I didn't see anything about Freedom Corps in the game's backstory on the site.
However, in the JIVE interview, Statesman (as in, the character Statesman and not Jack Emmert, as far as I can tell) mentioned that he founded Freedom Corps as a sort of counterbalance to Hero Corps. (Third question from bottom.)
Other than that, I suppose it's all speculation.

My understanding was that Freedom Corps was more Ms. Liberty's baby than anything else, right? Maybe Statesman founded it, and Ms. Liberty has just dedicated herself to seeing the organization prosper?
Heh, it was actually that Statesman interview that made me think to ask the question.
The Ms. Liberty connection... SOUNDS right, but I can't think of why that should be the case.
Is there something somewhere that indicates that the trainers are members of Freedom Corp as well as whatever other supergroup they may be active in?
I reread the history of Paragon City on the website this evening, and I realized that I have no idea who or what Freedom Corps is. It's not Statesman's Freedom Phalanx, and it's not the for-profit Hero Corps. So who are these people, and why are they selling training for heroes?
Is this explained anywhere in the game's backstory?
