti in there...!"

Ryuji continued loosing darts left and right. It was hardly necessary for his darts to actually damage the target themselves, a direct hit at all would cause his ice to spread across their surface.
His aim was good, he hit quite a few Rikti, causing their armor to begin to develop a layer of ice near the impact areas. He even managed to freeze a few pistols to Rikti holsters.
But this wasn't his real intention. His real intention was to drop the room's temperature.
"HEY GHOST GIRL!" he yelled, not knowing exactly where she was, "Help me lower this place's temperature about forty degrees!"
Mine is the chill of the soul. After-Image said as she appeared next to Ryuji. The attempt to free the Legacy mages had been aborted when her sight showed... something... encircling them.
I can not directly affect living world. However, she did what she could. Calling a large patch of neither energies around them. She wasn't sure if it would work, but it would hurt either.
She hoped.

"An excellent observation," said Reginald, masking his voice so that it was difficult to tell where it was coming from.
((Yup. He pulls this trick too. Come on, what good is invisibility if you give yourself away everytime you talk? :P))
As his turret continued firing at the Rikti, Reginald flew higher. He pulled a small object out of his pocket. . . a Vegan antimatter grenade.
While antimatter was probably the most powerful of all explosive substances in the world he came from, it was difficult to make weapons with it, as it was so hard to contain more than a few atoms, or activate the explosion without killing the user. But the Vegans, as usual, had figured it out.
Reginald had no idea how such things worked, nor did anyone in his world but the Vegans themselves. . . but he hardly needed to, he thought as he attached the grenade to an arrow and fired it at the Rikti, well away from any of his allies. Secret Vegan tech or not, it really just went "boom" like anything else.
((By which I mean. . .s'really just a grenade. ))
(OOC: So it's a grenade that eats plants?)
((Wahahahaha. Vegan=belonging to the star Vega. Thus: Vegans live on the planets that orbit said star. And yeah, I get that a lot. ))
(OOC: So it's vay-gen and not vee-gen?)
((Indeed.))
"Stay out of the circle?" Nena asked as a Rikti blast whizzed over her head, singing her perked ears. "Kay!"
With that, she proceeded to insert a sword's worth of irreconcilable differences between the Rikti before her's torso and legs. Closing in on the swordsgirl, the extraterrestrials were very well guarded - but Nena was made for these sorts of situations, swinging the greatsword gracefully.
"Take care!!" Pariku shouted, filling Xander and Nena with holy power. "May the blessings of Apollo fall upon you!"
At the same time, he was trying to psychically contact the mages.
Do not worry, sirs. We are working to free you. Would you be able to educate us in regards to the machinations of these foul villains?

((How irritating would it be to try an lob a vee-gan grenade? *laughs* Vegan Grenade: I refuse to kill or exploit any living creature! Grenadier: But you're a freakin' bomb! Gyah! This is so frustrating.... *idea* You know, it's a shame I won't be able to defeat these cattle ranchers, and their slaughterhouse/leather tannery will stay in business... Vegan Grenade: What?! *KaBOOM* Grenadier: *sigh* I wish we didn't have to go through this every single freakin' time.))
"COME MY ALLIES!" Wielder shouted as he surged down the tunnel after the Hydralings. "EVIL IS AFOOT AND THE FORCES OF GOOD MUST RISE TO STOP IT AT EVERY TURN!"
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
"Oh holy hell," Jon moaned, moving to follow the heroes, "God hates me. He made two of them."
Hotaka's advice could probably not have come at a batter time.
The circle of metal tombstones uddenly falred up in a blinding blue light, the bound mages screaming their lungs out of their bodies as they were racked with waves upon waves of agony.
But they did not die.
The Rikti wouldn't let them.
If anyone went into the circle now, a crackling mass of energy would swifty repel them, and probably heavily ingure as well, if not outright kill the intruder.
The portal flared to life, punching a hole in the barrier between dimensions, and the cannon at the circle's center greedily soaked up the cracklig energies, loosing them into a coherent beam that struck through the gateway and into the unknown...

"For some reason," came Reginald's voice again, "I don't really like the look of this."
"Holy hell," Xander said under his breath, dropping his guard and staring at the scene in detached stupefication.
Destroy the portal, Stelleshand urged.
"Hmm?" Xander asked, he had been to transfixed to pay attention.
The portal! Destroy it, now! Stelleshand practically screamed into the boy's mind. Whatever they're doing we can not let them succeed!
"Holy hell, you're so right!" Xander said, pulling wave after wave of fortifying life energy from everything around him before exploding in a massive shockwave of black light.
((Double Mire + Quasar))
It was rather obvious Ryuji should be switching targets. Focusing his energies into a large javelin, he took aim at the edge of the portal, seeking to turn it into a portal pop.
Reginald simply sat still, his invisibility dropping, and watched.
"Reggie!" the Oracle said, appearing on his back. "You can't just sit here!"
". . . Though time itself turn back, and all creation be rewritten. . ."
The Oracle's eyes widened. "What on earth. . . Attack the portal already!"
Reginald calmly pulled out an arrow, attached another grenade to it, and let it fly at the portal.
". . .It is complete, isn't it?" Reginald said, turning to the Oracle behind him. "I have already fulfilled it."
"Reggie, please!" the Oracle said irritably. "Just, well. . ."
". . .So fine. Your destiny is complete. I don't know how or why you've realized it. But there is more to live for than destiny. There is still a life ahead of you. FIGHT for it."
Nena's ears lowered in sheer shock as the portal erupted into existance not five feet in front of her.
"No!!" She cried, throwing herself at the barriers that held it together, swinging with all her strength at its framework. Electricity jolted through the sword, and before she knew it she was flung backwards, heaving in pain.
"I...Wha..." she managed to mutter before a wave of Pariku's healing energy brought her back to.
"Let the more ranged-damage inclined handle this one." the arcane sage muttered gruffly, assaulting the portal with waves of flame.
However, he also began to raise small fire cages around the mages in question - if he could get rid of their bindings, or even kill them to relieve their suffering...

"We can't waste any more time!" Nena said. "We've got to launch our frontal assault, NOW!"
"You're going to get us all killed, you know!" Pariku protested. "We have to go about this in a sensible, tactical manner."
"We don't have time for that! The big glowy thingy is gonna blow all of us up, and if we don't DIE, then we'll smell like blown-up sewer for EVER!"
"Then what are you -"
Nena ducked around the side of a large rotating piece of sewer machinery so it looked as though she came from a different direction than the rest.
"HYAAAAH!!" she cried loudly as she brought down the brilliantly glowing holy sword on the first Rikti she could get her hands on.
