  1. I've always hated this, If you're not 50 you can't comment stupidity. There's plenty of l50's who play their char badly, and just got PLed by their SG, and there's plenty of VERY good players who haven't had the time to actually make it to 50, or conversely are maybe leveling slowly to actually enjoy the content.

    Just because my Main char is only l33, does not mean that I have no idea how Mesmerize works, or no feel for wether or not drain psyche is a valid replacement for Stamina.

    And certainly, since most of what Bradd has done has been MATH and Calculus.. I really don't see how not being l50 makes any difference what so ever.

    Issues of basic logic can be commented on by someone who hasn't played the game at all.
    Issues that pop up before level 33 can be commented on by someone who is level 33.

    Unfortunately, the person who demanded that others post their builds and tactics so that he could tell them what they were doing wrong did not say that he was going to restrict his comments to pre-level-33, or to the build that he has personal experience with. If he had, then I would not have had a problem with it. I just think it's silly, though, for a person to put themselves forth as an expert on build and tactics when they have been playing the game since 2004 and their highest char is level 33. If I were such a person, I'd be asking for advice, not presuming to offer it.

    All you ever do is go, "loook, on thursday's at 1am there's less dom's than any other AT... DOOOM DOOOM"

    I really wish you'd just stop posting altogether. I haven't seen a single post from you that wasn't either a thinly veiled insult, or a DOOOOOM I can't solo 8man spawns so I'm not pulling my weight.
  3. well triangles are just a representation of the jump from -4 to -49

    If AV"s had a 12 or 16 mag .. and that was it. they would be hard to hold, but doable when multiple holders stacked. This SHOULD be fine...

    Controllers dont have this issue because they bring basically the same functional support as a defender, plus as good damage as anyone else with containment. Remember, their damage is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH lower than a doms against an AV, because they do their double damage attacks 33% of the time AT MOST. Comparing a fire/fire dom to any troller, and the the damage WITH containment is similar, and WITHOUT containment isnt even close.

    Ifs its only a case of damage, I would take a dom (fire or otherwise) over a troller every time if the hold is only going to work 33% of the time.

    In reality, the controller damage is icing on the cake, the buff/debuff from their secondary is why they are never a bad choice for a team mate.

    Anglican.. that 33% double damage thing is wrong. At least it's wrong for any controller who isn't illusion or Mind.

    AV triangle's don't effect immobilizes. So, they can still get 'containment'
  5. There are 3 major problems with Dominators, when it comes to the end/game AV fights.

    1) Control is binary and limited because "city of statues is no fun"
    2) Dominator control is not 'effectively' higher than corruptor control, due to the large jump in Magnitude. Any 2 corruptors (with a hold in their build) can stack mag 6 in order to hold an EB or an AV with triangles down. Though, no single corruptor can. Their holds don't cycle fast enough, to hold a boss and especially not an EB.
    3) Dominator damage is low due to perceived inbalance in control + damage. Leaving Dominators as a low hp, 0 defense, lite melee damage at with lots of wasted control ability that don't work for most of the av fights.


    My Dark/Dark friend has a STH, and it's slotted identically to mine, acc/acc/hold/hold/rec/rec But it doesn't cycle fast enough to allow her to hold a boss by herself reliably. But, two corruptors can do it just fine. Since for most Corruptors their hold is an afterthought.. like Oh yeah.. I have this thing don't I. It's easy to find a team with 3-4 corruptors in it, who all have a hold. This means, that a corruptor heavy team, has 'enough' control to control an AV or an EB when the triangles are down.


    The Mag system needs to be reworked. I proposed it earlier in the thread. But I think it's a viable solution to part of the problem.
    Minion -1
    lt -2
    Boss -4
    EB -8
    AV -12 (+triangles)

    Additionally, I would up the magnitude of the control primary powers. Specifically I would +2/3 them
    Sleep/Immob currently mag 4. Up them to Mag 7
    Hold/confuse/fear Mag 3. Up them to mag 5

    Leave the Corruptor/tanker/PPP holds still at mag 2 or 3 like they are now.

    It would also mean improving the mez resistance of those who have mezz resistance of course. Tankers/Scrappers/Brutes/Dominators/Controllers/defenders/MM pets... etc.

    Additionally, we should get a damage boost that either looks like Fury (but with a slightly lower max damage cap) OR a flat 1.0 at modifier to our attacks. Our attacks are lower damage AND we have a lower AT modifier, with no ability to self-buff. These two combined give us effectively the lowest damage in the game, except for the freaky no pet MM's but hey.. they're gimping themselves on purpose so.

    However funny this may appear, it is a valid point of view. Its the flip side of the same mirror. If (as some say) corruptors can out control a dom, its clearly a design flaw with corruptors, as they should have no ability to get close to dom level of control. Plus, controls have been nuked as too strong (vs AVs, AOE holds, etc), so if they have more controls than doms, surely corruptors need nerf. Not saying I agree with it, but its surely reasonable.

    I dont know ice corruptors, so will stick with a dark corruptor.

    The reason I see my dark corrutor as strong on a team, is not the damage (dark damage really isnt that good, IMO), but the AOE debuffs.

    You have tar patch (- resistance and slow), darkest night (-damage, -acc), and shadowfall has an aoe buff (+defense and +resistance). Discounting the pet, thats a decent amount of damage reduced via +resist +def on team, -damage and -acc on mobs. Further, taking the case of 5 of them on a team, you now have all of the AVs bottomed out, because all of these effects overlap.

    To me, its the overlap and triangles (ie. holds dont work) that really make the difference. If our AOE holds could be made perma, so 5 doms could spam AOE holds and the AVs didnt have triangles, then we would be as welcome as corruptors on the LRSF.

    The problem is not that corruptors can out control a dom.

    Because, on paper they just can't.
    The problem is that, Dom's don't have enough control to make up for the fact that all you need is 6 mag to get the control you need, and the fact that the next step is 50+ mag.

    If dom powers were mag 6-7 BEFORE domination. Then.. You'd find that doms had enough of a mag over-load to do something about AV's.

    The other option btw... is this:
    Minion mag -1
    Lt mag -2
    Boss mag -5
    EB mag -8
    AV mag -8 + Triangle buff
  7. I have a l9 fire/dark corruptor. And while I can't have RoF and tar Patch every spawn... i can solo 8 mob spawns pretty easily.
  8. I disagree whole heartedly about Levitate. It's an important part of my mind/psi attack chain. It's actually the only attack chain I had for the first 28 levels.

    Before subdue:
    Levitate, dominate, psi-dart, maybe sleep, repeat.

    Throw mind probe in for fun and profit.

    Even now at 32nd my attack chain is dependent on Levitate, because Mental Blast is such a horrible power.

    Seriously, where does this stuff keep coming from? I didn't even take my AoE hold and I can keep non-triangle Elite Bosses held indefinitely without Domination... Bosses are only a threat for about 5 seconds.

    Really not sure where this comes from as a Mind/psi bosses are easy to lock down.

    Dominate -> levitate -> mesmerize -> dominate

    Then I just spam dominate as often as it's up, while kicking the crap out of them.

    Solid Control + solid Buff/Debuff + high specialized damage < Mediocre Control + low damage

    It's been said repeatedly that "being held is unfun"
    And yet, being slowed to a point where you can't run and can't swing is different somehow? Or being stunned, and then getting killed onthe follow up is.. fun?

    I think I would have liked both of those, although /psy jsut fits so well with my char concept. Really, they should just up /psy's damage to match the other sets. It's a disturbingly weak damage set, with no benefits, unless -recharge is a more huge than I'm noticing.
  17. Wow, I have a mind/psy dominator. And while the New mayhem missions made me feel really weak and pathetic, and PVP always makes me feel like i picked the worse too ever. I solo on relentless, and I have, basically since I managed to do my respec and got rid of TD and that lovely attack Mental Blast.

    I die a bit when i duo/trio but that's because I tend to play a bit too much like a Brute.
  18. I did my first mission as a mind/psy dominator.
    It was pretty much an exercise in frustration.
    Ghost PPD, Security Captains, and the Doors were basically indestructable for me.

    You know, I already can't defeat MM's, at least not mercenary.
    Now, they're going to be even harder to kill. This looks like a nice buff for MM's, but if you think you suck at pvp, you should try playing a dominator for a week. You'll never complain about your MM again.

    I don't have status effect, and don't plan to till I get Unstoppable (although I'm going to pick up Acrobatics asap, it's part of my build)
    I was getting stunned alot lyesterday, thank god for defenders..
    But we did okay. I died once.. but that was mostly my fault.
