Ok so it is a confirmed thing that you can still play on another character and still gain the rewards on another character?

    [/ QUOTE ]Yes

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not that I don't believe you, but do you have a source for that? I've tried several nicely worded PM's asking for confirmation, and so far haven't gotten a response back. (I chalked it up to hero con though.)

As far as I've seen, there hasn't been anything officially posted confirming which way it works.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm afraid I fall into this category as well. I've yet to get a official response to this or where anyone else has gotten an official response. I hope your right and it is per character, but every other game I've ever played that had rewards you earned while being logged out was on an account basis and not character basis. Maybe this one will be different, but I will wait for something official.

When you are playing one character you will still get progress on the other characters.
Only the time you play a specific character will slow down the progress for that specific character.

Are we sure about this? I'm not questioning you directly I just haven't seen a developer comment on it. To be fair I haven't looked for one either. I know in other MMO's I've played you only earn rested xp when the account is logged off and not a particular character. Meaning as long as the account was logged on none of your characters would be gaining rested xp, I assume if the xp portion works that way so will the badge portion. Any one know if we have any confirmation on this?

    Issue 13 Update

I think the mission creator will be great and add way more variety to the game.

Some posts have expressed concerns over not wanting to missions created by other players. I believe they are concerned these missions may just suck maximum back side. I think concerns will be alleviated by peer reviews and DEV'S choice/picks. I am sure there will be a TON of lame missions but; hopefully people will learn from what they're doing wrong and correct the shortcomings of the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oddly enough, bad player created missions aren't my fear at all. Its the limitation of the mission editor. We still don't know exactly what we'll be able to do with it or not, apart from a few facts posted by Posi in a follow-up to the initial release.

Anyway, I can see where this tool will give us missions better than what the DEVS could offer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where do you see that exactly? From what I understand we can't customize bosses and/or their powers because the Devs can't really do this either due to AI limitations. Also I don't see it mentioned where we can import our own characters.

I CANNOT stand seeing the same looking mission over and over and over and over and over ..... I know we'll have the same tile sets but I am hoping we can customize the boss, mobs etc.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah...gonna have to bust your bubble on that. I don't think that's in the cards from what Positron has said.

    [ QUOTE ]
Just having the boss LOOK like a boss would be great - I think it's lame when the target of the mission looks just like the rest of the spawn group (maybe once in a while this is ok but it happens far too often).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It's gonna keep happening.

    [ QUOTE ]
Anyway, there is great potential here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok look. I'm not sure what people are expecting with this mission editor thing. But what I strongly suspect we are getting is a way to GENERATE missions that are very similar in scope to what we get in-game now. Yes we can edit the text, yes we can probably import major NPCs and determine what type of mission objectives there are. Unfortunately, from the last things we've heard about the editor, major customization is going to be impossible. Has that changed since the last info we got? Who knows...but I'm thinking not.

The other thing I want to say about this missions editor feature is that I'm finding it hard to get excited over players creating the same kinds of missions that the devs have been creating for over 4 years. I don't have any doubts that our community can produce some great story ideas and fiction for their missions. My problem is that those missions will still boil down to: Enter through front door, defeat a truckload of improbably placed enemies, click on glowy(s)/and or escort NPC to door.

If the Devs had first brought out an issue that added new types of things to do in missions like avoid or disable traps, investigative puzzles, security espionage and alternate missions paths and arcs to name a few, and THEN had announced this mission editor with more customizable options along with everything else I mentioned above, I'd be doing backflips.

As it stands now, if I'm going to be doing the same types of things I do in regular missions now but with a lesser reward, what exactly am I getting out of them aside from a potentially well written piece of player fiction?

What I'm trying to get at is that the basic mission system in the game needs to be evolved first before player created missions using that same structure become exciting.

This is an MMO. Its not a game like Neverwinter Nights, for example. You won't be able to import your own art assets, create new tilesets from scratch or change the way powers work even.

I usually try to look at things from all sides, but I'm having a hard time seeing how this feature is the only major thing coming with Issue 13. That's not me crying DOOM! I'm gonna keep on playing because I love this game, I just hope something else big is on the issue 13 list that has yet to be made public.

I have to say this sums up my feelings exactly.
  4. Well I will post this since I haven't seen it anywhere else, although I didn't look very hard I admit. While doing the new TF make sure that you don't leave the zone for any reason or you will get kicked from the team and can't be reinvited.

I was doing it last week, before the last mission I figured I would run to the arena and pick up some inspirations. Upon leaving the Midnight Club, wham gone from team. Nothing I can do at that point but shop, go back, and hope to get a reinvite. Got back, but the leader couldn't invite me back. I filed a ticket with support but was told it was working as intended, that if you left the zone you would be dropped from the team.

The ironic thing is upon entering the previous mission the new player tip I got when entering stated that "You can not buy inspirations from contacts during a Task Force but you can purchase them during a Task Force form arena's and the consignment house". Oh well, so much for that being accurate.
  5. Just wanted to take a minute to give my quick opinion of the VEAT's. For the record I was very skeptical of the VEAT's when I first saw the power sets for them, really just rehashed powers. I wasn't exited at all about playing one.

After jumping right into a fire/fire scrapper and playing for an entire day I figured what the heck, I will give the VEAT's a spin, I earned the right. So yesterday I made one of each and played them both up to lvl 14, now I know that isn't far enough along for a detailed opinion, but so far they are a blast. Yes, I still think all of the powers are rehashed versions of others, but they are changed enough to make them more valuable. I also like the idea of branching power sets, I hope to see more of this in the future.

Like I said earlier, this is by no means a detailed review based on 50 levels of game play, but my gut reaction is fun fun fun! If they play this well all the way through I will be more than happy. Thanks for all the hard work on the game and please keep it up!
  6. Good stuff! I think that is the great thing about the Super Hero genre, there really isn't any area of time, space,or history you can't explore. Keep up the good work.
  7. Yeah, thanks a lot for the guide. Me and my fiance took a break for a little over a year and when we came back it was a whole new world with the invention system. This guide answered some questions we had.
  8. Thanks for keeping us up to date Cuppa, and not leaving us hanging. From what I've seen on test it is well wortth the wait.
  9. Having problems entering first two missions from kalenda wiit thug MM. Made two different ones on two different PC's and couldnt log into the missions for some reason. Logged one of my level 40's on and had no problems, ran a mayhem mission with ease so it can't be graphics related.
  10. Happy 2nd Anniversary everyone! I will be here as long as the game is going! Me and my girlfriend met on here about a year and a half ago and things are still going well for us so we have a special place in our hearts for the City of games.
