Hey welcome to the fold. Been playing since day 1 of general release myself (Vis Viva was my first toon). I've been kinda quiet around the boards lately but might have to use the opportunity of the new faces around here to become a bit more active again.

You know you're a lot better looking in person than you are through a telephoto lens.

Crap that applies to forum posting too...better go. -
Female characters are ALWAYS played by female players and male characters are ALWAYS played by male players. There is nothing creepy about trying to get a date with someone based on their characters.

While I agree with your post, your string-of-too-many-words has broken the thread. Please fix.

and broken would be bad?
Fine, the number of carriage returns has been increased. -
Haven't been keeping up with the board comments about the interview but now that I have gotta step in and defend my DJ.
Though I wasn't too disturbed with the overall flow of the interview, nor with the quality of the questions. There has been some valid constructive criticism. Also Jules has addressed some of the reasons behind the delays. Some of the angry negativism, however, is your typical 12-year-old-fan-boy-nerd-wholl-try-to-flame-something-as-
hard-as-he-can-cuz-if-he-calls-something-stupid-it-will-make-
him-look-cool-even-though-hes-a-dweeb-who-will-never-get-
to-2nd-base-with-a-real-girl type of thing...but just some of it. There! Consider my DJs honor defended.
Not saying everybody isn't entitled to their opinions, it's just obvious when someone is being critical only to fill some empty part of their own lives, as opposed to true criticism.
Basically, I've always found interviews handled purely via voice are somewhat different than interviews handled face to face. With face-to-face interviews there are really handy non-verbal cues for good interaction. Voice only interviews seem to go one of two ways. Either it's being done by someone who steps over the interviewee (very common from shock-jocks or other types with large egos) or the interviewer defaults to the interview subject to some degree. When done too much, the latter can sometimes go the way of Thunderfires criticism. Sure it can be limited (and should be). As Thunderfire said, you can Use your questions to control the direction and pacing of the interview but Id still rather see a SLIGHT err on the side of giving your interview subject more room to elaborate than to err on the side of stepping all over them. I believe Jules didnt stray TOO far into the former.
Cya Friday night! -
YES it's a very old post, but based on the upcoming optional in-game ads, I thought I would dig it up and pump a few thousand volts through it's medulla.
Do we see a future a la "Mystery Men" or DC's Booster Gold which would include superhero endorsement in the ads? $1.50 off your next months subscription fee if you let us put a Doritos Logo on your cape!
Doubt I'd ruin my costume, but I think it would be HILARIOUS to see heroes I know and love on billboards hawking Nikes -

I'm going to use emotes on my hotkeys to add visual sounds to my characters manually.
FREEM shall be mine! (and mine alone...)
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually; Sounds like a great SG practice. All members of the SG could have a bind to have a local "Freem" (among others) go out when they use a power! You could call the SG the "Atomic Westerners" in honor of Adam West. -
Only have so long for lunch so this might have already been posted, but I think it would be funny if characters could go the way of Mystery Men or Booster Gold and offer advertising space on their uniforms in exchange for game discounts $1 off on your membership this month if you put a logo for Hot Pockets on your right shoulder; $1.50 if you put it on your cape.
Okay that was just a joke, but seriously though. It would be fun if real ads are well integrated into the game world. Let's face it in a world with superheroes then ads for tennis shoes and sports drinks would sometimes have super-hero themes. If the ads are written as if they would be written in a world with superheroes that might be fun. Heck even the guys writing the ads might have fun with that. -

Almost as funny as those ridiculous fake "Flight Poses" you said you were adding in.
Oh wait...
[/ QUOTE ]
Even when sarcastically joking the word "ridiculous" and the phrase "Flight Poses" do not belong in the same sentence. I remember logging on to test and falling in love w/ flight posses only to have them yanked and then have to wait for months to get them. That cruel cruel tease cannot even be sarcastically compared to a harmless April fools joke. I got yer flight pose right here ! -
Hrmf....I appreciate the effort to celebrate this holiday, but really....this the best you could do? Perhaps I'm just jaded. After all, with a birthday on April 1st, you get used to this kind of thing. I was through with gag gifts by the time I was 10 "Gee another wrapped empty box...thanks Mom; this wouldnt scar me for life and hinder my long term ability to trust anyone .nope not one bit! "
I'm kidding, my mom is great and only ever gave me a FEW gag gifts. I do, however, think most people cannot be trusted. -

Just checked at Play NC. It sez " Veteran Rewards Time: 4 Years, 0 Months" but also sez " Total Paid Time: 3 Years, 10 Months "
So should I have it or not?
[/ QUOTE ]
You should. I'm faced with the same thing, but in the FAQs it clearly says that Vet Rewards are calculated from when you first created your account.
[/ QUOTE ]
It goes by vet reward time, i too had some free time on my account from the start up code and subsequent upgrades, but Vet Time is the decider since that starts from account creation
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, the 'system' isn't quite working as it should be. I should be anticipating my 39 month reward soon, but at the moment haven't even received my 36 month. Somewhat annoying.
Additionally, someone before mentioned Time Cards... they should go towards time accrued too.
Veteran Rewards FAQs
[/ QUOTE ]
For what it's worth I've always had the other new vet rewards on the day they rolled out. Used to be ppl showed up to Atlas when the new rewards rolled out to show of their vet status. For me it was my way of saying "Hey I might only me of moderate skill, but at least I'm persistent. Or at perhaps It just sez I've had no life for longer then most
.
Anyway I still have not seen the new one yes, I suppose I'm waiting for some time in late April then. -

Thugs/Traps Masterminds each with 6 Henchmen, Gang War for 10 more, FF Generator, Acid Mortar, 2 Seeker Drones, non-combat Vet Pet, and Dam/Res Vet Pet. That's 8 players and 176 pets, though granted only 168 of those are targetable. Too bad mobs don't have limits on the number of things they can hit.

Sweet Jebus I wanna see screen shots of such a door mission! -

Maybe if I beat enough of them, Rikti will let me be in his show....
[/ QUOTE ]
Sweet Jebus I cannot believe I've played this game for four years (okay on April 27th 4 yrs) and this is the 1st time I've ever heard a Lucille Ball reference in relation to the Rikti.
Now give me a minute to think I'm trying to come up with a joke relating to taking a Pillbox in RV into "All in the Family". -
Just logged in and the "bug" didn't grant me the reward "early" either. I've been playing since day 1 of general release (nope not beta) so I suppose I have to wait until April 27th
. Strange though I didn't think, beta counted toward Vet rewards. As a matter of fact I've gotten every other vet reward the 1st day they were out. I don't remember the exact day of each of them but I do vaguely remember some of them seemed to come out a little early in relation to the date they were "supposed" based on when the game was released to come out. Strange thing is now Im gonna be kind of embarrassed about playing between now and April 27th
Wait a second negate that.

No doubt. This is a cool pet and all, and the buff is nice and all... but i doubt i'll ever use it... I can't think of ONE of my 25 active alts that'd have a wisp/fairy/clockwork/orb following he everywhere he goes... well maybe ONE... i do have a tech FF/Archer the orb could work with... but still...
Not that i'm bashing it, but to me... it's MEH.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well... as far as *justification* goes... I think I remember in the UK thread that the description of the fairy was something along the lines of.. she was found/rescued... I figure that pretty much any AT/Origin can come up with some sort of reason for having one of these lil widgets...
The fairy was saved/captured (hero/villain) during a CoT mission... Wisps could be pretty much explained the same way. For the CW or drones, they could be either created by the character (Science/Tech/Natural) or given/stolen from a friend/foe...
The buffs aren't overpowering but nice... the pets are blown-glass weak.. so.. all around decent, IMO... and creating an in-game justification isn't all that difficult.. and this coming from a very NON-RP player.. heh
As for the concerns about "Vet Only" requirements for team make-up... I wouldn't be too concerned. I play on Champion, Victory, Pinnacle and Protector.. I am more often than not the "eldest" player on most teams I am on, and I have about 6 months left before I get them.
If people start *demanding* that their teams are made up of these OLD vets.. I think they're gonna be kinda lonely.
Peace
[/ QUOTE ]
I usually like to come up with my OWN justifications regardless of what is written about them. For example: Magical Blue wisp? meh Mine is a blip of energy from the same energy dimension my Hero gets his powers. What you call wisp I cal a Blip of nearly-sentient energy from another dimension. -

[The Veteran Reward will be available after the live update on March 5th, 2008.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just a nitpick, why is the reward available tomorrow? Shouldn't the actual 48 month of the game be in April which is the 4th anniversary of the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup the 25th of April but some people will get them early due to a bug.
Alas I am not one of the fortunate.
[/ QUOTE ]
A bug? Will this bug work for ALL day 1 vets on March 5th? If I don't get mine until April 25th (cuz the bug works for some and not others) It's gonna kind of bug me playing it between now and April 25th. I know it's shallow but darn it; it will still bug me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope just happens to some people not all are launch Vets it is a long standing bug though.
In my case I got the 36 month one two weeks late and the 39 or 42 month one a week early can't remember any more.
The 45 month one was awarded correctly so there is some variation.
So I wish you luck.
[/ QUOTE ]
Weird, I never noticed that. I just thought they were being inconsistent. -

Seriously though I hope ppl don't take the dev generated background story of the pets to seriously. A lot of ppl are saying "Dude my toon wouldnt have either a fairy or some kind of bot following him/her around" Personally if you look at Vis Viva for example (see link in sig) the "look" of the wisp works. The toon's story involves contact with a dimension which never "cooled" like ours. He is powered by that "Living Force" (hence the name Vis Viva). The "wisp" has the look and with +rec the properties of a "blip" of energy from that Universe. Heck blip is what he would probably name the thing. I suppose one persons Faerie who has come from the Lost Lands is another persons blip of living energy from an alternate dimension

Yeah it's +1.75% End recovery not +1.75 End/sec.
It's like an extra set IO set bonus.
[/ QUOTE ]
So with eight blue wisps on a team, if the bonuses stack (and that is a very big if) that would be +14% End rec, and +20% DEFENCE.
WHOA.
Kind of puts the Leadership pool in the shade, don't you think!
I foresee 'long term vet only' teams in the future...
[/ QUOTE ]
Alright I might not be the most skilled guy around but finally my perseverance (day one vet) will pay off
Now watch as the serious players (but those who have not been playing that long) go into caniptions over what I just said -
I assume it's been mentioned. What's up with the bridal train/hair color issue. Seems the outside train color is the same as the hair color (i.e you want a white train you get white hair) and you cannot even set the inside color of the train.
-
Looking forward to it. I hope the character bios will be online too. For some of us the story is more important than the stats (sez the guy with over 100 toons, all having bios written". Gotta take a few hours now and again log into them all to keep them current on the web page then though.
Seriously though. Who really thinks they have a super secret special build that nobody can ever know? If all you care about is a good PvP build there are fantastic build guilds online. I cannot imagine anyone who is actually believes they have them all beat. -
