Hints about Sharkshead TF - Leviathan

Successfully completed the sharkhead TF yesterday after the third try.

The first thing to note is this TF has a lot of longbow missions. This means lots and lots of longbow wardens and other longbow bosses. The first two teams didn't get past the first mission due to the multitude of longbow.

Team members will fail and total team wipes do happen.

It is a pretty long TF. I got about 6 bars of XP at level 29 - took over 4 hours. We skipped through as many missions as possible, just killing the final boss, clicking blinkies and the like.

Some missions involve ambushs, lots of them, including where baddies teleport into the middle of the party which makes things interesting.

You have to fight a few AVs along the way, Barracuda, Coralax Priest and finally the Eye of the Leviathan.

Normal AVs are not too much of a problem, I just thought I would mention the Eye for people who face it.

The final room has the AV priest in it and lots and lots of Coralax. Now after all those longbow missions, the Coralax were a walkover so we cleared the room easily enough and then took out the priest.

Note it is best to concentrate all your firepower on him and ignore his pets because they die as soon as he is down.

The eye of the Leviathan spawns in the wall. It has this long range AOE attack than can decimate the group. We knew that there are some spots where the eye can't hit you (like just to the right of the eye near where a human's tear duct would be). So we got in position and were quickly wearing him down. What we didn't know is there is a trigger when he gets to low health and the entire room respawns and attacks. So we had a complete team wipe.

The problem now was we had to get back to the eye and he kept killing anyone who tried to go into the room to fight or pull the baddies back to a safe position.

The trick we found was to ignore the baddies and run directly to the left of the eye hugging the wall as much as possible. You can then walk around under him, snipe or taunt baddies to clear as much of the room near the eye, get back to the right of eye and then finish him off.

This is pretty difficult for masterminds to do as they don't have the same level of control so it is advisable for them to dismiss their henchmen and resummon them while under the eye.

Hope this helps - good luck.

I wish I had known this when I did this SF way back when. It was quite tough to kill the Eye, but the rest of the SF wasn't too hard (MM, Stalker, 2x Corr team).

Our attack on the Eye went as follows: Our Thermal Corr spammed heals, I had Group Fly on, and we attacked the Eye head on. After a few tries we succeeded with this tactic.

One thing I might've missed though, you said that around a certain point in the Eye's health everything respawns? I never encountered that, but I was pretty focused on the Eye.

Before we could even get to that AV though, we had to clear out the minions that we left in the room. I would make a T1 pet Goto the AV to get aggro, and one of the Corrs would pull. Took awhile, but it was a safe method of clearing most of the map.

Next time I do this SF I'll definately hide in his blind spot though.

Maybe they added it, because it wasn't mentioned in anything I read previously, but we had him down to something like 30% and was thinking "gosh this is easy", when suddenly we were all dead. The entire room was full again.

It was most discouraging. It took us maybe 15-30 minutes of slow pulling and dying at the door before we tried this tactic and found that it worked.

I wish the Devs could do something to make the final fights more varied. This sort of stuff isn't that exciting.

i did this SF a bit ago with my MM and a full team. We had a team wipe and we got back the room was filled with Coralax.
Luckily, everyone had the rocketpacks still or at least fly itself.
Except me. Everyone just floated in range of the Eye and let loose while I stood on the platform and resummoned the pets.
If you try to ignore the Coralax the Eye goes down pretty quick.
That's my hint, i guess. or experience. or whatever.

Just finished this SF last night. Team was:

Ninja Blade/? Stalker - 26
Energy/Energy Stalker - 30 (Auto Malfactored)
Fire/Fire Brute - 30 (Auto Malfactored)
Plant/Ice Dominator - 30 (Auto Malfactored)
Ice/Thermal Corruptor - 30 (Auto Malfactored)

This was an all VG team that teams together almost daily, we work VERY well together. Found the SF quite easy until the last mission. Everything in the missions was levels 31-32. Us all being "30" except the one Stalker we had minimal difficulties. Even the Barracuda AV mission posed no problem.

The last Coralax Cave mission was no problem until we hit the last room...

********SPOILER BELOW**********

...the last room is when it hit the fan.

We began our usual "clear the room before starting on the AV". However, when you enter the room, take special note of the pool of "water" that is in the center of the room. This water is not your ordinary water...it has lots of "water spouts" in it. These water spouts do some nasty "knock-about". Can't call it knock back or down because they toss you in a random direction. This was our downfall...we kept getting tossed all over the place. I (Corruptor) having no buffs and no status protection was the official pinball. So much so that I was "chain knocked" all the way accross the water and onto the AV. So, the AV was aggro'd before we even had the room 1/4 of the way cleared. AV summoned all of his pets on us. Both Stalkers dropped and we "tactically withdrew" back out to the entry to the cave. The AV/Pets did not follow. Regroup'd and I Lackeyed the low Stalker up to 29 (Yes, he was playing un-lackeyed the entire SF until now, so he was 25/26 facing 32s). We entered the room to try and clear again, but the AV aggro was still on us. We dropped him right away, resulting in the Summon of the Leviathan. While fighting the Leviathan, the remaining Coralax in the room that we didn't clear attacked us as well...we tried the "divide and conquer" method here, with the Dominator and one Stalker on the Coralax, and the Brute and other Stalker on the Leviathan while I stayed between the two tossing heals/buffs and some Blasts at the Leviathan. This resulted in two total team wipes. After regrouping in the entryway again, we decided to just ignore the Coralax and all pound the Leviathan. The Dominator did drop her Creeper Vines once to keep the Coralax that aggro'd on us busy, but other than that we all just ganged up on the Leviathan. This was successful. ( Even while I was hovering to the right side of the eye and healing, I would still get knocked down. )

My tip for this - be sure to keep clear of the Water in the last cave, and clear the Coralax out before aggroing the AV. If we had known about the "water-spouts" we would have escaped this entire SF with only 1 death.

Great final map, and good challenging AVs in this SF.

P.S. - We did not encounter a summon of Coralax in the last room, but that may just be because we didn't clear them in the first place.

Another spoiler:

There's a spot on the eye's upper lid where you can attack it without being hit. And the respawning coralax won't be able to touch you too. Using jingle jets our whole group was able to stay there safely as you can't just stand there but will slide down. Hover for teh win.

But one day I'll do the SF with another toon without using the blind spots...

For the 'water spouts' - I strongly encourage clearing the first part of the room, then working your way around to the upper ledge and start clearing there. A few shots down into the water will bring that side to you, and you can leave the Shaper sitting all by his lonesome easily without ever getting too close to the mini-cyclones.
