The Transcendent Guardians (Protector) present The Saga of Lanaru Complete Write-up/Walkthrough.

Contact: Faathim The Kind (The Chantry) /loc -26.0, -1994.6, 7.8
Level Range: 44-50
Minimum Teammates: 8
Villain Groups: Soldiers of Rularuu, Nemesis, Rikti, Malta, Circle of Thorns
Completion time: 6-9 hrs
Useful teammates to have: First and foremost, you will need 4 people that can, for sure, stick around until the second last mission (You will see why later). Because the majority of these missions are in ‘The Chantry’, someone with fly and recall friend or even Teleport and recall friend is very useful. There are several Arch-Villain battles in this TF: Malaise, Mother Mayhem, Nemesis, Baphomet and Lanaru the Mad so keep that in mind when forming a team.

Mission 1: (Door) Defeat all Rularuu in First cave
Location: The Chantry

-AMBUSH-

Mission 2: (Door) Defeat all Rularuu in Second cave
Location: The Chantry

-AMBUSH-

Mission 3: (Door) Defeat all Rularuu in Third cave
4 unknown captives to rescue
Location: The Chantry
Note:It is suggested for the first 3 mission that your team pulls around the corner because the mobs are fairly big, sometimes even close to each other and they pack quite a punch. Each mob consists of 1 or 2 wisp and wisp bosses, overseers, watchers and a few brute and nattlings too. Wisps do psionic damage, a few of the stuff have holds so it can get really ugly. Early on, we learned that the hard way.

Mission 4: (Door) Defeat Malaise and Activate Key
4 keys to activate simultaneously
Location: The Chantry
Note: This is where people with stealth/invis/phase comes in handy, 4 people, each find a key, which is a spherical glowie. After all 4 are clicked at once, everyone heads to Malaise and all the other mobs in the mission can be ignored! (The mobs in here are Nemesis) If you haven’t fought Malaise before, his holds last quite a while so try to keep him held or send decoys/pets at him..In our case, I think our tank’s Unstoppable kept Malaise busy.

Mission 5: (Door) Defeat Mother Mayhem and Activate Key
4 keys to activate simultaneously
Location: The Chantry
Note: Same idea as the previous mission, the mobs in here were nemesis as well. Mother Mayhem can be beat the same way as Malaise, but she was in the middle of 2 warhulks and a fake nemesis though. Just try to get the upperhand on her before she starts dishing out the psionics.

Mission 6: (Door) Defeat Nemesis Army and Activate Key
4 keys to activate simultaneously
Location: The Chantry
Note: Ok, sadly this one is a defeat all but deceiving the Fake nemesis and making them kill everything else is priceless.

Mission 7: (Door) Defeat Nemesis and Activate Key
4 keys to activate simultaneously
Location: The Chantry
Note: Here we fight the Arch-Villain Nemesis? himself. All Nemesis really has his his staff and his force fields, it shouldn’t be too tough. Same idea with activating the 4 keys but after Nemesis’ defeat the mission was still not complete so we had to clear the map. Surprisngly, some Rikti were in this mission too but soon we find out it will lead onto the next mission...

Mission 8: (Door) Find the Key of Destruction
Location: The Chantry
Note: Another cave within chantry, and like I mentioned above, the rikti would lead into this one. The key of destruction is a glowie somewhere deep inside the cave and i think you only have to clear the final room. (the one with the glowie). The Knives of Artemis make a special appearance in the cave here and that can only mean one thing... the Malta cannot be far!

Mission 9: (Door) Find Key of Anger
Location: Founder's Falls
Note: After making the journey to Founder's falls, we find our speculation is true and the mobs here are indeed Malta. This mission was in the "lab" map with 4 floors. The glowie was on the top floor but mission didn’t end even after we cleared the top floor. So we had to backtrack and defeat all the Malta, and some Knives too. (FUN!)

Mission 10: (Errand) Talk to Azuria
Location: Atlas Park
Note:Any one person can do it so the fastest one goes!

Mission 11: (Door) Find Key of Pain
Location: Founder's Falls
Note:After talking to a MAGI representative, you should have probably guessed by now you will be fighting Circle of Thorns. The good news is that this glowie mission IS REALLY JUST A GLOWIE MISSION! So have your stealth/invis/phase person go find the glowie and complete this mission!

-AMBUSH-

Mission 12: (Errand) Talk to Azuria
Location: Atlas Park
Note:Like last time, anyone can do it.

Mission 13: (Door) Defeat Baphomet and activate key
4 keys to activate simultaneously
Location: Train (Cemetary)
Note: Well good news for the people that havent got their demon slayer badge because here's your chance! Aside from that, all 4 of the keys were clustered in one area and once that was done, take out Baphomet. A series of Holds including a crey pistol shot kept baphomet from doing much against us.

Missions 14-16: (Patrol) Unlock the storm palace
Location: Storm Palace
Note: These 3 are similar to patrol missions where one person goes to the marked location and uses each of the 3 keys: Destruction, Anger, and Pain, to unlock the Storm Palace.

Missions 17: (Door) Defeat Lanaru The Mad
Location: Storm Palace
Note: This is it, the final mission. The big showdown against the Arch-Villain, Lanaru the Mad. All mobs outside of the mission and surrounding it (it’s spherical) were lvl 52 so becareful entering this mission. Upon entering, you will see a pretty impressive room, and of course, Lanaru in the middle. The room was spherical with 2 "rings" of enemies. the “outer ring” was full of Elementals (Those storm clouds). We took care of those first. Directly below Lanaru, or the “inner ring”, consisted of a few Brutes, a Wisp, and 2 overseers. Once again, deceive came in handy and allowed us to clear them out easily without Lanaru aggro’d. Lanaru did mainly storm summoning, lightning attacks and he was able to summon a few more elementals. Lanaru had about 29k Hit points but it wasn’t a task our heroes could not handle after what we had all previously endured.

Ending : After a bright flash and some ground shake animation, the mission was complete. Head back to Faathim and take a group photo or something!

Reward : The Saga of Lanaru Souvenir, and a lvl 53 SO enhancement. Unfortunately, there is no badge (27 March 2005)

Our Task Force:
(50) Devil Sun Fire/Fire Blaster
(50) Brimstone Gale Fire/Storm Controller
(50) XRaidenX Electric/Electric Blaster
(50) Knokjawz Invulnerable/Super Strength Tank
(50) Holy mage Empathy/Psychic Defender
(47) Sword of Quell Empathy/Dark Defender
(47) Demon Soldier Energy/Energy Blaster
(50) blzneh Illusion/Radiation Controller

Final Word:
This could be considered "the last" TF of the game, seeing it is the 4th Shadow Shard TF and probably is the longest and toughest one of all. We kept 8 members throughout most of it but finished the last few with 7. I wont rant on how we should get a badge but I will say that these gods need to get caught up with technology...At no point in this TF you are able to call Faathim. Why? Because he doesn't have a phone i guess. This is a great TF to do as a Supergroup get together. Good luck and have fun.

Images:
Lanaru The Mad

That’s why he is “The Mad”

He's choking! Someone do the Heimlich Maneuver

Mission Complete

Group Photo (clear)

Proof of victory

Thanks a lot for writing this guide. My SG has been looking for something to do as kind of a get together, and this would be perfect for theihigh lvls. Shame about no badge though

Just came from finishing the task force as well. We had a couple things slightly different, just for everyone's info..

There was another mission b/t 8 and 9 the same as 8.

Missions 4-8b were all in the storm palace.

And we didn't have to see the contact b/t missions 12 and 13.

Other than that, thanks for the great write up, it helped us out tremendously.
