Call for Stories - Origin Pieces
Sent mine in, but wanted to share it here as well.
The Blind Master
MM/DA
It is said that the legendary Tsoo instructor Master Cho was in leagues with the Dark Spirits and that he had the power to call upon fallen warriors for aid. Those sorcerers that trained under Cho in his White Dragon sect had the keenest insight into the dark arts. Many feared Master Cho would one day seize control of the entire Tsoo order. The assassination order was called by Master Midnight of the Black Shadow sect. Cho killed dozens of Shadow warriors before being overcome by Ancient Spirits at Midnights command. Just as Midnight himself would deal the killing blow, a squad of heroes from Freedom Corp arrived on the scene. Midnight escaped, but not before cursing Cho to sightlessness. In prison Cho became known as the Blind Master and there were rumors of strange voices and dark mist emanating from his cell. When the great prison break occurred, the Blind Master vowed to hunt the Tsoo and exact his revenge.

Check out Open Office, works great for me since I send things off to people that prefer WP and Word (I have both, but find WP too outdated and Word too bloated). www.openoffice.org

I am SOOO tempted; my one-main Villain character starshadow has an IMO compelling - if unhappy - story. Unfortunately, there are two obstacles:
[*] I'm not that good at writing narrative prose;
[*] I seriously doubt I could keep the story to a PG rating. PG-13 maybe, but ... well, it's not a pleasant story, no matter how one might try to whitewash things.
Bummer. Ah, well ... c'est la vie!
Arctic, might I presume to suggest an alternate theme, for a future month ...?
Characters. No, seriously; instead of entire origin stories ... just the characters, and a briefer summary of who they are, how they came to be heroes or villains, and what their goals are.
That sort of thing could be very useful as a resource for folks looking to run games of Eden's paper-and-pencil incarnation of COH, after all. A Rogues Gallery of villains, as well as possible Hero NPCs. And who knows, maybe one or another of those characters might be chosen for an appearance in the comic itself (hey, I can DREAM, can't I? ).
...
On the element of rewards ... something minor, in-game, might be nice. What about a slightly-custom emote? Instead of reading a newspaper, the character who is the subject of a selected submission unlocks the ability to read, say ... an issue of the COH comic ...!!
Completely "window dressing", not game-balance-affecting (it's not even a badge or costume piece), but it'd still be neat ... and spark mild envy in folks like myself.
I'd come up with something for CapeMike's backstory, or how he got here...but that would require me to explain where he came from in the 1st place, which was a 7-YEAR long MUD/RPG/Add-your-own-chapter hybrid that ran mostly on a newsgroup...and we'd be here FOREVER with even a summary....
...nonetheless, I'll see what I can cook up....
For these origin pieces: can they be in first-person perspective, or are they restricted to third-person?

Please send stories in RTF (Rich Text Format), DOC (Word), or TXT format. RTF is preferred. ..
[/ QUOTE ]Hehe considering RTF is pretty freaking universal for all OS's...good choice imho
