  1. hrm.. will the mission text (or is it already?) specific about it being a hero class enemy or av class enmy? like it doesnt just mention their name (I wont know its an AV class) it will SAY there will be or not be one or something?

I enjoy fighting them and DONT want to miss any- so this means I will need to know when I get the mission that I must crank up my difficulty to max to get them to spawn as I dont always have a team? or they will spawn anyways as elite bosses?

I just dont want to accidentally miss an AV by zipping through a mission that was going to have one, had I known and gotten a giant team together or cranked up the slider- know what I mean? I've been playing awhile but not so obsessively that I actually know many AV/hero names at all, I missed almost all of them back when I played CoH (cant play that anymore since I remember how my hero *was*- no offense) and now it sounds like they will be even easier to miss during my current run through cov (I'm 28 and have seen I think, one? Half done and I've fought one, single hero, ever?)
  2. FYI- this isnt just wolf missions, it's all board train missions.

I was playing a max difficulty rikti board train miss. the other day, we sweeped it, very challenging, almost all bosses. We did no herding, just fought each and every mob and clicked no glowies. Then we left. Reset it, came back in, started fighting. After about 5 minutes, we all get booted out of the mission and a FAILED message. No timer was ever visible.

    lame.

EDIT: er, how does it make it hard to find people to group with for regualr missions? I dont get it. Find people who like doing the missions you like doing- that's what people who liked these type of missions were doing, it is not hard.

As for annoying pl request tells, that is a different issue- those people are harrassing you, which is indeed wrong, report them and /ignore them.

I think people misunderstand why developers interfere and make changes. I could care less how fast someone earns influence. But I am concerned when someone is doing somethingg "unfun" in order to gain levels quickly and thereby bypassing other, more interesting content. Admittedly, "fun" and "unfun" are completely subjective, so people can disagree.

What about the people who ENJOY herding wolves? I've ran a few and had a blast doing it, much bigger rush than anything else in this game including the AV fights.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, his reply makes no sense to me. You're playing a game, TO HAVE FUN. You find a part of it you like doing over and over for one reason or another (ie- actually leveling is more fun than identical missions over and over) - and the owner of the game decides that you aren't having fun? Er, huh? Why would they be playing it that way if it wasnt fun? People CANCEL when they arent having fun, they dont 'herd' wolves- they herd wolves because they want to level, and leveling is fun, it's the only progress you can make in a loot-less game, there is no other reward at all..

    No.

    No.

    NO.

You do NOT realize the amount of security holes that are opened up with instant messenger programs. I know quite a few people IRL who've had their entire networks shut down by virus/Trojan horses/worms/etc brought in through IM.

No. Keep IM type applications AWAY from Global Chat.

do you want a hand written apology? maybe a bouqet of flowers? the new people will learn, just as you did. if they lack experience, tell them what to do, give them tips.

    [/ QUOTE ]

An apology would be nice yes.

If youd know what the mid-lev characters are dealing with when they invite tanks who think that the controller should take the aggro, youd understand too.

They will learn yes. But it shoulnt be at mine or other hard working heros' expense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    what expense? debt? pffft.

the game isnt that hard folks, I dont think it has anything to do with WLs, some people just play without getting all anal about death. I die once a play session, but I'm always out of debt before I quit playing that day. (L33 blaster)

    doesnt affect me at all....

Exactly. I have been watching this post since it started, and I have to say.....there are a bunch of you out there that do nothing but WHINE.....BTW Would you like some CHEESE with that??.....
I mean come on. Lets be serious. So you dont like some ingame sounds. Turn them OFF. Or better yet, listen to music. Do you really need the sounds to play the game?? No.
Secondly, Cuppajo is only doing the job which he/she has been hired to do. Moderate these forums. She answered your questions, the mods aren't allowed to be discussed here. Simple and to the point. I have never in my life heard more whining and griping from a community as large as this one. You all that did so, just make me sick about being a gamer. Good thing though....there are more of us out there who actually enjoy this game and others like it, to where we cant be included in the vast minority of whining gamers. Get a life. Leave the moderators to do their job. Enjoy the game. Done.

Me, I'm 32, almost 33, and I remember the days before Pong. CoH, and it's free updates, seems pretty nifty to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
26 year old here: the "free updates" are anything but... not only are we paying customers, but they're usually bundled with a healthy dose of nerfs and changes.

The devs aren't offering "free" updates out of the kindness of their hearts. They're doing it to retain paying customers. Stop paying and see how many updates you get.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why don't the people complaining like it's the end of the world put their money where their mouths are and just leave. Obviously if it is so horrible, then you don't want to play anymore, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I DID, then I came back to check it out again because of the lack of superhero games and it was fine. Then 2 days later, they took a dump on me again, hehe. I dont care, it's a game but it's kinda confusing as to what they are thinking. I can read what they say, and its not what they DO. If the game was the way Statesman and the gang seem to think it is, it'd be great. Sycophants don't help, them, other than the 15$/month, but have fun, I'll check back after e3.*

*though I am going to play out this month, of course. I might be able to clear up a debt bubble with the 3 weeks of play I have left!
  8. I think the OPs point is that listing the known issues, regardless of if they fixed them in thier own unreleased internal build already, would have been nice because the players could do some things to avoid them and not get debt due to bugs, etc...

if you're going to leave bugs in, and you know about them, tell us what bugs you know of but did not fix - in the patch notes. reading known issues in the test forum and guessing which ones cryptic felt like fixing isnt what we should have to do to play the game. Debuffs *buffing* enemies? WARN US. Not doing so when you know about it is just inconsiderate.

We know there'll be bugs, fine, we know you dont know of each one or wont fix each one - but warn us when they are intentionally left in due to time or perceived lack of seriousness.

You have an internal list, control-C, control-V can't be too much effort.

That's two bugs (both of which were fixed and are in the pipeline). Neither are crash bugs. When you go live, there are inevitably some bugs - nothing is perfect. We need to make our judgment whether an issue holds up release or not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And sometimes, bugs are not found until a product goes live / ships because one's users are often a much more creative bunch than one's testers. Typical, casual users will often do things in ways seasoned users and testers wouldn't dream of doing.

The CoH codebase is probably hundreds of thousands of lines long. I know from working in software development that sometimes making an innocuous change in one part of the code can have a tremendous, unanticipated change in others.

For some things, the developers deserve some slack.

Although, I'm still miffed that the respec didn't go out with Issue 3. My fire tanker is currently without sleep protection because she hadn't taken Plasma yet.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What if the bug was reported and discussed on the test board before release?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is what bothers me. Same thing happened in previous issues and when they hit live there were, well, issues. So I cancelled. I just came back, whammo, few days later a new update. And it sucks again, heh.

I'll keep checking back because I'm a glutton for punishment, but I really have a hard time convincing old friends to come back. Game seems to be doing fine though, so I guess most people are happy enough.

no flames please, I'm not really knocking the game, I just can't pay for 'average' mmo treatment, and it's funny because there is a perception that these devs are treating players better than other mmo devs - they aren't.

Same ol same ol, except some of the competing games now give free gametime when they screw the pooch, and cryptic/nc don't own up to mistakes and dont play their own game (which is normal for mmo devs, again, no offense)
