The trick is to grab endurance reduction from the IOs that aren't as much in demand. For example, if you look for Acc/Dam, that's going to be very popular because accuracy is important, and who doesn't want to increase their damage. But other ones from the set can be VERY useful. Look at, for example, Fire Cages. You can slot not only targeted AoE sets, but immobilize too. Dam/End from the targeted AoE will go for less than Acc/Dam. If you choose from an immobilize set, you can add Immob/End or Rech/End. An Immob/End IO will go for much less than an Acc/Dam.

Acc/End is my favourite for early levels, but not every set has them. -

The view point of a brand New CoX player. You don't know anyone so getting inf assistance is unlikely. You don't have a super group. You have no clue how to use the market much less gain inf rather than lose inf through it. You may not have (or want at least until you can run the basic controls well enough not to look like a total n00b) a team and your first impression of the game is the make it break it of whether you enjoy it enough to continue playing past the trial.
When you are a brand new player running out of end continually may be the make it or break it of whether you want to switch from trial to paying.

I understand the point, but this isn't really different than any other game. When you start a new game, you usually don't have a very good idea of what you're doing, and you're not very good at the game. A game without a learning curve would have to be incredibly shallow.
Balancing Endurance in the early levels is a tricky issue. On one hand, yeah- sometimes it can be not very fun. On the other hand, you're supposed to weaker in the early levels and become progessively more powerful and self-sufficient. You're not supposed to be buzzsawing through enemies on your own early on.
It's a tricky balance between not making the early levels too frustrating, and not making them a cakewalk. -
I made a mission for new villains called "Sewer Surprise!" (Arc #83574)
I know there's already a few "villain sewer run" missions out there, but the goal of this one is to sneak into Paragon's sewers and attack a hero group doing their sewer run. I had fun creating a ton of custom heroes so hopefully you won't run into too many doubles. -
Thanks for the feedback, PW!

I thought Citadel's costume looked quite odd, not his normal look at all; it looked like I caught him coming out of the shower or something.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, you kind of did. The Freakshow were looting him for parts, which is why some of his robotics were exposed. -

How awesome would it have been to call my arc "$Name and the Warp Weapon Affair" and have it fill in the observer's current character name? That would be, like, automatic player interest!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I tried to name my first storyarc "$name's Excellent Adventure!"
That would have been most triumphant. -
The new name and site look great! And I'm always happy to keep seeing that Test Server picture because Vox is in it!
-
Air Superiority, for two reasons:
1) Several powersets have an attack using the same animation, so it's repetitive.
2) Slamming your fists downward doesn't fit with the target's backflip reaction.
I'm not sure what the new animation should be, maybe sort of an exaggerated uppercut- something that fits with the backflip effect. -
Here's my new arc, it's been getting some good feedback:
The Freakshow Phalanx
Arc ID: 33843
Length: Long
Morality: Heroic
Description: Why has Paragon City's premiere superteam joined the cyber-anarchist Freaks? Are you up to the challenge of the Freakshow Phalanx??
Now I'm going to make my way through all the arcs in this thread! -
Here's my arc, I'll go play yours now.

I had a level 5 to 10 arc almost finished on test but the Snake Eggs being removed from the MA messed it up.
So either I'll redo it when the Eggs are returned, or think up a new idea, because I do think some low level MA missions are a good idea. -
Not married, so I will also kiss Ace's wife.

My opinion is keep it simple: Tanker Tuesday is the first Tuesday of the month.
I understand the desire to keep the streak running on Champion, but I think the travelling from server-to-server idea sounds like fun and will give a lot more players the opportunity to join in. Champion will always be the home of Tanker Tuesday, even if it's not being held there. -
[ QUOTE ]
Alternatives that are more appropriate are being ignored, even though they could well bring MORE attention to the event than the plaque, because it doesn't match EXACTLY what THEY want.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or people just prefer the original idea to the alternatives suggested in this thread.
Overall this has been a bizarre debate. Some like the idea, some are against it because they feel TT doesn't deserve the attention, others are against because they have another idea that would get it more attention.
The upside is that this thread has stayed on the first page of the Suggestions forum for a couple days now, so it might have caught the eye of one of the development team. Ultimately, it's up to them. -
I think it's a great idea. I'd happily create a new alt to join in on servers where I don't already have a Tank.
-
[ QUOTE ]
But you're one of the few people in this thread supporting this who isn't directly connected to and/or actively participating in TT. Of course, it still sounds like you at least have some bias towards it. *shrug*
[/ QUOTE ]
I participate in it, though only for the last couple years. I had no part in making it a success, though I always liked hearing about it on the Tanker board. I would have supported this idea even if I'd never shown up for one.
Also, it seems like almost everyone in this thread believes the event should be recognized in some way. Heck, LISAR suggested a permanent badge, which I think is a much bigger deal than an out-of-the-way plaque (and it would drive the badge-hunters who missed it crazy!) -
[ QUOTE ]
The plaque isnt a recognition to the organizers, its recognition to the people behind the players that show up on the wall each month. Without them, TT is little more than 4-5 of us.
The plaque gives them the tip o' the hat of thanks for coming out each month. Thanks for making TT what it is. Thanks for being part of something that is certainly much bigger than any of us every thought it would be.
[/ QUOTE ]
I totally agree, and by "the players" I meant both the organizers and those who keep showing up (though you certainly have extra reason to be proud.)
I myself only finally made an alt on Champion to show up a couple years ago, and even then can't always make it, so my point to Ian is that my support of the plaque certainly isn't to pat myself on the back.
I just think it's a great event, and I already know the devs agree. A little plaque at the meeting area would be cool. -

Self-serving? I see it as a tribute to the players who have kept this event going for almost five years, and that's not me. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is like saying "Let's give out the [I Win Button] to five year veterans. There won't be too many of them!" Last time I checked, time did not suddenly freeze.
[/ QUOTE ]
Plaques are in no way comparable to an "I Win Button".
[ QUOTE ]
Also, PantherShade, you continue to miss the point that a plaque in a rarely-visited part of Kings Row is not going to bring almost ANY recognition to TT.
In fact, a good number of people in this thread seem to be double-talking on this point. Either you want the recognition, in which case all of Bill's alternatives would actually bring attention to TT, or instead you just want your collective name on a plaque for the collective ego stroke. As it stands "recognition" and "plaque in Kings Row" are mutually exclusive in my eyes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Re-read the original post. Ace's suggestion isn't to announce the glory of Tanker Tuesday to all other players, in fact he basically asks to hide the plaque. This suggestion to recognize Tanker Tuesday is mostly for those who are interested in its recognition.
If you don't think that's plaque-worthy, that's fine, but I think most of the debate here is simply for argument's sake. -
[ QUOTE ]
Why do there have to be additional plaques?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ask the devs that, they keep adding them. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was going to make another suggestion for an appropriate recognition of this event bu I noted most of mine never made it to the summary lists.

Re-check the lists. -

player-made canon
[/ QUOTE ]Now that's an oxymoron if I've ever seen one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some player-influence on the game world is good for the game. And I think we'll see more with the Mission Architect. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think a plaque would be cool. I'd prefer plaques recognizing player accomplishments like this than plaques talking about generic events they created. It makes the game more 'alive' imo. Plus it's good advertising for a cool event to get players more into the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a good point. Now that the game has been around five years, recognizing more actual events instead of backstory is a good idea. It also instills a feeling of community that helps keep subscribers hanging around longer. -
[ QUOTE ]
What makes this so different and unique that it deserves THIS kind of recognition, as opposed to the devs showing up, titles, etc. as they do with other in game events?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ace already summed that up nicely in the original post.
If you disagree, you disagree. Not much more to be said. -
[ QUOTE ]
So, again - how is it different than the entire Repeat Offenders network, which shows people how to really tap into the power of almost any defender - as well as tanks and other ATs - and does it continually? Sounds like that's even more of a contribution than one AT on one server, once a month.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isn't a competition- you're free to suggest some sort of recognition for the Repeat Offenders, or the Taxibots, or whomever. -
[ QUOTE ]
But what determines that success and whether or not it merits ingame recognition?
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs.
Suggestions are made in the suggestions forum, and the devs (if they see it) decide if they like it or not.
