  1. Not VERSION 2.... don't think "remake", think SEQUEL... like Nightmare on Elm Street part 2.... wait... don't think of that sequel....

...like Godfather II. Yeah, like that.

Giving them a discount on CoH1 does not mean that they'll want to play it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I said they'd get CoH1 for FREE, read again. That being said, point taken. Perhaps we can also allow for people to CREATE level 50s from the start. And considering that characters in my proposed CoH2 could NOT be ported backwards to CoH1, I think that would resolve the issues that you have with it. What do you think, do you think that allowing people to create "new" level 50s in CoH2 would fix your main "problem" with the idea? Then people could still choose to port their favorite characters over, and they could make new ones too.
  3. Most forumites would probably not have that many 50s because they spend more time on the forums than they actually do in-game. I know I sure do.

But I'll bet if the devs used their datamining to determine the number of 50s out there, the average per player would probably be more than 1. I'd suspect in the 2-4 range. And that's including casual players.

    "And a brand! New! CAR!"

Honestly, I read your post in the voice of Bob Barker from The Price is Right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I LOLed.
  5. Maybe your character evolves into new archetypes like how Pokemon evolve. Maybe we can take CoH2 and use that to "transform" people into the famous Incarnates over time?

I understand that.... but how can he be at his strongest, if he can now attain level 100? Wouldn't that be the strongest?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
What, then, is there left to take upon levelling up?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good questions. Any suggestions for this "new leveling system"? Perhaps some sort of skill system where your current powers either grow more powerful or can do different types of effects. Like maybe a Jab transforms into a Street Fighter style Dragon Punch, maybe something like that.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
So basically you just want CoH2 to be CoH1.5, not a new game, just an expansion of the current game.

This is just a very thinly veiled level cap increase request.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it would be a new game, with new base code, and the devs could get everything "right" that they didn't get right the first time, maybe including in code for all the things they wish they could have done with CoH1 but couldn't because they adopted a pre-existing code base.

They also wouldn't have to follow the leveling structure that we follow in CoH1. Perhaps instead of getting new powers and slots every level, something ELSE happens to improve your character. I can't think of what that might be right now, but it would be a chance to escape from the current leveling system to try something different with the game.

But then you HAVE to own CoH, in order to play CoH2. Anyone interested in playing the sequel would be required to pay for the original.

I don't know about you, but if I were a new player, I wouldn't want to buy a game, level a 50 buy a second game, and level a 100. You'd effectively have to be keeping both accounts active in order to create more 50's for game 2.

    Bad idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Read above.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Well, he'll no longer be at his strongest, if Level 50 is now Level 1.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He'll still be level 50, and he'll still have all of his original powers and slots.
  10. Maybe give people currently subscribed to CoH1 a 50% discount on CoH2, and then give anyone that buys CoH2 a FREE code for CoH1 as well. I think that would work.

For the new player, they get two games for the price of 1, for the vet, they get 50 more levels for just $25! That's just the cost of a month and a half subscription!
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Make a CoH2 that allows you to port characters sure, but allow players to start normal too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's so ridiculously EASY to get a character to level 50 in a short time these days, that I really don't see this as an issue any more.
  12. Let me elaborate on the purpose just a little bit more. This would essentially make CoH1 the "origin story" for your character, where you get to see where he came from, how he learned his powers and skills, and what battles he fought early in his career. CoH2 then would be a continuation of that, but would show the hero during his "peak years", when he's at his strongest, constantly fighting new more deadly enemies and taking on threats to the entire multiverse.
  13. Inspired by this thread, here is my idea.

I say that the devs start working on CoH2, and the ENTIRE game will be the "end game".You can ONLY start a new character in CoH2 by permanently transporting a level 50 character over to it. Your character steps through a Portal Corp portal and ends up in a parallel Earth, an Earth that is meaner, tougher, and darker. In CoH2 Level 50 becomes the new level 1 in essence but not in fact. You keep all of your powers/slots, but now the game goes from level 50 to level 100. Your character can never be transported back to CoH1, which protects the balance of the low level game.

50 more levels of content, yay! Story continuation yay! People get to see the "level cap" raised, but in a different way than they would expect. And the whole game would feel "epic".
  14. Oh you got me! I was just going to tell you to press and hold down "W".

Huh, I always thought that Sunstorm was ORANGE and yellow... well, it always looked like orange to me.

Maybe I need to get my eyes checked.

    Ask Agent Ruby:
Who is your greatest nemesis? The Static Charger, Major Meltdown, Operative Overclock, or perhaps the Diabolical Dust Bunny?

None of the above: it's Optico! Watch this...

Remind me to never piss off Ruby...

  22. I love how she didn't touch the NVIDIA questions, either of them... heh.
  23. Ask Agent Ruby: Whoah, partnership with AMD? Does that mean that NVIDIA support will slowly disappear and you will only be able to play the game in the future with an ATI card?
