Once again thanks alot guys. This is alot of good info. Before I really didn't know where i stood defensively. Now I have a clear picture. Now I can clearly see what set bonuses are more geared towards what I am trying to do.
-
Thanks for all the info again. Now I have a clear picture of the whole defense scheme of things. I also now know that my /SR scrapper at this current point in time (LVL 50) has room for improvements.
Also, when I view the power details, this does not include the set bonuses correct? I could be wrong. -
I think this might be what I was looking for. Not sure of the numbers hold true still:
http://techconnx.net/defcalc/
When you go to the calculator of you powersets then it gives you the base value of each. Which is what I was looking for. Do you know if these values are still accurate? -
Quote:Alright, so here is my even more n00b-ier question of the day:You're at the soft cap once your defense is at 45%. At least SR scrappers can achieve this without set bonuses if they're using Elude.
How do I know when I reached the softcap? I know when i hover over each of the enhancements that I have set in place there is a percentage value, but of course that not the percentage of total defense. It's just a specific percentage increase. Does each defense power give you base 5 percent defense or something? The base percentage numbers are what I am missing. so if I have 5 powers that have 5 percent base (just an example) then if I get all the DEFENSE powers in a set and don't even trick them out with enhancements then I'd have a total of 25 percent defense right? I'd basically have to get the pen and paper out and calculate it since CoX doesn't have a character stat window. Or does it?
I hope I'm not pissing you guys off and setting myself up for a flamage. I just gotta ask and be sure. I'm positive that there are other people out there wanting to know the same thing, but may be just to afraid to ask. LOL! -
Hey thanks again for the info. I have a question. Probably a newb sounding dumb one. In the power quantification list for defense is the Acc considered it's default value? I ask so when I do use the hero planner I can see at what point I have reached the softcap. Is it generally safe to say that no one scrapper toon reaches the defense softcap without set bonuses? I'm still a little confused as to what my base numbers for defense sets are. Damn I must sound really n00b but I'm really trying to get a firm grasp of the system. This to me is the most important aspect of the game.
-
I also have another question. It may be in the readings suggested above, but I didn't see it. Is there a guide to scrapper secondary powerset numbers? I don't know if different set have different defense percentage numbers. I want to be able to put the knowledge about defense and numbers together. One of the guides above uses super reflexes as an example which is purely defense and not resistance so it's easier to calculate a characters defense numbers I guess as opposed to lets say an invuln secondary which is some resistance as well or a regen with is bonkers with just regen. You get what I'm asking?
-
Thanks for the info guys. Now I can see about making my toons ultra survivable
-
Hello gang. I looked around the internet and tried to find a detailed Defense guide. I want to softcap my characters defense. I also don't know all the percentages that I should be focused on. Please help me better understand the defense system and how to optimize my survivability.
-
Ah thanks for the info. I am really trying to get a great deal of Vanguard merits. I can't stand how blatantly bland they continue to make Katana and Dual Blades.

/e smile's and say "hey rook"
I did watch heroes. It looks like a good start to the season. Hope it doesn't fizzle in and out like the previous seasons. Peter is really starting to impress me. Before he was a punk. he seems like he is really embracing his power(s) -
Hey guys. I just came back to the CoH world like about a month ago. Are there still the schedule Rikti raid days? If I recall correctly there were held on Tuesday evening. Can someone help me out?
-
I usually ramp up the difficulty on console game to begin with. One game I cannot do that with is The Ninja Gaidens. Even on Nintendo they were hard. I bought Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3.....I "accidentally" broke my controller because I was so furious! LOL! All in all it was still fun. Especially when I eventually beat it....on normal. LOL!
-
In Brickstown there are a few bugs. Like there is a mish that ends up telling you to go to the AE at the front desk.
Also at a "stop the jewelry heist" mish my team defeated all the enemies in the bank and freed all the hostages 3 times and there is no mish completion. We kept searching for a straggling enemy, but no finds.
I petitioned both of these. Said it could take MONTHS for a fix.....geez. -
I agree with the bayou billy. I also found ALL of the Ninja Gaiden's to be hard. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pissed me off. Alot of Konami games were hard without "the code" if you know what I mean. Legendary Wings....I almost ripped my eyeballs out!!!!
-
Arrrrr matey. Thee Iron Man movie be a good watch at this point in time with thar Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 dropping. Good action packed game no? But this CoX thing has still got this pirate swabbing the poop deck. We need to raid another ship for thar booty. ARRRGGH!

I was excited to see i16 finally drop. And I still am happy, but there are a few comments/questions I'd like to throw out there.
If people aren't in ICON redo-ing there power colors then where are they? I've been trying to team in everyone of the more popular city areas and I'm having a hard time getting a squad together. This may be due to the fact that people can no solo big mobs by themselves. Massive farming if you have the right builds ya know. So uh....should I be more Taskforce/strike force driven?
Maybe it's going to take some time to set in with me, but the color change thing seems to be a little ridiculous at the moment. I mean, crazy color schemes out there. It almost seems like a Lucky Charms or Trix commercial on Crystal Meth or something. HAHA. Yes, I changed my toons power colors as well. Just seems weird when you have a mish and the colors are all mashed up together. But at least I can now tell which toon is doing what for the most part.
Now the the AE farming has died, what would you guys recommend a person do to get his funding up for them tasty IO set bonuses? The basics of course are buy low, sell high, and be patient of course. Has there been any new revelations to a legit and not so fad-ish INF build up?
Is the state of the consignment stores supposed to change now that i16 is here? Is it one of those things that is supposed to take time to be more affordable these days due to the fact that AE farming is dead and ppl don't feel like doing those AE mishes anymore for the massive INF or AE tickets? I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to get a clearer picture of what I should expect if anything.
Do you think that the new powersets might be some of the cause of there being a lack of higher level teams? Ya know, people doing new elec and rad builds and all that yummy stuff.
What are you new comments on i16? I do have faith that this issue will probably be on of the best issues to every drop. -
Quote:See, this is why people sometimes are reluctant to post, because you automatically say someone is whining. regardless if you wait the prices are still jacked up. I know what a consignment store is. My point is at this current moment in CoH time, prices are seriously high. When you have 600 available items and 500 people bidding on it and the last 5 buys for spell ink is 100,000 inf....something is wrong.I always lol when I see this.
People should stop treating the WW/BM as a store and instead start treating it as a consignment house where you bid on stuff and might have to wait. Skipping the waiting part will cost you. If you're impatient don't come here and whine, ok?
And as to your location problems; you have to go to a store to buy SOs so going to a place to buy IOs is logical. There are a couple of places where the Buy > Craft > Sell/Slot chain can be done fast. One is Talos WW > Base Portal and the other is Steel WW > University. In both cases it takes approx 5 seconds to travel from the WW to the crafting place if you have a travel power. You could also get the crafting accolade to get a portable workbench... -
Quote:The WW interface at the SG base would be a nice addition. And I knew about the portable table, but isnt that thing time consuming to get? You don't see many of those around. We have to go to the Market because that's the way it was set up. In the real world when you want to buy something (especially if you want to buy it NAO) you have to go to a store that has what you want. Game designers that want to make the game seem more real and therefor more immersive do this.
One thing that would be nice is having a market interface available inside your SG bases. You could at least check on or place bids while heading to your next mission and that would be good.
As far as a crafting table where ever you want? Wish granted. You can earn a portable crafting table by getting the field crafter badge.
Prices too high? Start selling instead of buying. When prices drop then buy. You'll have all the stuff you wanted and a pile of influence to roll around in too. Just be patient. -
Quote:I agree, the drop rates have seen to be going down. Thus the reason I am always at the market trying to buy the common salvages for 100,000 inf these days. While it's an inconvenience to have to run back and forth to craft, I think most of the problem is "rare" common salvage.
I may just be paranoid, but it seems like some common salvage drop rates are way down.
Luck Charm for example. Say I had a bunch of tickets to spend in AE and I just spammed the "random arcane" button in the bracket that has Luck Charms. I'll maybe get 1 or 2 after spamming the button 20+ times. I'll get stacks of others that are 5 or 6.
I kind of think the salvage used compared to the most popular crafted IO's needs a pass. -
it's a game, the dev's could make teleporting IOs happen. I guess it has to be realistic though, like flying people, monsters, super speed, fire manipulators and all that. Your response isn't valid. Maybe you should reply when you have something that makes more sense. Not total sense, just more sense than what you just stated.
-
Hey guys. This might be a little vent-ish. I also might even get teh Flame. Do you guys feel like this?
Why do we actually have to GO TO a market to buy the recipe pieces and why do we then have to GO TO a University or a SG base to actually make the enhancements? Why wasn't there just a system where I can type /ww for the wentworth interface or /InvTab for an invention table or something? I get annoyed by going back and forth in steel canyon to get my toons revamped.
And then the market idea is starting to annoy me. Though it can be a lucrative business, the market is horrible right now. Cost way too much to buy goodies there. And it could be little simple common salvage.
I'm trying to figure out if I am missing something and making this thing harder than it really is. I have a few 50s and numerous alts. but today finally annoyed me. After all these years, I get annoyed today.
Also, to compliment my annoyed state of mind with the University and the Wentworth's being actual location instead of a handy pop up interface where ever I am in the CoX world I hate having restrictions on how many salvage pieces and recipes I can carry.
The loyal CoX-ers may enjoy all of this back and forth from place to place. They may even enjoy the market gouging. SIGH.....sorry guys. Don't flame me up. -
Ok, this sheds a little more light on the subject then. I have a particular toon that is 27 now. I guess I should start. But I want to use the reward rolls to get these IO for teh frankenslotting. I get 27s as of now.
-
I'm trying to get heavy into trickin my toons out with set bonuses. I had this question in mind. Do you guys buy/earn the recipes at a low lvl or do you trick your toon out when it's about to hit 50? I'm wondering if me piling up on these recipes at lvl 27 would be beneficial enough for me to get what I can now as I rank this toon up the normal way...doing arcs and stuff. No farming. Do you get what I am saying?
-
I have the same AT sitting at 44 right now. I don't like it as much as i thought I would. Then again I haven't AV solo-ed with it either. I'm bringing up a DM/SD and he seems more fun to play with. AGAIN, I haven't AV solo-ed with him. I die more with FM/SD and the aid self animation time sucks. I've been interrupted alot. Slotting the IO's for decreased activation time helps, but not by much when you look at the numbers. aid self worked more with an /SR build because the toon could evade the hits instead of just taking the blow.
-
Hey Werner and Bill, I haven't been on the forums much, but I didn't know you guys were like legends in CoH. I checked out some of your solo-ing vids on youtube....you guys KILL IT! Those builds must be very expensive. That claws/SR of yours Bill is a beast. With the market being in the shabby state that it is i can't really AFFORD to build up a beast. I have to rely on AE tickets. Hoping for good drops on the bronze roll. I want to solo my DM/SR. I'm new to solo-ing. I normally play teams. With this new difficulty system I can really "test my might"
