Mega congratulations to the winners! You all did fantastic work.
I'm very proud to have competed in this contest, and if the devs don't do this again someday they're crazy. -

sounds interesting and would love to do it, but I simply don't have the time to meet-up in game like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's understandable, but the kind of commitment I'm looking for doesn't require anyone to "meet up" anywhere. All I need are people who want to help me populate this story arc with their characters, take some screenshots on your own time (of conversations with NPC's, combat, travel, ext.) and email them to me at CoxComicTeam@gmail.com.
Anyone interested in helping to develop the story itself should also use the above email.
To give you guys an idea of just how big the scope is of what this project is trying to accomplish, here's a teaser shot that is currently being used as the last page of Flame of Freedom #1:
"The Day the Flame Went Out"
Cheers. -
Hey guys! My name is Andrew and I'm looking for people who are interested in forming a team who have some decent PhotoShop skills, love telling stories, and wouldn't mind spending a good chunk of their in-game time planning and creating a "living" CoH/V comic line. Two comic lines, actually; Weapon of War is the villain-side title and Flame of Freedom is the hero-side title. Both are centered around their respective title character, with lots of room for anyone interested in joining the fun!
A storyline is being planned that will span five issues, each issue alternating between the hero/villain titles. Without going into too many details (or spoilers), I can tell you that if this gets pulled off, Paragon City will literally never be the same. The story is fittingly epic, and will take a lot more than my marginal editing skills to accomplish. Server loyalties don't matter; the idea for this comic was inspired by the recent Comic Book Creator Contest, and since this will be based off of in-game screenshots, the freedom of PhotoShop will allow us to basically do whatever we want, lifting any sort of server restrictions. Your imagination is your only limitation.

So... instead of mourning the death of the Top Cow comics (which does really suck), how about an update on the contest? Pretty please?
-
I'm sure the judges are aware of the issues people had with HyperComics and won't take it out on our work, seeing as how it's no fault of ours that the code is buggy.
I'm still reading through many of the submissions, too. Man, there are SO many good ones!
I thought it worked out perfectly to have the contest end almost right on the 3-year anniversary mark for the game. We should petition to have the CoX team do one of these every year, on the anniversary of the original launch. Seems fitting, no? -

But yes I will say that Fantastic 4 was better then Spiderman 3. When the only redeaming quality of a film is their 3rd string villian (Venom) then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know how you can call Venom a third-string villain when the symbiote plot was introduced earlier on (literally, a scene before) than Sandman. Or how he was the only "villain" in the entire movie who remained, from start to finish, a "villain." Eh, it's all subjective anyway... but worse than Fantastic 4? I'll just agree to disagree.
And I never said I didn't take comic-based movies seriously. I just like to take my eggs with a grain of salt. -
You can't seriously tell me that Fantastic 4 was better than Spiderman 3. Seriously.
Seriously.
I like the scrambled and sunny side up analogy, though. That's actually a pretty good way to look at it. Just keep in mind, for every good Batman movie out there, there's a piece of shite like Batman and Robin to sour DC's good name. They had to restart the franchise for a reason, you know.

But as movies, I find Marvel tends to put out some pretty rank stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't see DC putting up too many barn-burners, either: Comprehensive List of DC Movies ... most of these eggs are so bad they'd give you salmonella. Where's Adam West when you need him?
*Edit: I'm mostly referring to the movies based on popular DC superheros, not the mob-tastic gem that was Road to Perdition. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ya...that's not funny. Since when was quantity better then quality? (granted I thought the new Superman was JUST as bad as the old ones)
[/ QUOTE ]
C'mon man, at the end of the day they're still just comic book movies. We're not talking Oscar-quality acting and award-winning writing... we're talking pecks and spandex. I think you're being a little too critical on the memory of Mr. Reeves.
[ QUOTE ]
Basicly out of 8 movies in the past 8 years Marvel has had 3 good ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's still more GOOD MOVIES than the DC camp has even produced. I'd say Marvel is doing a pretty darn good job, all things considered. -
Spider-Man: Ouch. Are you okay?
Superman: I just miss the Regan years, that's all.
... LOL. -
I was listening to the Hollywood Babble-On show that Lighthouse and Kevin Donovan were on last week, and they mentioned that the office was whittling down entries round robin style with judging comments, or something to that effect. Does that mean we'll be able to read the comments on our entries after the winners are announced?

Damn girl, you're good. The star-streaked one piece on Wonder Woman looks awesome!
Not that the other ones suck or anything. -
Some other good ones to check out:
The Heart of a Butterfly - The fight between Samedhi and the demon is just fantastic as it spills from room to bridge and back again. The story is solid, too; easily the most interesting plot twist of any of the comics I've seen.
Agent Abandon - Lag of a Lifetime - Good layouts and great use of the background frames, not to mention FUNNY! Plus, I think Agent Abandon earned the "Bloodiest Panel" award on page 5. =)
Betrayal & the Beast - This is another one with really cool background frames. Also, I like how well the author tied the main character into the City of Villains cannon with the Ghost Widow rescue, and the Arachnos betrayal subplot was well done. I'm a Villains player, so I'm a tad partial to the darker protagonists, and Ruin Raven walks the line well as an angel of death. -
Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and just wanted to toss out my attempt at the comic contest:

There are a LOT of awesome entries... good luck guys!
