Ummmmm.... Speed is not what you want to be doing with merits. It all based on datamining...TIME

That is why a lot of TFs and content is low for merits. We have sped through them so quick now we are being punished.

What we as players need to do is go at the pace of a turtle till the next data mining comes out.

This is only way to get the merit rewards increased...

    SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW DOWN

Sorry, no. I'm going to the get the rewards I can, while I still can. Rather than take the time to fix the content that is able to be done "brokenly fast," they're redoing the rewards system instead (which had nothing wrong with it).

Turtling through content isn't fun for me and many of the people I play with. Some other people might like that, but it's the story they're there for, right? So why would a lower reward matter to them?

^^ This content is what people will be speeding through. Of course, it'll also get nerfed first wave of merit "adjusting." The STF and RSF will be slightly slower, I think, once Vengeance stacking gets "fixed." If anything it'll just require you to pack purples and oranges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not to totally derail the thread but Vengeance-stacking has never been a viable tactic against the Patrons. It simply just does not last long enough and isn't worth the effort for a speed run. There are easier, faster, and overall better ways of doing things than Vengeance spam.

    [/ QUOTE ]
When lacking Veng, pulling works. But I've never been on a team that failed to finish off all four AV's before Vengeance dropped. I've been on a few that finished off the heroes on the RSF before it dropped, but that usually doesn't happen, and so when the first person drops, we Veng again.
  3. <QR>

STF, Moonfire, and Hess need guides for heroes. Ice Mistral, Renault, and the 1st/2nd/3rd respec need guides for villains. ITF and LGTF need co-op guides.

To be fair, though, a lot of content doesn't really need its own guide - stealth where possible, kill only what is necessary, fail missions where possible. I'll see what I can do regarding contributions, particularly on the STF, LGTF, and Hess, maybe Moonfire as well. I'm already planning ahead of I13 and respec'ing my TF-running characters into Super Speed (almost a requirement for fast-moving teams) and some form of PvE invisibility.

Ditto. Except for me it's the first. This is the first time I've felt compelled to put someone on ignore in order to prevent myself from being provoked into saying something I'd later regret.

I say something first, then I put them on ignore, and don't bother to try reading their reply. Not the first person though... *counts* looks like he's the 140th person on mine. >.>

So when around do we expect to receive them and for it to start?

Mac Closed Beta applicants who have met the minimum system/OS requirements will be contacted soon.

As my previous post stated, we're just wrapping up a couple of things before we have the kick-off.

All the Mac Closed Beta players will be on their own server (independent of the Open Beta Training Room server), so really, we're just wrapping up a couple of things on the back-end.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So maybe that's what Training Room 01 was taken down for...

  12. To clarify:

The salvage must be turned in after midnight to trigger an invasion. We're still trying to figure out what, if any, timer there is on turning in salvage.

Does the Mac client support two cores like the PC version (ie is renderthread 1 enabled)?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Since the underlying code is the same, I'd assume the answer would be yes - it's just a matter of figuring out how to enable the "renderthread 1" switch, since we won't have access to the same shortcut that PC users do.
  14. Sounds good - I'll PM you with screenshots once I get them taken.
  15. Okay, getting ready to send in my reference screenies, what preferences do you have (closeup, front, side, whatever)?

So on Pinnacle earlier I saw a Zombie raid notice, and then a few minutes later I saw a Rikti Raid in Grandville.

Can I please ask WTF? And can I beg for both at once? Or Zombie Rikti? Or maybe a Rikti costume next year because all I've ever wanted to play was a Rikti and actually hoped that was going to be the Veat?

    Wow, I went off subject.

Is it Rikti time too, or a glitch?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Outside of Rikti invasion event weeks, Rikti invasions are triggered in one random hero or villain zone following completion of a LGTF.

It seems as though the zombie invasions are also able to be triggered outside the Halloween event. We've been doing some experimenting on Justice and it looks as though this is triggered by turning in a set of the costume salvage to get a new costume slot (Annah for heroes, Granny Beldam for villains).

Can someone with a Mac download the 14 day free trial of CoH/V? I have a friend who wants to see what the game is like and i wanted to know if he would be able to use the trial on his Mac.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Once the client is publicly released, yes. Applying game codes, item packs, etc, will work the same as with the Windows version, presumably.

<ul type="square">[*]Mission Teleporter Power - Players can save time and get right into the action by teleporting directly to their active mission.
[*]Exclusive Valkyrie Costume set - Costume pieces include two varieties of wings, a cape, a skirt/kilt, pants, boots, shoulders, chest, gloves, belts, and helmet with multiple details.[/list]These items will be available separately for purchase in early 2009 for customers who are not playing on a Mac. We’ll have further details of these exciting options, including screenshots, in the near future.

Will existing CoH players be able to use the same account login or will it require a brand new account set up? Also, will there be an "upgrade" price for the Mac version?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It'll be just the same as installing a client on a new machine - your account will work and you won't have to pay for a new copy.

I wonder how the bind files will work?...Transferring them all will be troublesome

    [/ QUOTE ]

Another good one for my guide.

The bind files are just text, and can easily be moved via file sharing or a USB stick.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Moving them wouldn't be too difficult - the problem I'd forsee is the fact that within the CoH application itself (well, the Mac version anyways) is a miniature Windows installation. You'd have go into the application files, find that installation, and copy the bind files to where you want them, because I don't think the Transgaming software references locations outside its own application bundle.

OK, not even going to read all the other replys. Simply going to join the whining that it isn't fair that the Apple people get exclusive costumes. Not fair to those of us who have been supporting the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Hi shining one,

The costumes and powers that are included in the Mac version are special items just like what was included in the PC Good vs. Evil version.

And, like the Good vs. Evil edition they will be available for all current subscribers who are interested in them to optionally purchase them. We'll have more details, including screenshots, pricing and availability, out in the near future.

    Thanks for your support!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Hi Lighthouse,
so are you assuring us that, after the initial launch, both versions of the game will be treated exactly the same regarding variety of stuff, date of release and cost of package in any future "Pay to wear/play" type promotions and expansion packs. In other words there will be no "Arms Race" or favouring of one game version over the other even for short time periods.
Simultaneous and equitable marketing strategies for whatever platforms is going to be the rule, yes or no?
    Cheers

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, considering the Mac version is the Windows version, just wrapped in a fancy compatibility layer, they're essentially exactly the same and updates to one would be reflected in the other.

SO EXCITED! Jack Emmert said this would never ever happen ...

    [/ QUOTE ]

So who wants to take bets on this being the biggest thing among that which was mentioned/hinted at in the Game Zone article?

    [ QUOTE ]
Matt: We view competition as a great thing. It’s nice for us and the players that we have almost five years of constant updates and new systems, and most new games will have a challenge competing with that amount of content out the gate.

But most importantly, having competition pushes us to look at our own game and see how we can improve City of Heroes and stay competitive. [u]You’re going to see a lot more features that we thought we’d never be able implement over the next year or so.[u] NCsoft has given us a tremendous amount of support and we think that these features (and others) are critical to keep our leadership position in the MMO market. In this way, the upcoming competition only makes us better as a team and as a product.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll take that bet (although I'd get slapped for insider information) since I know there is more awesome yet to come...

    Tell us nao!
  24. Wonder if Mids would be kind enough to take on the task of porting MHD to OS X. I'd try and get it running through a compatibility layer, but it uses .Net, which a lot of those are picky about.

Won't run on the MacMini, since it has Intel GMA 950 graphics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most MacBooks, other than the ones from late 2007 and after, also use Intel GMA 950.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The GMA 950 isn't officially supported by the Transgaming software. That doesn't mean it won't run, though - quite the opposite, in fact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't say that it is not supported, it says it won't run. So I am unsure. I know people can run it on a 950 when booted in windows, but maybe something about the mac version, or how the game runs in Mac OS, isn't compatible with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, since it is the same exact software the EA used to release an OS X version of Command &amp; Conquer 3, and that runs on my friend's GMA950 MacBook, I'm willing to bet it would also run on this one. Guess that's something we'll have to find out.
