Now, don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't understand their problem. I mean, there you are, you already own everything you can imagine yourself wanting, you've filled up your vault space with salvage you hope is going to hold its value, you don't run your own SG so you can't put in enhancement and salvage stores that nobody else can access, if you walk around carrying your limit of salvage or recipes you can't get more, and you're running out of slots in the consignment house to buy and sell your goods. What are you supposed to do? You can only practically put about one billion influence per consignment house slot in legitimate bids, so if you've got 18 slots you can only raise the 2 billion influence cap to 20 billion. That's just not enough! It IS theoretically possible that something might come out tomorrow that's going to be marketing for 21 billion.

    Couldn't possibly care less.

That, Sharker, is actually what I find annoying. I've already level restricted it, only looking for items either for sale or on bid, and I'm still seeing garbage entries.

Kelenar, I believe I have heard previously that there is an influence cap, and you may be right. People may be storing influence in nonsense bids to bypass that.

Couldn't care less if they lose it.
  3. Keep in mind he doesn't have power sink yet. And I wouldn't call havoc punch or charged brawl 'plinking'.

Is it possible to have Wentworths and the Black Market not show items that don't exist? If an item has never been issued at a particular level, don't allow people to bid on it at that level, and don't show it to me if they did.
  5. I love the idea, but the devs that write content for the game don't have access to this function so I wouldn't hold my breath.
  6. Oh, I don't know if I'd say that, Luminara. I've been skimming this thread for a while now, and it has indeed been quite painful.
  7. I don't think blasters normally do reach a point where they can solo on rugged without taking an approach that might seem cautious to a veteran tanker. In fact, your experience mirrors my own. All of my tankers past lvl 20 solo on invincible, and my blasters tend to stop at rugged since I am being challenged already, and I am already gaining adequate rewards.

May I ask whether your cautious playstyle involves a tesla cage on very nearly every single lieutenant from the moment you enter the door, melting down the minions in rapid succession then dealing with the slightly more stubborn officer in charge? It's not flamboyant, but it's extremely effective, particularly assuming you're combining both ranged blasts and melee attacks. I'm afraid I do NOT have experience with this playstyle as a lvl 28 blaster, since I refused to take the melee powers when I was coming up. I respec'd into them later, and have tried missions at that level as an exemped 50, but on my way through the ranks I was trying to make elec/elec a ranged blaster, and it's weak in that capacity.

Even at lvl 50, with both short circuit and power sink and both sufficiently slotted for end drain, I do not find end drain to be a useful defense when soloing for the reasons you've mentioned above. I can drop most enemies to zero endurance in a matter of seconds, but this is only after I've closed with them and then endured their melee attacks while I'm spinning the two attack combo. I still need to kill them fairly quickly after that, as mobs with no way to attack don't always stay conveniently clumped so that I can short circuit again. I may not be dead, but I'm certainly going to be recovering for a bit before I want to try that same approach with the next spawn. Now, once you have both short circuit and power sink this combination is absolutely devastating on teams when you can perhaps move in close in your tanker's shadow.

One thing I think you should pay attention to, though, is speed. Honestly I think you may be chafing against the blaster's cautious playstyle, when you may be finishing missions faster than your tanker despite this caution. Granted, you have by reputation one of the strongest damage dealing tanker secondaries, but electric manipulation is not exactly weaksauce either.
  8. Is it just my imagination or are more players expert on the fashioning of costumes in this game, than any other aspect of play?
  9. Hoods are not my specialty, but to the best of my knowledge they are always part of the selection you make for your character's head, and not the back/shoulder. High collars might belong to the back/shoulder slot, though, so it's possible you would need to combine the right pieces to get the look you want. It is also possible that you can't get that look. (Yet. There's a costume request thread if you find out what you want isn't currently offered.)
  10. You could put forth two assertions.

    1) Full Auto is inferior to Rain of Arrows.
    2) Assault Rifle is inferior to Archery.

Personally, I don't have an opinion on either point, but from a standpoint of the amount of information required it would be far easier to argue the first point. However, it's irrelevant unless the second is true.
  11. It's got a target cap of 10 because cones have target caps of 10.
  12. I find myself in more situations where I'm picking between force bubble and force bolt, than between force bubble and dispersion. Dispersion is pretty much always on.

Also, I was surprised to note they aren't kidding when they say only affecting self on rest or personal force field. Dispersion bubble may still be running, but it no longer benefits your team.
  13. You phrased this wrong, by the way. I fixed it for you.
  14. You should be comparing the powersets that include consume and related powers to powersets that include powersink, rather than directly comparing the powers.
  15. Healers aren't necessary, but when someone in a forum designed for exchange of information about the game incorrectly states that healers are critical in the game's most difficult content, pointing out the mistake is the sign of a snob? I'm not sure I follow your reasoning.
  16. You're even wrong on the task forces. They've been done with no defenders or controllers at all; quite clearly that would mean no FF, but it also means none of the other healing sets, OR buff/debuff sets.
  17. Bio, take it from my FF defender. You are flat out wrong. With the exception of psy attacks that bypass force-fields entirely, the number of times anybody on my team takes more damage than they can sustain without an outside heal/regen buff do not warrant a power selection.
  18. Sorry to hear this, Missy. You and your family will be in my thoughts until we see you again.
  19. The most common misuse of the word "healer" can be found in the statement so often repeated in team chat: "We need a healer."
  20. Oh. Umm, sorry for the thread-jack. And yes, I've hit that same bug and now you have me trying to remember if it's come up on the missions I reverse sort, or if it's mostly been when I go for keywords.
  21. Actually, I have a couple characters without travel powers and I never expect people to wait around. On the other hand, both have swift, hurdle and sprint slotted, so neither is a huge drag on team speed if they do decide to wait, and as a totally useless side-effect I'm actually faster than most of my team-mates on mission maps. I keep in mind I am slower on overland maps than most of my team-mates, so I don't sell or train while on teams, and am rarely the last one to the door. For task forces or other occasions that are going to involve a lot of long-distance jogging, I still have both zero G and raptor packs.

Hey, Pepsi, keep the fizz, and we'll see you when you're up for a return visit.
  23. "Something else does bother me a bit about this theory, though, and that is there seem to be a significant number of players trying to run unrated arcs."

Well, yes. Me, for one. My normal sort is by reverse date order on anything I haven't run, with short and very short arcs filtered out. I try to run arcs that haven't been rated yet, on the theory the author probably wouldn't mind having some feedback.

And, no, they don't always get feedback. Quite a few of them not only haven't been rated, they haven't even been finished by their authors. If it's actually a finished arc the author almost always gets my bug report, along with appropriate congratulations for their efforts.
  24. One of the reasons I have difficulty exemping with my elec^3 is that I dropped stamina from the build. If I drop below power sink, I suffer for it. Power sink and later, I cruise.
