  1. Just for fun, I wrote up a little music piece for my arc.

It's sort of a soundtrack-y score kinda piece, so I realize it won't be to everyone's taste. Still, I hope people will check it out anyway, just for kicks.

Thanks for you review! I thought I'd point out real quick that the Arc ID is [u]4384[u], not 4634. At least, according to my notes....

My understanding (and I could be wrong) is that Boss spawn points in outdoor maps are uncontrollable because outdoor maps don't have a Front-Middle-Back arrangement. But it would be nice to keep Josephine in a single location.

It would also be a handy way to keep track of the optional Allies in the final mission. On any given test run, I can only ever find two of them, but there are three lurking around.

I completely forgot to have Mynx mention the timed mish, and I understand how frustrating that can be. I'll certainly change it next time I pass through the MA.

Thank you for your time. When it comes to my arcs, I can be slightly neurotic about fine-tuning and details, so it's extremely handy to have someone else catch my mistakes for a change.

And the positive feedback doesn't hurt, either.

Sounds like there was a question of "Do I really have no other options?"

And even with the medical teleporters, some characters would be completely unwilling to lay the smackdown on Paragon's finest. Or on anyone else, for that matter. There are non-violent heroes out there.
  4. There are so many clever ways to use a shapeshifting villain. Espionage, betrayal, conspiracy... all sorts of shady shifty activities for a man with more than one face.

I kinda feel like I missed an opportunity.

    Jumping on the new bandwagon:

Arc Name: Dr. Dave and the Copper Legion
    Arc ID: 60280
    Morality: Heroic
    Creator: @theHedoren
Length: Very Long (according to MA)
Level Ranges: All levels cap at 54; min. levels are 35-5-1-1-41.
Difficulty: Medium- final mission contains 1 AV, but with two Allies; many collections, some captives to rescue, an escort mission
Synopsis: When an ancient weapon is unearthed by forces unknown, do you have what it takes to save Paragon City from destruction?

    Arc Name: The Double-Edged Sword
    Arc ID: 4384
    Morality: Heroic
    Creator: @theHedoren
    Length: Long
Level Ranges: three missions 30-54, two missions 40-54
Difficulty Level: Medium- final mission contains 1 AV, but with optional Allies; some collection, several Ally/Captive rescue, a Boss and an AV
Synopsis: At first it seemed like business as usual for Crey Industries. But when a shady experiment spirals out of control, it's up to you to stop the growing threat.
  6. First off, I'm thrilled you liked my arc. I'm just gonna chalk this up as a rave review, try and stop me.

Now that I think about it, I completely agree about the 5th mission's map. It does seem a bit cramped, and not at all the sort of "mystical command center" it ought to be. I will be bumping the size up soon.

And I'm assuming there are some bugs involved. Pyralis is listed in the SAC group (with Heather and Dr. Diaz), and Glass Dragon is supposed to be a regular Boss (who only survived half of my test runs). Maybe I'm just overlooking a setting somewhere....

I'm also glad you found the AV appropriate. IMO, Moment doesn't get the face time he deserves. And I figured I could easily swap out the AV model if Scirocco was a bad fit.

All that said, it seems my relentless testing and tweaking is paying off! Thanks again!

After following this thread, I just can't watch The Incredibles the same way again.

"I seem to recall you prefer to... 'work alone'? Um, yeah."
  8. On the off-chance that my arc (#60280) made it onto your list, I thought I'd mention something real quick. There is now only one "defeat all" objective remaining. I managed to axe the other in a way that I can be satisfied with.

I still feel it's justified/acceptable to keep the first one.

    <_<

That is all. We return you to your regularly-scheduled broadcast.

I just came back from a heavily-political arc, and there was nothing subtle about it at all (a nigh-invincible GWB and an army of Sarah Palins were way too much for me to handle).

Should I assume this qualifies as "Inappropriate Content"?

Personally, I could use a little straight talk. The little feedback I've gotten (almost all positive) has made me too complacent about the mistakes I've missed.

Venture's reviews are kinda like celebrity roasts: all one's flaws and missteps are pointed out for people's entertainment, and the best one can do is smile, say 'thank you', and make a little mental Post-it for later (for self-improvement or revenge, I couldn't say).

Of course, I haven't been reviewed by Venture, so I can't promise I'd be as calm and objective as I am now....
  12. Also, I could use suggestions about the final AV. It isn't too hard to change the AV model and stick to the plot, so I'm wondering who players would most prefer to smite with righteous fury.
  13. I'm glad you liked it! This arc in particular has undergone a lot of revision, mostly thanks to the many reviews of other people's arcs I've read. I'd like to think I was gauging players' tolerance for things (without showing my own cards, of course).

I see Mission 4 as a problem. The story, in my mind, seems to demand for a kill-all. But from a player's perspective, I know how tedious it is. I'm torn, and no amount of brain-wracking has helped. So I'm leaving it as-is until I can think of some workaround to stick in the text.

And I was worried that would happen, in Mission 5. I'll probably scale one of the Allies down again (they used to both be AVs), to make it a challenge. Also, I'm open to suggestions as to which AV model I should use (since he can easily be swapped out for anything else).

Above all, thanks for taking the time to review!
  14. My real beef with Bluehawk was in Act III, when her Targeting Drone made her latch onto Rikti mobs from an uncomfortably long distance. I had a few "When did Lady Jane get here?" moments with her as an Ally, but as an enemy she worked just fine. I imagine the MA would help with this, anyhow.
  15. I could use some feedback on my latest arc.

Arc Name: Dr. Dave and the Copper Legion
    Arc ID: 60280
    Author: @theHedoren
    Length: Very Long
Level Range: highest minimum level is 41, and all missions cap at 54
Difficulty: Medium- Final mission contains 1 AV, but with Allies; many collections, some captives to rescue, an escort mission
Synopsis: An expedition to Cimerora uncovers and ancient weapon which -- in the wrong hand -- could destroy all of Paragon City. Plenty of mystery, some danger, and an obscure CoH villain.

A little side-note: I did include two Defeat Alls, but one of them is on a very tiny map (Midnighter Club), and most mobs will be defeated during the other objectives anyway. The second one is a medium-sized map, but it's a simple layout (and the plot seemed to demand a kill-all for that mish). I could also use some suggestions on the final AV. He can be easily replaced, and I wonder if I should put someone else in instead.
  16. Ah, I gotcha; I never rule out the possibility that I skipped over something accidentally. And in any case, I still had a blast.

If it hasn't been queued yet, I'd like to plug "Dr. Dave and the Copper Legion" again. (#60280)
  18. First off, it's so hard to do a Malta arc right. Like Nemesis, there are so many layers of deception and intrigue that anything short just falls flat.

That said, I really enjoyed your story. The whole "impossible redemption" angle was pulled off well, and the gradual unfolding of events gave it a nice pace. There were occasions when I felt like the narrative was larger than me, and I was just observing events, but they didn't last long. The amount and variety of detail in your clues was a plus, also.

One of the better things I noticed were the characters. They were... well... in character. Rikti-speak, Crimson's personality, even the Malta mech dialogue. Everything sounded like it ought to.

There were, however, times when things seemed to go over my head. I'd finish a mission and talk to Crimson, and he said something that seemed like an obscure tangent until I went and read through the clues. Maybe having him do a quick paraphrase here and there would clear this up, or maybe it's just me.

Also, I understand there are certain flaws with giving custom characters "Devices". Bluehawk as an enemy was slightly irritating, but manageable. Bluehawk as an ally, however... I'm assuming she's set on Aggressive, and her enormous Perception range didn't really fit with my style (especially with the Rikti Comm. Officers).

Some of the mission maps were larger than I’d prefer. Especially the missions with “rescue captives” objectives. This was just a minor quibble, I guess. I’ll file that under my Personal Preferences.

Lastly, I was unclear on the reason for the Rikti's presence. I mean, I get how they were appearing, but the why was a bit more obscure. By the end, I wasn’t sure if they were here by coincidence, or if they were deliberately plotting with Malta. Either I missed some dialogue somewhere (from characters or from clues), or I should chalk it up to unknowable events. The Malta Group is mysterious, after all.

In closing, a good effort with some really great writing and a solid plot line. Just some general roughness at the edges, but an enjoyable story nonetheless.

    Cheers, and write on!

The only reason I post two is 'cause I can't decide which one I'm more invested in. Any reviews at all would be helpful.

*edit- After some thought, I'd like to know what people think of the newer one, 60280.
  21. I want to recommend two of my arcs, because I really can't decide which one I'm more invested in. A review for either one would be greatly appreciated.

    Arc Name: The Double-Edged Sword
    Arc ID: 4384
    Length: Long
Difficulty: Medium- Final mission contains 1 AV, but with optional Allies; a few collections, several rescues (Captives and Allies)
Synopsis: Crey's latest experiments unleash a powerful force on Paragon City. I won't say much more, but there's at least one plot twist.

Arc Name: Dr. Dave and the Copper Legion
    Arc ID: 60280
    Length: Very Long
Difficulty: Medium- Final mission contains 1 AV, but with two Allies; many collections, some captives to rescue, an escort mission

And seriously, a review for either arc would be great.

*edit- But after some thought, maybe I'll push more towards #60280. It's the newer one, and I don't have much feedback on it yet.
  22. BABs just posted regarding a costume change slash command.

There are a couple of important notes. One, the costume slot numbers start with 0. So your first costume slot is 0, your 2nd is 1, 3rd is 2, etc. Two, you need to use the actual emote name, not the display name that you see in the costume select screen's rollout. For the magic pack, these are:

    * CCPrestoChango - “Presto Chango”
    * CCLightning - “Lightning”
    * CCSpin - “Spin”
    * CCCast - “Cast”

    Example:
    /cc_e 1 cclightning

Difficulty Level: Medium- final mission contains 1 AV, but with two Allies

  24. That's the problem with words; there are so many of them to choose from....

Thanks for the feedback! I agree about the finale intro. Ideally, there should be another mission in there, something to show the damage increasing. But the limit is five, and I'm unwilling to drop any of the others. Maybe I'll re-write the intro later.

    Thanks again!

(And there are three CoH signature heroes hiding somewhere in the final mission. I didn't know if the AV would be too hard, so I added a safety net.)
