  1. My friend, Unicorn Juices would like to be added. Sonic blaster.
  2. Ya, sign me up. I just hit 50 on my first character and only have one IO set so far (positrons blast) with the rest SOs. If you are ok with all that, please sign me up.

    EDIT: fire/fire/fire blaster
  3. Do they have good drops or something. I understand it sounds like it is a hard mob but is it just an accomplishment because it is difficult or do they have good drops?
  4. sorry to sound like the newb around here but I have a question. When i played wow farm meant to kill the same monster over and over again trying to get an item/exp/etc. From what i've read on this forum it has a negative connotation associated with it and i'm not sure why. So what exactly is the difference in meanings between games?
  5. Ok I think i've incorporate the first round of comments. I got responses below. Of course, let me know what you think. The set below has 184% recovery +65% recharge according to total sheet in the builder. The first one had 187% recovery and 63.8% recharge but gained a good bit of damage.

    1) Consume - 234 and leav both thought consume needed changes. Added 6 piece Efficiacy there. It is really a good set. I originally had 2 End Mod/1 Rech. So this required adding 3 slots.

    2) Inferno - 234 wanted me to take 1 slot away and add 5 piece obliteration. Leav wanted me to add 4 dmg/rech IOs from different sets. I really like the bonuses for obliteration so I added 5 pieces to it. Therfore, I took away one slot

    3) Char - Had to add 1 slot. Added 4 piece devastation/2 Piece lock from 234's build.

    4) Rise of the Phoenix - removed 3 slots. Originally had 5 piece performance shifter 1 recharge. Added 3 piece obliteration from 234's build.

    5) Changed lvl 49 ability to recall friend. A purpose for this ability would be nice. Seems useless.

    6) Ring of fire - I hate it so I don't plan on changing it. Blaze/fire blast/fireball hopefully will be ok for single mob attacks. I will keep this in mind for a tweak later. I apologize.

    7) Fire Breath - Had to add 1 slot and put a range IO in it.

    8) Health - replace Miracle Heal w/ Numina's Heal; would lose -4% regen -2.5% recovery but 1.88% hp. I kind of don't want to do that because I want the 2.5% recovery. I will keep this in mind if as a possiblity later. No changes were made.

    9) Combat Jumping - removed 4 sockets. Keep kismet (acc +6%) and luck of the gambler (recharge speed). This made me lose 1.5% Recovery but I made it up at efficiacy set bonus that was just added.

    10) Fire Sword Circle - drop 4 piece scircco which the only good set bonus was +9% acc (nothing else good imo) but changed it to 5 piece obliteration 1 end. The set bonus on obliteration for 5 pieces includes +9% acc and had other great bonus which i'm sure is why it was suggested. [/b]Had to add two slots[/b].

    11) Blazing Aura/Hot feet - at this point i only had one extra slot. I added one to blazing aura and reworked the enchancements for both to fit the suggestions. I don't know where to get more slots and I slot 1.5% Recovery doing this by dropping Tempest 2 piece.

  6. Question 1: If I one slot combat jumping should i keep the +6% hit or the recharge speed. Seems like a good idea to keep both.

Question 2: 3 dmg IO is 42.4*3 and the same for recharge I think (don't have numbers in front of me). If i changed inferno to 4 slots with 4 dmg/rec at 25.6% each how does that equate to the same enhancement values exactly?
  7. Ok, looks like I got a little more homework to do. I'll incorporate the comments and try to post a build later this week. I won't have access to my computer with the builder for 3 more days and I can't download it on the computer i'm currently using. Any other comments are always welcome.
  8. Sweet haven't had time to look through everything but i will. I appreciate it.
  9. This is my first character period and I just hit 50 today. There are several questions/comments at the end of the post after the build, so please read the entire post before you reply please. I have been studying IOs and thinking about my build for a week now. I've done a lot of research but am not an expert, hence this post.

I used this guide as a starting template just fyi. I don't take credit for the entire build.

                                                          1) The abilities I've chosen may not be the best overall for a fire/fire blaster. The abilities i've chosen are fun for me and that is why I play this game. Unless there is something obviously wrong with the abilities i've chosen they are pretty much set in stone.

                                                          2) The guide I referenced highly valued recharge over damage. Is this a general consensus among blasters, if not then the entire build will need to be redone and that's fine.

                                                          3) I have absolutely no idea what to choose as my level 49 ability. Assault is decent but i'm afraid I have too many toggles and I only have one slot in it therefore little end. reduction.

                                                          4) Ranged Damage IO set - Decimation (lvl 40) vs Devastation (lvl 50). The guide suggested:
                                                          Decimation
                                                          Acc (62.7%), End Red (43.4%), Dam (91.6%), Rec (62.7%)
2: reduces the duration of Immobilize effects on you by 2.75%.
3: Increases maximum Health by 1.13%.
4: Increases maximum Endurance by 2.25%.
5: Improves the Recharge of all your powers by 6.25%.
I like devastation alot which has more % modifiers overall
                                                          Devastation
                                                          Acc (66.3%), End. Red (45.1%), Dam (119.3%), Rec (66.3%)
2: Improves your Regeneration by 12%.
3: Increases maximum Health by 2.25%.
4: Improves the Damage of all your powers by 3%.
5: reduces the duration of Hold effects on you by 3.3%.
Since the primary focus of the build is recharge I can see why he choose decimation but was curious what the pros thought.

                                                          5) Melee Damage - Same as question 4 with Crushing Impact vs Mako's Bite.

                                                          6) Inferno - The guide suggest 3 dam (127.2%) and Rec (127.2%) but I also looked at the set below.
                                                          Sciroco's Dervish (50) Acc (74.2%), End Red (47.7%), Dam (100.7%), Rec (95.4%)
                                                          Acc/Dmg 26.5% each
                                                          Dmg/End 26.5% each
                                                          Dmg/Rec 26.5% each
                                                          Acc/Rec 26.5% each
                                                          Acc/Dmg/End 21.2% each
                                                          Recharge 42.4%

My thought is that inferno is always used with build up/aim and that should take care of accuracy, so it may be better to do the 3 dmg/3 recharge. Just wanted opinions.

                                                          7) How exactly does Celerity: Stealth, Mirage + Rec, Numina +Rec/+Reg, Regeneative Tissue +Reg work, and a few others. The COH wiki says they last 120 seconds but I can't find what the cooldown is.

Ok I realize this is a lot to ask. You don't have to answer everything just help with what you can. So....let the scrutiny begin.
  10. My team play consists of 90% of my playtime to be honest. My friends play a tanker and a controller. So together we have the basics: tank + heals + dps to beat most situations. We planned that from the get go.

It sounds like i'm on the right track. I will probably take Nemu_s approach to the character. Thanks for all the advice it was very helpful.
  11. Well at this point, I won't reroll because my friends are the same level as me and I don't want to abandon them. I come from playing a mage in world of warcraft, so my mentality for a blaster originally was like a mage which you would never dream of entering melee range. But I did get use to using fire sword circle/fire breath. So if a /fire blaster is centered around melee, could someone suggest to me what is a fun combination. I don't care about min/maxing at this point, that is what burned me out in wow, I just care about fun. Any fun melee combos you guys would suggest.
  12. So if I don't take leadership; that frees up 4 more abilities. What would be a good 4th auxillary power pool. Or should I just go w/ three and the 4 extra abilities elsewhere?

Fire sword just doesn't seem to fit my play style. I like to open up from a distance, when enemies get low i'll go in fire breath/fire sword circle. They may not be optimal but it fits my personality/playstyle. Hope that makes sense.

Hasten seems great and i've seen it in most end game builds. 3 SOs in build up/aim and hasten. I can't begin to imagine how low the cooldown on those will be.

I guess you're right about the APP, i'll just wait till 35 or so and start thinking about it.

I love Rain of Fire simply because of the animation. It looks awesome on my computer but I tend to save it for bosses. Nothing else stays alive long enough

Consume I may take after I get a feel for how well stamina helps me. I'll be getting it at 24, yes i'm sure that is late, but i'm just learning. When I started the character I didn't know I got 4 ancilliary power pools.

I don't really like anything centered around meleeing so I guess I won't do hot feet. Blazing bolt sounds fun just to one shot a lieuntant.

I edited my main post but still have some holes to fill.
  13. Ok i've played a few mmos in the past and I know that i'm sure I will get several "your a noob" comments and that's fine because I am one. I am currently a level 23 fire/fire blaster. Took me and my friends maybe two weeks to get here. So i'm starting to think about my level 50 build. I used suckerpunch's planner so I didn't have to download anything (i'm at work lol). I am not really concerned about what level to get what ability. I just want a level 50 build to aim for. The abilities I want at level 50 are listed below and then I have a few questions.

Fire Blast Abilities that I like:
    Flares
    Fire Blast
    Fire Ball
    Rain of Fire
    Fire Breath
    AIm
    Blaze
    Blazing Bolt (EDIT 1)
    Inferno

    Fire manipulation Abilities
Ring of Fire (I dislike it but I think I have to have it)
    Fire sword circle
    Build up

    Secondary Power Pools
    1) Fitness
    Swift, Health, and Stamina
    2) Flight
    Hover, Fly
    3) Speed
    Hasten
    4) NO IDEA PLEASE ADVISE (EDIT 1 Removed Leadership)

This is what I like so far, I have several questions:
    1) I can't decide on a Patron Pool. Any advice from the pros?
    2) Removed leadership question (EDIT 1)
    3) The skills above my level I have only read about/watch some youtube videos. From the descriptions I can't decide on blazing aura, consume, burn, and hot feet seem not that great but I wanted your guys opinions.

Once again i'm just interested in a starting place for a decent level 50 build. Once I settle on that and have research IO sets a little more i'll come back w enchament questions and which sets to choose. If you feel like adding to that be my guest. For now i'm just using level 25 SOs in all my abilities. Any advice is great.

Basically what i'm doing on missions now is as follows. I have build up/aim 3 sockted SOs so their cooldown is around 50s I think. I usually pop those, cast fire ball, run in fire sword circle. Then, click the farthest enemy away and cast fire/flame breath and hit 4-5 enemies (if they aren't already dead). Most enemies drop after the fire sword circle. You can always critique how I play as well if you like.

EDIT 1: I think I have 6 abilities left I don't know what to do with. 3 or 4 will be the APP at 41 but the others I have no idea. Corrected some text to reflect this.
