Quote:I'm... not entirely sure what you mean by this LoT.I like how you put that caveat in there of 'some time' lol Yeah it only took several YEARS and hundreds of posts by far smarter posters than I that understand math and complex systems that it was a good thing. I'm just hoping it's not to late to salvage a very broken system with this revelation.
The Auction House is just one way to accomplish in-game item procurement. It is by no means the end-all / be-all of item procurement. Granted the severe abuse of the auction house system has driven players to use everything but the auction house to procure items they want.
Merging the servers may or may not address the market abusers. Until the problem players are dealt with, it's generally going to be less time-consuming for the casual player to keep doing what they've been doing: running AE, Ouro, and Task Forces for what they want. -
Actually I'm fairly sure that player's account has been banned... multiple times. Which I'm pretty sure means that his account is one of the few Mod 08 indicated is barred from beta access.

Quote:go read the stickies in the Announcement thread.so this is only for testing characters in Issue 17?, becuse I have access to my DP and DS characters and they have their powers, and I can make them
BUT I can't get into the other training room and have no information about the GR testing
I had the pre purchase already, but again still no entry to closed beta, I was uder the impresson that 5year vets, loytaly program and pre purchace were in the closed beta arn't we? -
Quote:BINGO!I doubt it. If they meant "active account", they probably would have just said "active account". If you've had your account temp banned and/or have a reputation for being a jerk, you're probably not "in good standing".
Here's the thing: if you at any point have annoyed the devs, been banned from the forums, or have otherwise been a complete and total jacka... well, you know. South End of a North bound Donkey.
You probably are NOT going to get an invite to the beta.
Also: making a thread that you are NOT in the beta pretty much also is a straight guarantee that you will not be INVITED to the beta. -
Knockback Protection IO's are "passive" procs. They work as long as you are within three levels below the proc level, or at any point above the proc level.
-
same. Perfect place for Knockback and Resist + Def procs.

Quote:Outside of Freedom, the PvP activity on all other servers can basically be described in terms of what PvPWhat American server has the least amount of PvP, comparatively?
back during the free server transfers "most" PvP'ers moved to Freedom.
PvP events still "occur" on other servers, but they tend to be clique / group organized. -

I can pretty much tell you it won't be in Going Rogue. There wasn't enough interest for Matrox triple screen / Eyefinity support to dedicate programming resources to the change.
I have been told that the issue will be brought up again after Going Rogue launches, and we "might" see it as a QOL upgrade at a later date. -
Quote:Short version: it was confirmed that Castle was addressing this post: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=208I must have missed it... Was there something juicy leaked?
No... Wait. Don't answer that ;-). -

.... okay. I have to ask. Is Pohsyb in a straight jacket, and is this why I can't tune into Television?

Quote:Short version: player came onto the forums. leaked information from the closed beta. Mod's don't work on weekend. Forum had entire weekend for the thread to go on. Monday hit. Mod's were met at the door with War Witch dressed as Dominatrix and demanding that they clean up the mess, or get sent to the sewers in chains.Huh? what thread.
And as to it being deleted, that's odd without it still at least being in my recent posts and saying "thread deleted" when I try to go to it, rather than have it just disappear completely and make me think i'm crazy... Very rude!!!
Okay, so that last bit probably didn't happen.
As to why there's no notification of it being deleted, that's just how the forum software works. You'd want to take that up with vBulletin. -
One of the reasons Intel's socket's lasted for so long is that they used an external memory controller, so they could change memory types and other bus infrastructure without changing the processor pin-out, or change the processor but not the infrastructure. Now that Intel has moved to the Integrated memory controller... well... they run into the same problems a "lot" of analysts saw with AMD's Socket 754 / 939 / 940 strategy back in 2003...
The rapid socket change is why AMD's Socket AM3 processors carry both a DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller, and why they'll "work" across Socket AM2+ and AM3 boards. Some will also work back with original AM2 sockets... providing the vendor pushed out a BIOS update.
As of right now, I think AMD is promising that the "next" range of consumer processors will be backwards compatible with Socket AM3. They'll work in Socket AM3 motherboards, but you'll need a new motherboard to take full advantage of the system infrastructure. Ergo, right now, if I was buying something I was thinking about upgrading in 2 or 3 years, it would be an AM3 platform. -

Quote:OEM System builder copies do nothing to prevent you from upgrading parts.and the question remains... why would you go OEM? it seems stupid if you upgrade parts anywhere near often...
OEM of the version I want is $150, retail is $300... and that would make getting it easier, but the untransferability seems... quite a bit restrictive to me since i don't know really what i can change or not without problems.
If you change enough parts you have to sit through the telephone Windows Activation System, but since you have to do that on the Retail versions of NT6 systems to begin with, it's not really a deal breaker. -
Quote:I think you are referencing the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM product I listed in my $700 build. Here's the catch to it:Neither. we're talking mainly about hardware here.
OEMs are linked to the Mobo and other hardware. So If I get get a new mobo(like I'm planning on) I've wasted my money if I get an OEM... unless there is something I don't know.
Basically, if you buy a system builders copy, you have to provide support for the product. This generally isn't a big deal as Microsoft's support pretty much is the industry standard for bad to begin with.Quote:Use of this OEM System Builder Channel software is subject to the terms of the Microsoft OEM System Builder License. This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale. This OEM System Builder Channel software requires the assembler to provide end user support for the Windows software and cannot be transferred to another computer once it is installed. To acquire Windows software with support provided by Microsoft please see our full package "Retail" product offerings.
Also, Father Xmas:
This isn't exactly... true. Microsoft has used product activation to lock out Retail copies of WinXp, Vista, and 7 that were only active on one computer at a time. Yes, I know Microsoft says you can move a retail copy around, but most of the time when somebody wants that done, I wind up having to plow through the telephone version of the Product Activation system.Quote:Retail editions are treated like any other part, you can move it from machine to machine, as long as it's only on one machine at a time. -
Quote:mewit. I knew I was forgetting something in there. For budget builds I normally buy Apevia's X-Qpack cases which come with power-supplies, and I forgot the case I had put in that list lacked one.je_saist has only 2GB and no power supply. Which is how he paid for the higher end motherboard, nearly top end AMD Phenom II quad core and 500GB larger hard drive than mine.
Also: why only 2gb? Well. Most (consumer) applications today are still optimized for 32bit addressing. In a 32bit OS the maximum amount of directly addressable memory is around ~3gb. My Phenom II system with 8gb of memory only reports 3039mb in 32bit mode, and my I7 with 4gb of memory only reports 2531mb in 32bit mode.
Basically, you can feed computer games more than 2gb of memory, but if they are getting installed in C:\Program Files(x86) ... it's pretty much doing no extra good. So, when building down to a price, for me the system memory is generally the first thing to go.
*must... resist... promotional... urges...*Quote:Mine is a mere inexpensive dual core with a more mainstream motherboard, only a 500GB hard drive but 4GB of memory. Similar video cards however.
There are a few other examples online of low cost system.
bit-tech.net May's affordable "all-arounder" (unchanged for June)
Tom's Hardware June 2010 $550 build.
The Tech Report's Spring 2010 Econobox (a little light in the video card department for Ultra Mode).
All three come without OS which sets you back another $100 (aka the Microsoft tax). -
The mods are going through and deleting any and all potential references to information leaked from the Going Rogue beta. Some accounts responsible for the leaks also seem to have been nuked from orbit in the same pass.
If your thread was purely speculation, then feel free to create it again. If your thread was NOT pure speculation... well... I'd suspect any follow-up thread will quickly find itself in the recycling bin. -

Quote:That's what it sounds like. So, if you rolled DP or DS characters in Test server, now you won't be able to play them if you haven't already bought GR? Am I understanding this right?
I just logged in a friends account on test who hasn't done the pre-purchase. Logging into a pre-existing Dual Pistols avatar, all dual-pistol powers not already claimed are "dulled" out. Dual Pistol powers gained from leveling, however, seem to activate properly on level claim, and on log-out and log-back-in. -
