arrows concept/theme help
Dunno if it helps you, but mine's a former mercenary of the Knives of Artemis who left due to amnesia.
Or how about a hunter who was lost in the woods for years?
Or a Greek warrior who was stuck ina cryogenic statis?
Or a native america with no mystic powers, just a cool bow an arrow?
Or a Japanese Schoolgirl who hangs out with a demon, a demon hunter, and a pervert?
I would go for a batman type hero. A guy who works with gadgets and has personal reasons for fighting crime.
Mine took up archery for a hobby and got good at it. When he went to the baker's to get some bread he left his bike outside and Statesman stole it. He now uses his archery skills to hunt down Statesman and get his bike back, arrowing everything in his way. Statesman seems to have vanished off the face of the earth though.
MEDJAY
In the New Kingdom (SG) the term 'Medjay' described a Policeman (Blue Shield badge a must) - the Medjay would patrol and guard the Paragon frontiers, protect cemeteries and maintained order throughout the City.
The word 'Medjay' originally dates back to the Old Kingdom, when the word is then used to describe a group of desert tribesmen (did you see any of the Mummy movies) in Nubia who are recruited into the Egyptian army as scouts and light-armed auxiliaries (Archers).
Nubian Archers
A Faerie (note spelling, this means dangerous immortal powerful being rather than butterfly winged sparkler) that, on a bet, has come to Paragon to become a superhero. Part of the rules of the bet limit his powers and his abilities to just using his skills at a bow and arrow. The trick arrow powers are magical effects that he imbues his arrows with, rather than technological modifications. Alternatively, he could be doing it out of amusement or because he came out on the wrong end of a deal with a mortal.
Try looking for something bizarre.
My archer is called The Full Draw. He used to be a professional poker player and earned the nickname Full Draw during a tournament when all he needed for a full house was the Ace of Spades but threw the hand down and asked for a full draw of cards and won the hand with a royal flush. In his spare time he shot the bow because it helped him focus. He could imagine that the target was the only thing that existed in the world and in the moment where he drew back the bow and fired it everything else ceased to exist. When a member of the family strong-armed him into a game of cards using his neice as a hostage he had no choice but to play, but lost the game when the mob boss cheated. He donned the costume and took the name The Full Draw to a whole new level.
Brother of Markus
The Lord of Fire and Pain
The Legendary Living Hellfire
Fight my brute!
I've got a ninja, now that my scrapper katana ninja has been nerfed to ineffectiveness.
I agree with LivingHellFire. Go bizarre, look for unique connections and don't be too literal with the bow, otherwise you'll end up with another dry Robinhood.
Like...
-A survivor of Dr. Vahzilok's experiments who's left with the grafted hand of a former archer. Your citizen discovers that the hand is possessed and has a 'shadow memory' of its former skill. Magic or Science? Who knows.
-A robot accidently 'educated' by Errol Flynn movies. Some gigantic, malfunctioning prototype that imagine's itself a swashbuckler and womanizer.
-A police officer from a dark, chivalric future where guns and such brought about a near apocalypse. He/she has come to the past to convince humanity to change its ways.
-A Catholic monk who blesses his arrows and uses them to drive out the legion of demons inhabiting the criminals of Paragon City. A little crazy, but his heart's in the right place.
Stuff like that
Other possibles (just off the top of my head):
- Australian abo channeling spirits of his clan. RP the bow/arrow as an enchanted boomerang. Include lots of tattoos as part of costume, along with dreads or an afro and a bushy beard.
- Foot soldier archer plucked from Asia circa Genghis Khan (either from his army, or the defending Chinese, or Russian tribesmen.) RP confusion over modern amenities and dress. RP outrage at the Tsoo's desecration of your traditions.
- Hunting buddy of Ted Nugent (avid bow hunter). Bored with taking down wild bears, showed up in Paragon cos here it's 'legal' (with registration as a hero) to 'hunt' criminals as long as you don't cause them... permanent... harm... (well at least the biological ones - Clockwork and Vahzilok can be killed outright, for example.)
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Ooh, concept thread.
Renowned archeologist discovers strange golden arrow in ancient Atlantean site. It pointed towards Paragon once released, and so, though having limited knowledge of the bow yet at the start, the character's started mincing the way through Paragon's criminals in hopes of getting the pull needed to, er, follow the arrow's pull to the Find of the Century.
i am having trouble coming up with ideas for a character concept for a trick arrows/arrows defender. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
So far I have definetly ruled out former olympic archer... heh
