  1. I went with stone melee so that I would have Fault and Tremor to help out on crowd control. One of the few tanks that I really appreciate having the Wedding Band for in the 20s and 30s. Now with tough I hardly use the WB anymore.
  2. What I take as a travel power is passed actually on which power sets I am taking. Basically do I need Air Sup, Combat Jump or Hasten to make my alt better.

On my Inv/SS tank, I took Air Sup to replace punch. Powers do the same damage, but it let me trade one power for an equal power and lets me take another power as I level up.

On my fire/fire tank I took combat jump for the extras it provides and a place to put my knockback protection IO.

My Elec/stone tank took Air Sup because I needed another attack in the low levels. Even at 30 I only have air sup and two attacks from my secondary that do damage. Plus the other 4 bonus, temp attacks I have.

My spines/dark scrapper went with hover to prevent knockback, very old alt before IOs. Back then hover converted knockback to a spin. He has plenty of speed to keep up with people when in hover, since I 3 slotted it and put a fly SO in swift.

My rad/rad defender of course went with hasten to match with Acc Metab.and SS, but then I went back to hover-flight for travel. I really hate super speed. I used to get by with just hover and super speed, but it was just a pain. I really prefer my defenders to float out of reach of most melee villians. I do tend to take hover flight on most defenders and blasters, afterall distance has its own defense. Of course now there are temp flying powers so I could change him back again.

So I never take a travel power just for its own sack. It really depends on what else I can get out of that set.
  3. I went with stone melee since I thought it would help cover some of electrics short comings. So far at 29 it seems to work just fine. Between Fault knocking them down, Power Sink to refill my endurance and after two applications in 30 seconds to drain everything, and Energize to refill health he is holding his own just fine. Did a TF the other night with a bunch of 30-50s and he was standing long after everyone else was down when we ran into too many groups.

The funny thing was one of the scrappers was surprised at how much damage I was doing, I dont have the heart to tell him I only had two attacks from my secondary and the other 5 attacks were temp powers or longevity bonus attacks, two sands of mu when you are in the middle of large mob are bound to hit a few villians. Wish I could get 3 or 4 versions of that power.
  4. Slot it up and you will throw it out just to watch the twitching. I get a smile everytime I use this power. One of my favorite nukes. Where is the fun in watching your foes blow up when they can dance for you.
  5. I still dont see anything about getting a temp travel power in the Hollows. So you will still have to go to Kings Row and do missions there to get a Safeguard mission.
  6. 1. Remember they hired a bunch of new people and I imagine that the Hollows was a quick and easy way to train them in level design. Not much is really changed, but everything in a level design is sort of touched on. New mobs, new contacts, new missions, etcs. What better way to train your new people then let them touch up a zone.

    2. I still wont go to the zone unless I can get the temp. travel powers. The temp travel powers were the best things they could have done to get people to go to Kings Row again. With those temp travel powers I can skip a travel power until the 20s and lets me get more exciting powers early.

    3. Boomtown is my favorite zone for hunting large spawns with characters that can do AOE damage until I can go to Dark Astoria. I would like it to stay basically the same, but would like to see some updates too, so sort of mixed on it. I guess if they started construction around the door and had a couple of contacts there to send you on a couple of missions would be nice, plus a mobile hospital too, lol. What would be nice is another temp power you could get there, that would bring the crowds back into Boomtown. I just hate to see my hunting grounds get too crowded.

How about a small contruction zone at the door. A police substation for radio missions. 3 or 4 contacts for a story arc and a small TF at the end. A mobile hospital. Some type of temp power that is awarded for bank mission or the TF.

    4. Perez Park needs something too. I hate those woods. My solution is since it is a zone between everyother zone if you look at your map, is make it a big multilevel parking garage with a subbasement that has a sewer for the hyrdra to hang out in.
  7. To be honest the reason I stay with COH is that the other games are too hard. Dont laugh. I tried one fantasy game and I couldnt figure out how to slot skills and powers and what ever else they had. I mean how hard is it to decide Fly will go faster with three slots then one slot. Then what do I put in that Fly slot, either a Fly SO or an End SO. Nice and simple.

The other thing that throws me for a loop is what do I do with all the daggers, swords, axes, bows, maces, etc I pick up. Some do extra damage, some do extra magic, so do things like add hit points, etc. Also I am afraid to throw out anything since I might need it down the road. I must look like a human pack mule coming down the road. Two 2-handed swords, 3 bows, a mace, a club, 4 daggers, a big shield, 2 small shields, and a sack of some yellow dust. But you cant tell what my alt is carring because he looks the same as the other 20 priests you see on the street.

Combat is so much more fun in COH then any other MMO that I have done or watched. My son used to do FF and combat there just made me scratch my head. You have a team of 6 or so people that stand around some really stupid looking monster,(the Japanese are really strange about monsters), they press attack at the beganing of the battle and then just stand around. Sort of reminds me of text games in the distant past. The other games that I have tried are not much better. Sure you can hit different buttons to do some combos, but you dont move, you just stand there. Unlike COH where you are hoping all over the place, you are always moving and switching what you target. I love the combat in COH. You have so many options.

I will stick with COH until COH 2 (MUO) comes out. Then with the lessons they learned in COH on how to make a fun game, COH2 will be even better. I really hope so. I might try Tabula Rosa or Conan. But I just dont see them replacing the super hero in me.
  8. Your story sounds like the path I took. I have played on and off with mine and he is at level 30 now. After much testing on the test server, I have finally found a build I like.

I used to use the cj,sj, acrobatics path, but it just bugged me having to use 3 powers for knockback protection and a heavy end using toogle on top of it. Once they announced the upgrade in hover speed, I went directly to test and tried it out. Wow, 3 slotted hover and a flight in swift made it doable. I freed up another power by going with flight, so now I have all the shields slotted and all my attacks with 3 slots. Cant wait for a couple of more slots to fill them up.

I still find that my health tends to fall a little too quickly for me, but dark regen fills me up. If end gets low I just stop attacking and let my two damage auras tick, tick, tick away. This is the highest I have ever gotten a scrapper, I am more a tank, defender type of player and find scrappers too squishy, but Spiney Demon is just so fun to play. I love running in and with build up, watching everything fall over.
