Hey All,
So its time to release new Guest Author Story Arc Missions and we want to play them with YOU! Dr. Aeon along with members of the Community Team will be jumping in game to try out the new content and thought it would be fun to invite you along. This batch of Guest Authors has been an absolute blast to work with (even Hickman), and were really looking forward to playing their work first hand. But because entertainment is best shared with friends, were taking you along for the ride!
So on with the details!
This round of Guest Author Missions were written by Mercedes Lackey (arc id: 369275), Troy Hickman (arc id:369271), and Austin Grossman (arc id:369272).
On Tuesday January 26th at 7pm Pacific (10pm EST) Dr. Aeon will be visiting his old stomping grounds on Virtue to give one of the Guest Author Arcs a play through. Meanwhile, at the same time the lovely Avatea will be doing the same and chumming it up on the Justice server.
Well keep the teaming goodness going on Wednesday the 27th, with Avatea leading the pack at 10am Pacific (8pm British, 9pm Central European) on the Union server. Then, at 5pm (8pm EST) Niviene will jump on Infinity for some fun in the evening. Dr. Aeon will return at 7pm (10pm EST) but this time on Freedom.
Finally on Thursday the 28th Ill be logging on to the Champion server at 6pm Pacific (9pm EST) for good times, bacon, and possibly a quote pyramid or two. Dr. Aeon will make his final appearance this round with a trip to Liberty at 7pm (10pm EST).
Got all that? I didnt think so. Heres all the info listed out more clearly for you:
Tuesday, January 26th
7pm Pacific Virtue Dr. Aeon
7pm Pacific Justice Avatea
Wednesday, January 27th
10am Pacific Union Avatea
5pm Pacific Infinitiy Niviene
7pm Pacific Freedom Dr. Aeon
Thursday, January 28th
6pm Pacific Champion The Ocho
7pm Pacific Liberty Dr. Aeon
So if you get the urge, come join us in game! Well do our best to get you on one of our teams (well be accepting appropriately leveled characters on a first come first serve basis). Even if we cant, however, dont forget to experience these Guest Author Missions on your own. I promise they are a blast!
Thanks, -
It's time for another round of guest author missions to be released, and we've got some great ones for you to choose from! In order to check out these arcs simply log into the game, find the nearest Architect Entertainment Building, and open up the mission browser.
Mercedes Lackey –
“Mystery on the Boardwalk” (arc id:369275) - Unbelievable Man is stuck on the phone with his needy girlfriend, so the Heroic ATemps Temp Agency has sent you over to handle this. It's only a little haunting, how hard can it be?
Troy Hickman –
“A Little Night Music” (arc id:369271) - Citadel needs your assistance. The Fifth Column have resurrected the dreaded WWII villain Nachtmusik, and he in turn has kidnapped Jimmy Preston. Citadel needs you to enter the dreamworld and save his young friend...and hopefully the world. You say you're not afraid? You will be...
Austin Grossman –
“Return of the Crime Cabal” (arc id:369272) - A routine distress call leads you into the conspiracy between three oddly mismatched villains - a dark wizard, a technologically enhanced agent, and a brilliant scientist. They seek to mingle the forces of magic and science to gain control of an ancient god from deep beneath the Earth's crust. But to oppose the Cabal it is necessary to understand its story, the forces that gave three very different people their superpowers and turned them to evil. The things that brought them together, and the things tearing them apart. -

Our second winner comes from the January 22nd edition of the contest.
Congrats Korith on your winning entry!
Ocho to Positron, I've been investigating this 'cage' consortium for two weeks now, but can't find any evidence of a conspiracy. ... Wait, what do you mean I should be in Sharkhead? -
Quote:Wow, I know I've been spending way too much time on the forums when I can actually understand Jay's stream of consciousness posts.Oh God, how can I say this without turning up as an unrecognizable charred corpse along some dusty highway ditch wearing a diaper full of Texas sized fire ants with my eyes replaced with screwdrivers?
Remember way back in the day when this thread got started and everyone was like WOW those are great resistance costume pieces, I cant wait to wear them, splat, splat, splat, and Oh super keen, first I changed my desktop to a lolz cat and now my crippling depression doesnt seem so bad anymore, because I have a reason to live again, I get to wear glowing stuff. Well, get out a mop and find something sharp. That picture is of a NPC, not a new costume set.
Me so sorry about that there wasnt a clearer explanation of what was going on in the screenshot, I really am. But when you get down it and think about this rationally, this is really your fault, you jumped to a conclusion. You know I told you a thousand times not to do that, but I guess I need to teach you another lesson in the silence of the basement, next to the treadmill you dont use anymore. Looks like you and I wont be going over to your mothers for dinner like you planned. Canceled! The writing is on the wall baby, you are going to just have to tell the neighbors how clumsy you are, and just deal with it. Let the guilt of your wrong doings lead you on a path to righteousness. Youre welcome.
See how I turned that around, take a note kids.
Yes, it would have been sweet, but it does seem that the glowing Tron-esque armor is NPC specific. There could be a dozen reasons why it might not work as costume pieces these things are always way more complicated on the back-end than you might think.
That being said, your overwhelming response to the armor did not go unnoticed by the Devs, so they are definitely aware that if there is ever an opportunity to bring you costume pieces of this nature, you want them! I wouldnt be surprised if the wheels in their heads are already turning. Im not saying that anything will end up coming out of it, but our Devs tend to be pretty good at fleshing out all the possibilities.
And by the way Jay, we don't have a basement. -

From the January 15th edition of the Creative Caption Craziness Contest.
Congratulations to CoH player Pheonyx for his excellent entry!
Several protesters shut down the chalet speed run today, claiming that DJ Zero utilizes illegal immigrants dressed as "ski bunnies". One protester's sign stated, "Lapine-Americans need work, too." -
One of the fun things about the Creative Caption Craziness Contest is that very quickly we accumulate a number of winning entries that exhibit some of the cleverest wit and creativity that CoH players have to offer. It would be a shame to waste such good material, so in an effort to provide you an entertaining read and allow all the winning entries to be found easily in one fell swoop; I have created this winning compilation thread that Ill add to each week! Enjoy!

Ashes to ashes,

Thanks everyone for the amazing entries, it was a hard choice. There were several close contenders, but that's why there is next week!

Quote:We wanted to give out something nice for Christmas. I know this is a crazy idea, but we kinda like you guys. The server transfer service is unavailable. Now it is, and it's free? So, this just makes me go "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what are the blighters up to?"
We had to take the character transfer service down in order to make the change to make it free, it's not as simple as setting the price to zero. Also we have to test these things of course to make sure that the changes aren't going to do anything bad. -
Quote:Is it a straight port from the table top game? If so, my skaven team may need to be reborn.Been too busy playing Blood Bowl to hatch any plots. I was actually planning to spend the weekend playing CoH, ran the tutorial and a few single player one off missions to get used to the interface, then spent the entire weekend doing league setting.
Announcer: And there's a great pass from Rat Marino to Jerry Mice, who will make the dodge and bring the ball home!
