A Gift for my Fiance's Birthday! Need Help!

As a some of you may know, Darkfang and I have been together IRL for over 5 1/2 years. We knew each other for a few years before that too... since I was 14 (I'm now closing on 22). We're now engaged. Eeee!

Well... I thought a great present for his 26th Birthday would be a commissioned piece of art featuring one of our duos. We already got a headshot of Captain Galacto and Galacto Girl by David Nakayama, and he kinda wants exclusive drawing rights to Ravenbane and Darkfang (I'm working on talking him out of that one, I want to see what other people do with them ). So, right now, I'm leaning towards one of our Mutant college-sweethearts Battletide and Psycharisma.

I'm not entirely certain on all the specifics for what I want... but I do have one cool image in my head right now that I'll discuss with the artist I choose. I want something that will be colored, and possibly an action shot that I won't have to sell my ova to afford. Got a wedding to plan and all.

I would like suggestions from artists and artist groupies on this board that can recommend good artists for the job (feel free to wh*re yourself out, artistes. ). I want to commission someone with a very comic book-esque art style. For example, three of the ones I'm looking at now are Douglas Shuler (Darkjedi), Brandon McKinney (Cyberlynx), and Gill Bates. That's the kind of style I'm hoping to get for the hubby-to-be's b-day.

Any other suggestions are appreciated, especially if you can provide a website or an e-mail address for the artist. Examples of their work would be great, too! Thanks guys!

P.S. Even though the fiance' is an artist himself, he RARELY comes to this board, so no worries about spoiling it.

Well, you have already picked three very good artists. DJ isnt yet taking commissions again, but will be soon IIRC. I am not sure whether Gill is taking new commisions yet, he has a large backlog at the moment. Brandon, however, is open for work. (shameless plug from a big fan ) Any of them would be an exceptional choice and there are certainly other fine artists around here too.

If you want traditional comic book style, those three are the men to talk to.

I just want to explore all my options, I am HUGE fan of those three, though.

As for how much time I have... fiance' turns 26 at the end of September. I hope that's ample time to commission a quality piece if I order it soon.

Also... Brandon needs to move his [censored] and get that site up that he told me about!

Yep, those are three really AWESOME artists you picked out there Particularly for comic-styled art.

If you're looking for something a little different , though, you should also check out Virtue's own Graver

*shameless plug for best friend*

Graver's got some real talent and a really interesting style, but it's not what I'm looking for. At least not this time.

You could try Poison, I guess.

Don't have his site address around, though.
