I can't decide which is more suprising... The fact that my lag issue appears to be fixed (after suffering since the first day of double xp weekend) or the fact that no one claimed the name Dr. Lagmore on Liberty. The change for me has been dramatic. I went from 4,602 lost packets during my last 45 minute session on Liberty to 6 lost packets over the same time period tonight. Liberty ping times have also returned to normal so... account reactivated!
LOCATION: Seattle, WA
ISP Provider: Comcast Business
Server: Liberty
Problem: Resolved?
Thank you to all of the people working on this issue both on the forums and behind the scenes.
PS. Thanks for the e-mail Steele. We can haz teaming nao?
PPS. You apparently lose access to your forum account if your game account gets deactivated. Bad forum integration, no biscuit. -
Quote:Comcast runs through the peering ISP mentioned above. They actually route through a different router for west coast servers on the same ISP and it doesn't seem to be having the same problems. Is this point that customer service posted about belong to Comcast by chance? Or does Comcast run thru that point?
I'm on a Comcast business connection and am not having any other connectivity problems currently. There is a rumor that Comcast has recently started "traffic shaping" (read: randomly dropping packets) to throttle a new torrent app that is designed to use UDP connections instead of TCP. Since the CoX game server connections are primarily UDP (as are many other games), I can't help but wonder if there may be some correlation between the start of my lag (the first day of double-xp weekend) and the peering problems with the CoX upstream ISP. The fact that this problem does not occur vs. west coast servers seems to discount this possibility though. If traffic shaping were occurring, it would be global for both sets of servers.
I can understand the Technical Support reps feeling powerless to resolve the problem; they probably dont have any direct influence with the ISP. However, the fact that the problem is occurring with a peering ISP means that Paragon/NCsoft has more influence as a hosted customer than we do. Hey Paragon, if you had me working for you I could have resolved this for you in a few days.
I would post the obligatory FIX TEH SERVER OR TEH CANCELS!!, but I cancelled my sub earlier this week. I mention this not as a threat, but patiently waiting for more than a month just isnt acceptable to me in a pay-to-play environment. Ive been with CoX since the original closed beta and am going to miss it I was really having fun again with some new power combos, but I dont have any desire to pay more money to transfer my Liberty investments over a problem I did not create and have no control over. If the problem gets fixed, I might just come back. Until then, Ill just keep watching and waiting. -
Gah! The game and the new forums do not like me...
I won't be able to attend the event on the 19th (travel to Canada for business, eh?), but I may put together a run for the 22nd or 29th if there is interest and the run on the 19th goes well. Please come out on the 19th to give Lurker support! -
I miss Vaxy too, but I think Valor and Steele have been doing a GREAT JOB! I made almost 400 merits on tonights run... w00t!
See you all again on Monday! -
Thanks to Valor and Steele for leading another great run last night. We filled the zone! I was surprised by the turnout given the popularity of AE content, but it was fun as always!
Now if I can figure out a way to keep my usually reliable Internet connection from dropping in the middle of the raid, that would be good... -

I want to thank everyone for supporting the MS raid Last night, Sorry for the one day turnaround but I had only saw the request on Saturday afternoon. Glad we had an awesome turn out.

Thanks Valor, Vaxy, and all for a great run on Sunday. I lost count of the merits once our team pulled in over 500. The extra bubbler (whoever you are, you are awesome) allowed us to cap defense for almost everyone, so it made it a relatively safe run.
The weekends seem to bring out a good crowd. Any chance we can schedule another run for next weekend? I'm still 300 short of grabbing the last goodies for my favorite MM at the moment. -
No offense intended!
Steele, do either of those times and dates sound good to you? I can help run the event if needed, but I just don't have any tanks capable of taunting teh pylonz. -
Vax or Valor,
Would 4/18 or 4/19 @ 9 EDT work for either of you? -
I'm leaving work early so I can attend this one... yes, MSR raids are that important.
