Quote:Nope. The Television is Matt Stults who's been working here a while and was promoted to lead programmer.Going back to the OP, have we seen any of these new hires pop up? Is the new CM The Television, for instance?
The new community moderator is Arbiter Kim.
The new content designer is Dr. Aeon, mentioned above.
One of the new producers is Doc Delilah who only has one post so far.
And that's it for new-hire rednames. -
Spelled correctly in grid:
SENTRY
RAVER
TRACER
WARDEN
ROMAN
ACE
OUTLAW
Not spelled correctly and no correct version:
Chief
Gotta go. I'm done. -
Do you want to check your 'i' before 'e' rules and the exceptions and get back to us whether there really is 10 badges there?
-
There are purposeful misspellings, it was one of my suggestions.
However, finding a misspelling is a clue... the correctly spelled one is in there somewhere.
I've only found five so far.... -

You might want to ask which team mates actually need it. Some Tankers and Scrappers will probably tell you they don't need it, so, you can skip them.

As I mentioned in the OP, they hired Dr. Aeon to precisely do that. And he was a player active here on the forums. See here:Quote:Is that even a position?

"Position available: Write me a good story"
We need a who dunnit on this game!!!!
paragonwiki.com/wiki/Dr. Aeon (Developer)
And that's also the job of War Witch and Hero 1.
Also they have two other writers designated 'World Designer' and that's John Hegner and Paul Gunn. At HeroCon, John was on the panel describing Praetoria.
And there's two others designated 'designer' but I'm not sure what they do... could be writing or powers or world...
And Matt's writing and designing 'end game' content.
See here for the list of known employees. -
The Wiki is confused over the NPC that you save in the second mission of the Sister Psyche TF.
I know that the last SPTF I did, the NPC was Norris. But I think I remember a Brent.
I'm beginning to suspect rather than the NPC changing from one to another at some point in time, that there's probably two that belong to this faction (Scientist) and it's random which one you get for the Task Force.
Since I'm sure that it was Norris today, could you all keep an eye out to see if Brent pops up? If he doesn't, then it's definitely Norris and I'll update the Wiki accordingly.
Thanks. -
Here is the list of job openings at Paragon Studios:
Notice the listing for Lead Concept Artist. That's new. So, I checked out the personal websites of the current Concept Artists and saw that Nate Van Dy.ke (N8) says he *used to* work on CoH. So, I guess that job listing means that they're replacing him. (And that says something about the health of the studio if they're looking to replace rather than shrink staff -- they have two other Concept Artists: Carotello and David Nakayama.)
Also, alas, poor Horatio is no longer working for CoH. Bruce Harlick has moved to Zynga, the company that makes those evil time-sink social games for Facebook (e.g., Farmsville). That's probably why they hired Sean "Dr. Aeon" McCann (formerly Fearghas).
Also, Ron Freidman, one of the Art Animators is no longer with CoH, which probably means nothing to players since he didn't have a redname. But they did hire two new animators within the past few months. BAB has three minions now. I think that makes him level 12.
In the past 7 months, the following job listing were removed from their site, which, I assume means new hires:
Wanted: Art (2D/UI)
Wanted: Art (Character Artist)
Wanted: Art (Environment Artist)
Wanted: Design (Associate Designer)
Wanted: Design (Mission Designer)
Wanted: Design (Powers Designer)
Wanted: Production (Associate Producer)
Wanted: Production (Senior Producer)
Wanted: Production (Moderator/Community)
Wanted: Production (Online Community Mgr)
Wanted: Production (Senior QA Tester)
Wanted: Programming (Game Engineer)
Wanted: Programming (Graphics)
Wanted: Programming (Tools Engineer)
Wanted: Production (Windows PC Tech I) -

Quote:Who would that be? Because from what I can see, this is the easiest to get into "closed" beta that they've ever done. Hell you'd almost have to work at it to NOT be invited. Amirite?Quote:GR is supposed to be like this:
Beta waves:
* Friends & Family
* Hero Con attendees
* 5 year veterans
* Loyalty Program participants
* People who pre-order Going RogueQuote:I think the vets should go before the Hero Con attendees. Just saying.In the last Closed Beta, the Friends and Family phase lasted half a day before they started inviting the first wave of hand-picked veteran play-testers. There were four more waves just that week.Quote:There's usually a Friends & Family phase during EVERY game's development. It's kinda like the transition between alpha and beta testing; the devs need a larger testing pool than just themselves, but aren't yet ready to invite total strangers to come help test their still-very-unfinished product. So yes, there will be a F&F phase for Going Rogue. In fact, Positron DID mention it at the end of the GR preview at HeroCon when talking about their tentative dates for GR's beta and release.
The purpose of waves is to not overwhelm the fragile set-up on the servers where none of the code has been optimized yet. Also, the Devs learned the hard way that when you let in a lot of people all at once, they all do the same thing and they all send in the same bug reports overwhelming Q&A's ability to sort through them. Not to mention the overwhelming of the global testing channel and the swarming of the Dev appearances.
They keep the initial numbers small so that all the broken stuff is identified, reported, and made known. This first group gets their hands held by the Devs ("Yes, we know that's broken." or "That's odd, let me pop into your mission and see it."). The following waves get their hands held by the previous waves ("Yes, the devs know about that.").
This is probably why HeroCon attendees get in before 5 month Vets since they're a smaller pool.
If anyone's longing to be one of the first in, let me remind you that the early days of the CoV beta were UNPLAYABLE. Only a handful of missions were playable and the disconnects and rubber-banding lag was constant. There were several times I just stopped trying to test the CoV beta until the next patch came out.
Anyone who gets into Beta early and whines about anything broken is going to be ridiculed and told to get out by me and many of the other regular beta testers. You don't belong there if you're just looking to play or get a sneak peak. Wait for Open Beta for that. Paragon Studios does *not* use Closed Beta as a marketing tool -- it's work. -
Quote:Nope, the radius of affect is 30 feet.I suspect that 25 feet is the radius of the team TP. Meaning anyone within 25 feet of you will get brought along. I believe the actual distance you can teleport is 225 feet or something like that.
I've tested the distance in game and it is indeed 225 ft. -

Quote:CoD is wrong on the range of Team Teleport. It was never 25 ft. But, the in-game 'real numbers' is wrong, too, since it says 25 ft.CoD is only wrong when it's out of date on something. Tarantula Mistresses haven't been changed since... um... ever, I think?
So, if the in-game real description of Scrambled is wrong, then CoD will be wrong.
Of course, the easiest way to test this is with a toon that is much higher in level than the Tarantula. If Scrambled doesn't miss that toon, then the Ranged component is missing for that power. -
Quote:Y'all is used by people who can't understand whether 'you' is being used plurally or singularly by context. There might be a few exceptional cases where the 'all' prevents confusion.Y'all is southern (lots of planets have a south) and is actually more grammatically correct than some teachers might want you to think. It's an abbreviated form of 'you all' and is properly used when you're talking to a group. Any time you hear someone use y'all to refer to one person, you can tell immediately that they're a northern poseur.
You got it right, so you get to claim honorary suthiner status.
And if you're going to be a Southern apologist, then explain the correctness of "all y'all."
