This issue probably isn't a browser issue. More than likely it's an issue between your credit card company/bank and NCSoft. This is NCSoft's brilliant risk management security feature. I tried different computers, different browsers, different OS and all failed the same, so I contacted NCSoft support.
I eventually got to make my purchase. After talking to support for a while, they told me it appeared as if my purchase was being made from Ohio, while I'm in California. They eventually decided to do something to activate a one time purchase. So if you haven't done so, open a support ticket with NCSoft and eventually you'll get to make your purchase. -
Support has now told me I've triggered their Risk Management security feature and that I should wait until a later date and make sure my billing and contact info is up to date.
This is a joke.
I'm using the same credit card I use for my monthly subscriptions (2 accounts), which I'ver used for years.
If this same Risk Management security feature kicks in when my next monthly subscription is due, I'm not going to bother trying to get it fixed. Paragon Studios is awesome....NCSoft? Not so much. -
Wow, I can't buy it for either of my accounts.
I opened a support ticket and they asked all sorts of questions about when I originally activated the account...which was over 5 years ago.
I never had to answer anything like this when I bought every other booster pack.
I don't know if this is some anti-hacker security thing or not, but just a brief glance at my purchase history would show I used the same card for all the booster packs.
I was reluctant to buy this pack to begin with but now with all this BS, I'm starting to change my mind. -
Since I got Ninja Run and CT I rarely take the pre-reqs, if I take a travel power at all. If I take a travel power, most of the time it's fly.
I love Swift + Hurdle + Sprint + Ninja Run and lately most of my toons use this combo with no other travel power. If I need vertical and don't take Fly, I buy/get a temp fly power.
I used to love Super Speed and usually planned on taking it and Stealth on most of my toons (along with Hurdle and CJ), but I can not stand travel speed suppression. I HATES it. I consider it the worst change to CoH/CoV. Since NR has supprsssion, inside missions I just leave Sprint on and NR off.
If I want some extra Def and have room for it, I'll get Combat Jumping and make a macro to switch between CJ an NR, so I can get the extra run speed from NR and the Def from CJ as needed. -
I had the same problem with my 5870.
When i17 went live, I was using the 10.3 or 10.4 drivers. When I initially configured UM, I disabled vsync. I had some lag/graphics issues and was trying different settings and tried enabling vsync but it crashed every time I clicked enable.
I haven't had the problem since I rolled back to 10.1, enabled vsync, a patch went to live, I went back to 10.4. I'm pretty sure I can disable and enable vsync now without crashing, not really sure since I was able to enable it and stopped messing with settings. -
I'll file this under other oddity since some of you are mentioning lag. I play a particular AE mission quite a bit in a team of 5, with difficulty set to team of 8. Since i17 came out, I've experienced pretty bad lag in that mission (it's the steel canyon outdoor map). I get lag elsewhere as well but it's really noticeable in that AE mission. My rig is brand new (5870, win 7 64bit, 6G ram) so I don't think it's my rig.
I tried all sorts of things to get rid of the lag (10.4,10.1, ultra mode on/off, etc.) and determined the lag went away if I turned ultra mode off. But in tweaking all the settings, I also determined the lag went away with ultra mode on if I left the Options menu for tweaking the graphics settings open while playing. My settings are all ultra mode settings with depth of field and ambient occlusion disabled, fsaa x4 using 10.1 drivers (10.4 drivers cause more random crashes, especially when changing vertical sync...10.4 always crashes if I change vertical sync). I updated my sound drivers to the latest as well, because I get random crashes which I assume are related to sound.
Seems odd to me anyway. -
Quote:I got that with my 5870 before i17 and was hoping it would go away with the new issue but I still have it with i17. Using 10.3 drivers...gonna try 10.4 tonight but assume it will still be there.I've been getting flicker too (opening contacts, accessing arcs in oro, etc), but I started getting that before I17 after updating my very old ATI drivers. It's almost as if the game is taking a screenshot at points, because when the flicker occurs I will see something that happened earlier. I get the same for an instant when I log off - before returning to my desktop I will see a screengrab from the game which disappears after a second or so.

Here's my dumb suggestion: remove xp from AE (leave inf & insp) and introduce YAC (Yet Another Currency) for normal missions as an opt-in, like turning off xp. This new option would disable randrom drops (enhancements, recipes, salvage only) from regular missions and instead give something similar to AE tickets (call them Heroic Tickets or Villain Tickets, smart people can come up with better names). That way a player can get xp & tickets doing normal missions (no bonus for mission completion though, keep the xp bonus) and not clog up MA with farm missions. And if a player wants purple drops, they opt-out of the tickets and go back to getting random drops. That way farmers can go back to their favorite farm mission and still get xp and tickets and maybe be less likely to look for the next MA exploit.
I know if I could control my regular mission rewards the way I do with AE tickets I'd never set foot in the AE buildings again. I've done a number of dev's choice and guest author arcs and really only been impressed with one or two of them, and that was because I read the guest author's online comic on a daily basis. No offense to you story tellers out there, I don't get a whole lot out of the regular missions either.
It's probably a dumb idea but it's been rattling around in my noodle since yesterday and I had to set it free. -
Anyone care to comment on using 5 Doctored Wounds and the Dark Watcher's proc in RttC? This is how I have it slotted in my 49 BS/WP. I'm not sure how to tell if the proc is actually doing anything for me or not. I'm sure it's cheaper than the full Numina set however.

I'm a bit concerned about the 50 player limit.
I'm mostly a solo player and I enjoyed the Hamidon encounter as it was because I could join in and contribute...as either my Blaster or Empath. I didn't go AFK either, I was at the keyboard for the whole thing. If I got an invite, I'd join a team, but I didn't have to be on a team to contribute.
With the new player limit, I can see going to whatever zone has an opening and seeing broadcasts or getting tells asking me to leave because I'm not part of XYZ SG that is trying to do an SG only raid. I guess in this case I'd be labeled a leecher? Or a griefer?
I'll try it a few times to see what it's like before giving up on it though. -
I ran the Founder's Fall Safeguard with my 44 MA/Inv Scrapper and bugged it.
Went straight to bank and finished it. Went to where the vandals were and cleared them...twice...got 2 side missions. Did the Arson mission and then headed to the Jail to stop the breakout. Completed that and when I exited the jail...I fell through the map and couldn't complete any more side missions. I had 18 minutes left.
So a waring...do the jail as the very last thing on the FF mission if you want to do all the side missions. -
I tried this event like I tried the 2 events in beta for CoV. My results were similiar for all 3 events. My initial frustration lead to a desire to do better and I kept trying and eventually had some good fun. I think there are some issues to address, and the play on live will be diferent than this event, but I don't believe the constant mezzing of squishies or the overly powerful signature hero/villains are game breaking, or will be addressed by the devs in some way.
But for me it comes down to a decision to play PvP with little to no reward for me versus doing PvE missions and getting xp, new lvls, new powers.
So, while I liked the RV zone, I'll only go there on live to get exploration badges, if any, or to do some PvP with a 50 once in a while.
I do think PvP is a good addition to the game because it gives a player options. At higher lvls grinding can get boring and it's good to have options. For me, I'll play alts instead of doing PvP, but the changes made for PvP that effect PvE haven't changed my play experience, which is usually small groups or solo.
One last comment, which probably isn't appropriate for this thread, but I'm making it anyway. I've been around since CoH beta and my belief has been that I should be able to experience everything the game has to offer. I typically play in small groups or solo and saw a lot of changes being geared to larger groups, which annoyed me and made me think the game was being designed for other people and was shutting me out. I thought I should be able to do everything as a solo or small team player. My brief flirt with WoW showed me that even though a game has a lot of opportunities for fun and challenge, I have to decide if it's something I want to invest my time in. And if I choose not to do something, I have to accept that I won't get to see that content or get the goodies associated with it. In CoH/CoV I want to have all the story arcs, all the TFs completed, all the badges, all the cool temp powers, yada, yada, yada. Now, I'm ok with knowing that if I want to, I can, but more than likely there will be goodies I wont get, but that's my choice to skip them.
So, good job devs on the RV zone...I think it's a good add to the game.

Ballista is a Toggle Dropping *******!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, he is. He was designed to be as close to a Player Hero as we could make him. How do you guys like the Toggle Drop on him? Is it too nasty or does it add a nice challenge?
[/ QUOTE ]
That mission is challenging, no question about that. Fun? Not for me.
I took that mission and tried to solo it on my EM/EA Stalker at 24...I'd faced 5 other Elite Bosses and did ok with some hit and run tactics.
I hit BU and used Assassin's Strike and noticed I barely did any damage. I was about to Super Speed out of there when my toggles dropped and I was stunned. By the time I popped a Break Free and turned on my Kinetic Shield I was dead. Hit the Hospital button and rezed on the beach in the mission rather than the Hospital. I logged out, frustrated that all my current missions required a team.
To make a long story short, no I didn't like it. I like my Stalker and I like doing the story arcs but it seems many of them have Elite Bosses and Heros and my team making/leading skills suck (plus I'm impatient and would rather play than send 10-15 tells trying to make a team), so I'm finding CoV less and less to my liking. This frustration is compounded by how easy I'm finding it to out level contacts and miss out on badge missions. Newspaper missions are cool for a while but they are so repetitive.
