The Addicts Guide to Playing at work
Personally, I use the time at work to read the boards, get up-to-date on my numbers, and to develop discussions and build templates. Then I go home, play for two hours, and I'm a flippin' MASTER.
Though I do love the idea of having the portable harddrive or laptop to play on.
PS. How about a guide for getting a job at Cryptic and taking over for Statesman?
Back after 18 months away!

Picking up a Laptop with a Wireless Broadband Card (like the one from Verizon Wireless... >.> *shameless plug*) isn't a half bad way to do it. The Portable Hard Drive works good alternative, provided your work allows the internet access and relative safety.
It wouldn't do your job any good to get caught doing this. And breaking company rules is a no-no. The more you break, the worse you are if you get caught.

Okay, here's a step-by-step guide to takingover for Statesman.
1. Download both CoH and CoV.
2. Get a bottle of any kind of alcohol.
3. Beat yourself over the head until you fall into a coma.
4. Hope your coma fantasy is about taking over for Statesman. This will scare you away from ever thinking of doing that again.
This is why someplace like Starbucks is your very best friend. CoH runs on most decent laptops these days (Toshiba make a whole line with nvidea built-in). Starbucks have wireless and are everywhere! (I am writing this from a Starbucks that is across the street from another Starbucks!).
So you just need to:
1) Schedule a two hour meeting
2) Grab your laptop
3) Duck out to SB, jump on with your headphones
4) Play for 1:59:59
5) Call your office and tell them you are on the way back but (stuck in traffic/still at the dentist office/behind a long funeral precession/stuck on the train/talking a friend out of suicide)
6) Play for another 1:59:59
7) head back to work
I popped levels 47/48 a few blocks from work using a version of this.
Enjoy!

I'll have to look into getting a dependable Laptop now. Would certainly beat playing on the computers here at work.
wonder if its playable on a Dell GX270, windows XP pro SP2, 512mb ram, P4 2.8, GeForce4 MX440 AGP8X 64mb?
Anyone know?

probably would work okay, might have to turn down your graphic settings
there is no way i could play from work, i don't have the computer to do it, (crappy government computers) plus while i am at work is usually when my wife uses my account to play at home since she stays home. i spend my time at work were i can get on a computer reading the boards and using the character builder tool to perfect my toons.
does anyone know were i can get a I6 character builder, the one i have it a I5 one so it doesn't show the effects of ED and the changes to the order of the powers.
Actually I ran into company firewall/other packet security issues that prevent me from connecting to the game (not local firewall). Actually I can play video games at work (Software Engineer) so long as I finish all the work I promised to complete. I get jealous of the guy playing Civilization IV a few offices down...
But BEST occupation to play games at work is COLLEGE PROFESSOR WITH TENURE! I almost missed graduating because one of my college computer sci professor was gaming it up all day long (starcraft & Quake) at night he would play hockey (real hockey). Everyday I would say "You know that if you don't turn in my grades to the main office I am going to miss graduating." and he would ensure me that he would get to it....

Phase shift used to be a player-at-work's best friend. Ah well...
...on a side note, after reading this guide I suddenly understand the quircky behavior of a WS I teamed with recently who was plowing along with the rest of the team, then suddenly said "Boss alert" and went AFK while we (somewhat puzzled) took out the remaining Lts and minions with no boss to be found.
