Hi!

been playing since Christmas but haven't posted. However, I had a guy do a couple of portraits for me (from www.commissionedcomic.com - he does a lot of fantasy work for D&D and such) and here's the video of him doing it. . .I thought it very cool. . .thought you might enjoy it too!

(Note: the Cinter character doesn't look much like Cinter only because Cinter's body type is Huge and O didn't think much of that and I gave him complete license so. . . I really like his interpretation! )

Thanks for posting that

It is always instructive to see other poeples working.

Now do you think we could convince DJ to do such a video?

Wow, thanks for posting that. As mentioned before, watching other people draw is really a neat experience for me. really puts into perspective what the better people do in terms of their technique, etc.

Besides the cat (which was hillarious), I found it really neat how he put down another sheet of paper to reach areas past what he had already done. So thats the secret to avoid smudging!

Thanks for posting the video, but man, that is nothing like how I draw. I know it's time lapsed, but he just seems insanely fast and good. My video would be me drawing and redrawing one line for like 20 minutes.

As cool as his stuff looks though, to me, the arms looked a little long and the legs looked kinda short. I'm no expert tho.

Grats on the great art

Wow, I draw in a completely different way, probably because my paper's too thick to trace on.

Gotta try his method sometime.

He has to have a LOT of patience to allow those kitties to play right at his work table during a commission job. I dunno, even I have to put my foot down when working at home, and that would definitely be questionable activity when such things as, "Paws OFF" matters.

Otherwise it is nice to hear him talk about the quality of in-game Character-art developed for CoH. This artist also commented that he was puzzled by the look and design of the 'Gigantic' Class in the game, as well as the way certain powers such as ICE effects the referenced look of the game-character.

I would bet he could better understand WHY the CoH Devs had to design their characters with the weight and balance they chose... IF he could simply subscribe to the game and play it for a while. He already admits to playing some other MMOGs, so if he wants to commission work related to CoH, playing the game might give him better insight as to the 'contemporary' look and feel of CoH/CoV characterizations and landscapes. That way he could translate those boundries over to his own work later on. Just my view based on his own comments.

Ahh - I probably should have put a bit more explanation in.

I read his webcomic every day (used to be an RPG'er so can identify with much of the humor. . .still have a d20 around somewhere! )

Every now and again, he gets behind on his normal commissioned work - he teaches, is an art student, does his webcomic daily, and other stuff - when he gets behind, he'll do a Commissionathlon. THIS time, he offered to do a small number of pencil commissions to us, his readers, at a very small price.

He's not interested much in playing MMORPGs. He's a RPG'er. He's the Game/Dungeon Master - it's what he does, it's what he enjoys. There's not much room for a DM in CoH. . .

So -

The arm was long - but that was because it was the start of the frost armor - that wasn't actually the arm, it was the frost extending off it.
