Here are some things I've favorited on deviantArt on the subject:
Body construction tutorial with link to pattern
Hair tutorial
The Ladder Stitch - use this to attach the head to the body, or any other "last" seam
Tips on stuffing, fabrics, poseability, and eyes
Hope that helps! -
Awright, I've settled on a character to post here... I don't think I've posted yet, have I? Anyway, here's Zenith Fighter X:
(Front/back/side references)
Princess Helkath, head of the Aldhibain Royal Force, third daughter of Queen Giauzar, came to Earth via an accident with a warp portal and decided her sword was needed. Small for a female Aldhibaini, she makes up for being only seven feet tall with her ferocity in battle. She has acclimated to living among humans fairly well, but has occasional difficulty pronouncing English words, particularly the letter T. -
Just to be sure - the server-wide contests are taking place on the individual servers, and only the finals are on the test server, right?
-
I think it'd be awesome if, instead of opening up my propel wormhole right in front of me and blasting the pool table/statue/forklift/etc in a straight line between me and the critter, I had the option of opening it several feet directly above the enemy instead, thereby dropping the object onto the critter instead. Come on, fellow gravity trollers/doms, who's with me?
-
Surely this must have been reported already - but female characters can't use the Occult pattern on the high collar capes, nor can they use the original "long cape" patterns at first level the way male characters can.
-
Yes, in one case. On Triumph, I have a level-late-thirties character that probably SHOULD be generic'd and certainly would have been had NCSoft's lawyers been bothered by Square/Enix instead of Marvel, but I can't bring myself to delete him since I've had him so long (though I've made an agreement with myself that if he hits 50, I will screencap it, log out, and delete him on the spot). On Virtue, I have a character with the same build, inspired by the same character, but redone as a Mender - I'm pretty sure that one is safe, though, given that the devs themselves have slipped in a few NPCs that are also clearly inspired by other people's characters.
Actually, now that server transfers are free, I'm toying with the idea of transferring the higher-level character who shouldn't exist to Virtue and getting a rename token for him, transferring the entire identity of the lower-level character over to the higher-level character, and deleting the lower-level character... -
You guys are on Virtue, right? I'll probably join if you are.
-
Brushed by Greatness is a cool name.
Meanwhile, I would join - I've got a load of un-SG'd characters on Virtue, though none of them are very high level. -
I submitted the original mere hours after the group came online!

All right, er, hi. I confess I'm a little nervous about starting an art thread, but sometime a month or more ago I posted in the City Scoop art submissions thread and was told I probably should... anyway, I haven't done a lot of CoX art as of yet, but I am hoping to get on drawing some more, since I've got so many new alts these days. This is the one I submitted to the City Scoop, and one of my favorite things I've ever drawn, regardless of CoX content:
^Picture is a dA link
...so, uh, yeah. Art thread, more coming, etc etc. You have no idea how tough it was for me to actually hit the submit button. -
Bravo! That was great - I especially liked the big montage of other people's characters.

OK, Circle of Thorns was a bad example. Switch "Stop demon-summoning portal" with "This subordinate is too dangerous and I think he might be about to stage a coup, kill him."

Easiest solution? Take off the Arbiters' helmets and give them faces. As Fleeting Whisper said, Leery, Daos, and Sands already go without helmets, so it's not like there's no precedent. Maybe even if villains ever get a new zone, toss us a female Arbiter as a trainer? There's nonspeaking female Arbiters as "scenery NPCs" in Grandville and at Fort Darwin, so we know they aren't all Fateweavers.
Taking the helmets off of the Arbiter trainers would also make them differentiable at a glance from Quartermasters, which would be kinda nice as a convenience for new players sometimes when an Arbiter and a Quartermaster are standing in the same vicinity. I've been here for years and even I sometimes head to the Quartermaster in Grandville when I really want to train. -
I've done the same thing with my Corruptor - he's supposed to be a brooding sorcerer with primarily darkness-based spells but a few in other elements, and wouldn't you know it, but Moonbeam in pale yellow or pale purple makes quite a respectable lightning bolt, and Night Fall colored yellow and red produces some lovely hellfire (still working out the best way to get some Cold action in on this - so far the best I've come up with is making Tar Patch look as much like snow as I can). Without power coloring, I wouldn't have had any way to represent his knowing such spells. Most of his less-altered powers have also been made darker, since I didn't like the greenish tinge that most of them had before. Oh, and I did the same green-to-red switch on the healing that Dispari did, for the same reasons.
Granted, this is more apropos to apply to APPs than PPPs and EATs, but still... -
d'aaaaaagh I want one of Eldrix the Blackbird! they're so awesome!

There's a drop-down menu at the top of the contribution window where you can choose which gallery your submissions go into. By default, it's set to "screenshots."

Quote:It is a pain in the butt for most applications, but when you're using it to search your own stuff - like you would be when using it for this particular application - it is MUCH simpler. Also worth knowing is that while it does use keywords, it also uses any words that appear in the title of the piece or even in the Artist's Comments (which can be annoying). So, in practice, that means that if I were looking for my scrap "Eldrix Reference" to submit and entered "Eldrix" as my only search term, it would return five images that I could select from: My deviation "Soul Train vs. Eldrix" and the scrap I'm looking for "Eldrix Reference," both of which have the search term in the title, plus my older drawing of the character "The Blackbird Strikes," my "Colorful Magic Aura Tutorial" that I made when someone asked me how I did the aforementioned drawing, and "Beata Reference," all three of which have the name 'Eldrix' somewhere in the artist's comments. If my search term was "Eldrix Reference," I would get only two results: Eldrix Reference and Beata Reference.I've been finding that the searching for deviations is a pain in the butt, though if it works for you, go for it. Doesn't it search via keywords?
Since I have the "Your Gallery" button highlighted when I search, it only will bring back results that are actually mine - so if someone else had drawn Eldrix and posted her, that piece would not show up. The end result is no more annoying to deal with than sifting through your entire gallery like you would have to had you not used the search, and more likely, it'll be less annoying since you have less to sift through. Assuming you know the title of your own scrap, it's cake. -
You CAN add things from Scraps. They do not show up in the list of choosable Deviations, but if you type the title of the Scrap you want to submit into the included Search box and search for it, it will show up and be selectable. Since all game screenshots including your character reference shots should be in Scraps anyway and not in your main gallery, this is an important thing to know, so your references can be submitted!

Quote:PVP Mayhem Missions? OH HELL YES. I'm terrible at PVP and probably wouldn't do them, but that's still a concept that I've been thinking for a long time would be really cool.I had an idea for a "Challenge" mission. This be done in PVP/Arena locations.
Hero or Villain sends out a Challenge request via the Arena like menu.
The foe accepts aka a Villain if a Hero sent the Challenge.
Villain Goal is to destroy, Rob a bank, or Rampage.
Destroy mission the Villain goes after a target device. The Hero tries to stop the Villain. This be similar to Guard the Flag type PVP.
Villain Bank Robbery is simple like a Mayhem mission but the Hero that comes to stop you is another player.
Rampage the I would live to see a destructible map (even destructible buildings). The Villain would destroy as much as possible in a given amount of time. Hero of course tries to stop the Villain. -
There is no reason a "Master Plan" mission can't work exactly the same way for villains - one must always remember that Evil is NOT unified. When the Circle of Thorns brings up an enormous, AV-level, demon-summoning portal, that's just as much a threat to Lord Recluse and whatever grunts he sends to bash the Circle's collective face in as it is to Paragon City's heroes. Actually, when I think about it, I've never been on one but isn't a Rikti Mothership raid essentially this on a larger scale? Not like villains can't do that! All that would be different between Blueside and Redside for this sort of mission is the style of writing from the mission giver.

Sweet, I'm in! Which gallery do I use to submit art?

Eldrix the Blackbird - Gravity/Energy Dominator

Ah... well, all right then. Thanks for the clarification. Guess I'll start grinding for fifteen levels.
