Building and Playing the Katana/Regen Scrapper
Thanks for the guide Amberyl. I wish a Katana/Regen guide would have been around for when I created my scrapper back in I1. Granted, a lot has changed since then, but it would have saved me a fair amount of painful learning. My scrapper is 36 right now (taking 6 months off puts quite a damper on the leveling curve), and I agree with a lot of what you say here, right down to sticking an endurance reducer into GD and SD. There are some things though that I do differently.
<ul type="square">[*]I am one of those that finds Reconstruction to be "lacking" once you have both Integration and FH. The times that I would use it, I simply pop a green pill to get by. It's easy enough to carry 3-4 of these at all times without taking too much space from the "useful" inspirations like yellows and purples. That, and Reconstruction requires you to put your sword away whenever you use it. Greens do not. [*]I prefer Swift over Health from the Fitness pool. Taking from your level 43 build, losing the +53% from Health would take you from 1826% health regen to 1773%... In other words, you'd barely notice it. But the boost to runspeed in missions is very noticible.[*]You mention that The Lotus Drops is useful when herding (and I agree), but it's a staple attack if you like to participate in 8-man groups. I know this is a solo guide, but I thought I'd mention that here. It's not necessary, but I feel it deserved another comment.[*]You seem to really dislike Weave. It's worth noting that Stealth costs nearly 2x the endurance of what Weave does, to provide less of a defense boost.[*]Yes, Resilience requires a lot of slots to be useful, but with that and Tough both 6-slotted, you're near 50% resist for smash/lethal damage. It also negates the disorient effect from Revive, should you choose to take that power. Again: not necessary, but worth mentioning.[*]Divine Avalanche can be handy for solo missions, but I find it unnecessary and it hampers my DPS too much for my liking. It would be useful against a herd of mobs, but the problem is it has to hit first before you can get the defense bonus. Hitting can be easily achieved with an endurance enhancement, but that doesn't change the fact that you're still going to be hit by the alpha-strike before that +20% kicks in. I ran with DA for quite awhile before respeccing out of it at 35.[/list]
Now, I don't want my disagreements to sound like disapproval, as I find this to be a very good guide. These are just my opinions on why I have a different playstyle. Overall though, I am very much in agreement with the majority of what's written here. Good stuff...
EDIT: Fixed the math on my regen rates... I think.
This guide is first rate. Thanks.
Any re-evaluations in the works for I5?

Great guide
I have been away for a while, any views how it has changed with I5 and some of the other new stuff.
Heya,
I've started this build in I5 and havn't had any problems with it. Even EBs go down rather easily with Hasten and Build Up (though AVs are still way too hard without a healer or tank).
I'm a bit torn up on whether to go with the "Stealth" build or the "Fighting" build, and was wondering whether some experienced players could offer their opinions here.
Also, if anyone could post their final build using either route, that would be great.
Thanks in advance.
How bout an updated guide? Since I5/I6 and ED have come out, alot of this guide is way out of date.
I am not sure that Amberyl is around any more, but for a more current look at Regen try EvilGekos I6 BSword Regen guide, link can be found in the Scrapper guides and faqs thread.
Nothing much has changed for the Katana side. Power selection is pretty much teh same, just remember not to slot more than 3 of any type of SO enh in any power and you will do fine.
regards, Screwloose.
