Question on CoH lore for background history
A 'good' organization huh? The only scientific organization that I can think of off the top of my head would be Crey Biotech, and they're a villain group towards the L 30 game. I'm stumped on a truly good orgainization already in-game. Since you plan to roleplay, I strongly suggest you hop over to the game features and read up on the City's detailed past. While over there, take a look at the villain organizations for more details. Also, you're question is fine being in this board, as it is the roleplay section.
Quick tip: while there's roleplayers on all servers, Virtue is the unofficial RP server, with the highest concentration. Best of luck new hero!

Well with a slight stretch of imagination you could certainly use Portal Corp, Hero Corp, or Fredom Corp.
Beyond that I would suggest the places with the original contacts in Atlas and Galaxy; DATA, SERAPH, GIFT, etc. They could certainly be a source for experimenting with hero creation.
Finally the enhancement stores could be backed by a company that creates heroes. For science and tech there are Deimos Innovations, Cooke's Electronics, Exarch Industries, and Orion Labs.
Good luck!

Crey is evil. We've been inside their facility, so we can speak from experience, so if you wish to ally with a "good" organization, stay away from Countess Crey.
SERAPH and DATA would be likely candidates, depending on your hero's type. There are also smaller groups, mentioned in the comics and asides by the contacts. Try the Red Nines, the Five Points or Markers, if you want a rather obscure but mentioned group. The Nines and Points are mystical and the Markers are mech and tech.
Look to the tech SOs.
Portacio industries is make Nanobots, and you can probably do quite a lot with being a 'test subject'.
Also, Portacio is NOT mentioned in any mission, so it's a 'normal' company, if not a 'good' one.
I'm also claiming the a lead engineer on nanobot design as the mother to one of my characters, and I haven't had any conflicts with CoH canon yet.

On that note, Orion Labs, Deimos Innovations, and Exarch Industries are also research organizations. They make tech and science enhancements to aid super heroes, and it would be an easy assumption that they are therefore at least on our side, and that they do research to enhance the abilities of superheroes. Perhaps for one of them the ultimate experiment for their research would be creating one by enhancing an ordinary human through science and technology.
Another approach is that you were actually created which would suggest a biological research center of some sort like Biotechnix or Subgenetics. I would call a created super human to be a Science background, rather than true mutant background... even though their basically the same thing (altered human genetics = super powers).
Anyway, these are commercial science/tech laboritories, but they are working for the good guys, and could easily be used as an alternative. Just a couple pennies.
Vanguard is a hero organization that has billboards everywhere. But Crey is like Omni Consumer Products. Not good people.
I would go with Deimos Innovations. They are a good organization.
I think you've all forgotten one organization that obviously must use the greatest scientists in the world to produce the best product in the universe...

First off, I would like to apologize if this is the inappropriate forum to ask this question, as I am not sure if posts here are supposed to be strictly in character or not.
That being said, I was wondering if anyone could help with a minor background detail for a character I have in mind. I plan to make a character created by a scientist(s) and want to know if there are any organizations, facilities, or individuals in the games lore already, anywhere from people mentioned in quests to random billboards used as scenery in the game, that could possibly responsible for doing this. The only restriction I have is it needs to be a good organization, as their goals were admirable enough even if they were ethically bankrupt in their methods.
If anyone could provide me with a name of any such persons or organizations, I would be extremely grateful. And Ill apologize a second time for even asking this question, but I am completely new to the game, so I have no knowledge of its content yet.
Thank you for your time,
Laciel
