I once again vote against it. Costume diversity for the win.

Then they better be consistant about it.

Right now you can make "evil" guys in COH and "heroes" in COV. If they wanna try and push a load like diversity then they're already failing at it.

    I agree, I was somewhat disappointed to see a majority of the CoH pieces carried over. I want to try to tkeep the 2 games somewhat separated for at least a little while. The game is not even out yet and I have seen people request;

    CoV costume pieces in CoH
    CoV missions/newspapers in CoH
    Heroes and villains switching sides
    CoV powersets in CoH
Villains and heroes teaming together (one of my least fav requests. Let's fight each other bit first before we team. No heroes/villains teamed with one another until they fought first.)

I think we need to let CoV revel in it's uniqueness for a bit first. I'm buying the game and want to enjoy it for the new game it is. to get my money out of it. There is no point in buying it, if everyone got their way and all CoV content was added to CoH. Eventually I see that happening, but for now let's enjoy CoV as it is and CoH as it is.

    The Zodiac

Having carried out a strike against the Heroes of Paragon already to determine their skills and powers, Taurus, the leader of a band of villains he calls the Zodiac has gone into hiding to analyze and determine his next move. The band that he keeps on a short leash under his control, all who are named for one of the other 11 Western signs of the Zodiac, awaits his orders.

What will Taurus and the Zodiac unleash from within the Rogue Isles? The Januray Gemini Park attack was merely a test, nothing more than a data grabbing excerise, those injured were just icing on the cake.

Synopsis: A rotating group of 12-13 people (We can have 2 Geminis if need be), all named as one of the Western Zodiac signs, are lead by the Minotaur of legend, Taurus, who seems to be hell bent on world domination. Those who he commands have any type of background, skill, and abilities.

    Leader: -Taurus
    CoH Global: @Blue Volt

There was also a Zodiac SG in CoH that I almost joined and the leader of that and I talked about starting one ourselves in CoV. I have no idea if you were affiliated with the CoH version or not.

And I'm also currently toying around with starting a SG in CoV called The Ministry. I'm still working out the exact details.

    Take Them In

((This is a tale I wrote for the CoH fanfic submission. But I think it may be a little dark for them, so I'm posting it online as well. This is kind of the origin story for my alt Texas-Holdem. Enjoy.))

The snow falls gently and my breath chills as it escapes the pores of my mask. I adjust my position slightly, high atop my rooftop perch, feeling the butt of the rifle dig a little more firmly into my shoulder.

Why am I here? I think the gun makes that obvious. I'm not here to bird watch. To hide my identity, I've taken a masked costume and the name, Texas-Holdem. What I plan isn't exactly legal. Trust me, I know.

I lower the rifle to double-check that I've got the right ammo in it. I do. A "digger" bullet. When it enters a person, it opens like a flower rooting itself inside them. A mediport means nothing when the bullet won't leave your brain.

I bring the rifle back up as I see my target race into view. I steady the rifle and peer though the scope as I see Synapse's head become centered in the red cross-hairs. My finger wraps around the trigger as I think back to the events that lead me to this moment.

It all started three years ago on April 28, 2002. The date is burned in my memory like a brand in flesh. Back then I was known as Osirah Dalton, Texas Ranger. I was one of the top rangers to ever make my way through the ranks, receiving numerous accolades in hand-to-hand combat, urban combat strategy, and weapon proficiency. I was a hero. It was these honors that lead to my being invited to Paragon City to train a special task force in the PDP.

My wife, Sera, and I thought it would be a good vacation for the family, a trip to the City of Heroes as it was dubbed. We had two little girls, 5yo twins named Kelsie and Chelsie, who were thrilled by the prospect of meeting Statesman. It seemed like a perfect vacation for a perfect life. I should have known that nothing perfect can ever last.

I was in the middle of explaining the tactical advantages of portable auto-turrets to a group of officers when I was taken aside and given the news. The detective patted my arm, sympathetically, as he explained to me that my family had been attacked while out sightseeing. My mind was numb as they rushed me to the hospital.

By the time I got there, it was too late. My little girls were gone. They hadn't even made it to the hospital. Sera was in critical condition and already in surgery. She passed away on the operating table 13 minutes later. I was devastated, my life in shambles. How had this happened to my beautiful family in the City of Heroes?

The answer was revealed two days later as the local PD caught the guilty parties. Turns out it was some punk in the Skulls gang named Marrowsnap and a few of his pals. During the interrogation they admitted trying to rob my family in an alley so they could buy more superdine. They were under the influence of it when they paniced at the sound of a distant siren and decided to not leave any witnesses. I finally had my closure or so I had thought.

While he was being questioned, Marrowsnap let it be known that he and his group had actually been apprehended earlier that day by a group of heroes for trying to break into a car. The heroes were ready to take the Skulls to jail when they got a com call that some giant robot monster named Babbage was loose in the area. They decided to cut the Skulls loose and go battle Babbage instead.

My family is gone because those heroes considered the Skulls to be too far beneath them to bother with arresting them. Ten minutes is all it would have taken to save my family.TEN MINUTES!!! ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS TAKE THEM IN!!!

The anger I felt over this revelation boiled inside me all the way up to the funeral. And when I saw the mahogany casket, flanked on either side by the two smaller caskets, my rage came to a head. I took a vow there, upon the site of my family, to never let evil go free and let no one, good or evil, to stand in the way of my mission. Everything I do and am is because of what I lost that day. Because of my family

The memories transform themselves into tears in my eyes. The image of Synapse in my sight blurs as they well up. The mask is the only thing stopping the tears from falling into the snow beneath me.

ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS TAKE THEM IN!!! The thought blares in my head as the rage overwhelms the sorrow. Because of those heroes, I am now alone. I am no longer the hero I once was. I'm on the verge of entering a path that can't ever be left once you enter onto it. Revenge against those heroes is mine to take.

The tears dry up and Synapse becomes clear again within my sight. I feel my knuckles whiten under my gloves as I tighten my grip on the rifle. My finger curls around the trigger as I start to pull it back. One shot and it's over.

I raise the rifle. That shot won't be taken today. Everything I do, I do in the memory of my family. I won't cross that line in the name of their memory though. I guess there is a little bit of hero inside me after all.

I stand up from my position atop the roof. Grabbing the rifle, I walk away. My silent footprints in the snow being the only indicator I was ever there. I can walk the better path. I don't have to cross that line with hero or villain to honor my family. All I have to do is take them in.
  6. I'm never one to criticize the direction of the game. I'm not on the boards screaming DOOM at I-5 or anything. However, you guys really dropped the ball here.

The people that already did the TFs have to do them again because of the Devs being short-sighted. The other option being wait 6-12 months for a subsequent TF to come out that makes the TF a bit easier and shorter.

In a game where 99% of our time is spent hitting things incessantly, collecting badges was a nice break from the monotony. To force people to rehash HOURS of work they already did for a badge is disappointing. I see why you decided not to datamine and I agree with it. But honestly, you guys should of had this figured out long before now.

I'm not going to leave the game over this or anything. I'm not a doomsayer. But I did want to take the moment to say you guys kinda screwed up here. Perhaps this may motivate to implement other forms of diversion into the game sooner such as skills, so people aren't as focused on badges.
  7. BAH!!!!! The code isn't going in, it says it's invalid. some of the numbers are hard to distiguish, Is that an 8 or a B? A Z or a 2. And then I have one number that looks like I but with just a little extension, but not enough to be a J. This is total BS. Trying every combination I can see to no avail.

And so not to be totally negative, the trailers on the disc rock. I had never seen them before. Makes me want a CoH CGI cartoon.
  8. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Just got back from picking up by pre-order kit at EBGames. So, it's now instores at EB.

Haven't had a chance to check out the disc yet, but the poster is lame. Limited Edition my [censored]. This is the same poster I got when I bought the CoH DVD edition. I know it's free, but I hate when a company hypes up crap.

Another complaint- Scratching off for the serial number. Scratching on the plastic it's painted on is difficult enough without gouging, but the number is so small too. I can barely read mine.

We are an SG designed for those who have nation-themed heroes or heroes from other countries and/or planets. To show that all of us, regardless of background, are unified in our efforts to make Paragon City a safer place.
  10. I went and pre-ordered CoV from an EB store today and they said just today they got an email saying they will have the bonus materials in-store by August 26! That was in Denver, Co. Yay!!
  11. Is there a way to only pay a downpayment on the EB site? I looked through it and it looks like if you order off the site, you have to pay it all up front.
  12. I doubt they are gonna make all 4 available to the masses just because you demand it. They didn't with the prestige sprint powers. I didn't get into CoH until the DVD edition came out and I never got those powers and don't feel left out or anything. Personally, I like that they are doing it this way, means everyone want be running around with the same stuff. I've been clamoring for more variety and this is a step in the right direction.

Now pre-order questions that have yet to be answered:

    1) When are Best Buy and CompUSA going to get CoV on their sites?

    2) Will a DVD version be released at the same time? Is the CE version a CD or DVD version?

    3) Can you pre-order within the store and still get the beta bonuses?
