Badge Progress

I like the whole event, for the most part. But what I can't figure out is why the halloween badges are listed first in your list there. The badges otherwise seemed to be listed most general to most specific before and I would imagine that these are hyperspecific, being restricted to baddies that are seldom around. Instead I'm going to have to scroll past them every time to get to something else. What's up with that? (Maybe their position on the list will change after the event. Search me.)

Actually, this kind of bothers me too...not now, but a few months from now, whenever I look at someone's badge list, the novelty badges will be first...and by then the novelty will have worn off.

Through my years of extensive MMORPG playing I would have to disagree. Within 6 months these will be very rare badges to see a player have. By then people quit, make new alts, or are just new players. They will be quite rare.

Then are we to assume that this event will not repeat next year?
I personally wouldn't mind a bar sticking around, would be less work I would have to do the following year if the same event was held.

If it does it may be a whole new set of badges. This may be the only time ever to get these 6 badges.
The coven idea is good put them in the hollows and Dark Astoria.
And use all the beasties as thie minions. The event
can occur again as well just becuse you can find the coven in
other area, dosent mean your heroes cant go trick or treating
They could also expand it next year by creating a haunted
house mission given out by the city repersenative.

It's a dark and story night. That means something bad is happening out there

Youre kidding right?
You have to scroll past 6 badges??? OH THE HUMANITY!!!!
Maybe we should send someone over to your home, to hook up a catheder, install a fridge right next to your chair, and hire someone to do all your grocery shopping for you, so that you will never have a reason to leave the position you are in right now. Once a month we'll make sure someone comes over and hoses you down, too, so that the stench doesnt buildup too bad.

Goodness! It's certainly not that scrolling will kill me or anything. I just don't like their position for two reasons:
1) I often over-analyze things. The order of the badges doesn't make sense.
2) Those badges have nothing to do with anything. There is no point in looking at them all the time. It's like never taking down your halloween decorations.
Certainly if it's a choice between changing this around or fixing something else or designing new content, by all means leave this as it is. I realize that I could always not get them (though I can't un-get the ones I have) so I share part of the responsibility. But if, on the other hand, it's a relatively easy thing to re-order them and the Devs agree with me, then I would like to see them do it. What's the harm in that?
I also think they should move these Halloween badges to the end of the list. At worst they should be interspersed with the other "kill" badges, which are listed alphabetically. At best they should just be placed at the end of the list, and all other special badges can be placed down there with them. It's not my fault that I'm a little OCD.
It looks like the badge requirements changed overnight, at least on Test. It's now only 5 Werewolves, Vampires or Spirits, 20 Witches, or 35 Zombies to get their respective badges.
SMASH!!! is all.
SMASH!!! is divine.
SMASH!!! is control.
SMASH!!! whips and chains our soul.

There aren't status bars for the Halloween badges. I would imagine that this is because you would be stuck with them if you don't finish before the event is over.

IMHO, this is poor implementation. We already know that there is code somewhere to filter out any badges that have zero progress, even if they're set up to have a status bar. Why can't that same code be modified to check a flag that is set only if the badge should be displayed? Then all Cryptic has to do is set that flag to false when the Halloween event is over. Same for Isolator, just set the flag to false as soon as you exit Outbreak.

I'd think they have more pressing matters to take care of instead of cosmetics that have no impact on overall gameplay.
I had a blast with the Halloween event and regardless of where the badges show up in the lists (although I do agree that maybe a Events tab for these special events may help, but is unnecessary) I sincerely enjoyed stomping out the minions of the night that assaulted the city during this past weekend
Although you could run a database sweep after to clean them up giving us a better badge experience.
The only thing that worries me about the position is, are these temporary badges? Gee, I hope not.
I agree, keep the coven! The streng are clearly halloweenish, but the coven can fit into City of Heroes in any season.
(And I've also heard many requests from my female teammates asking for those hats)
