Boomtown was first a zone that only allowed lvl 15's, then was scaled down to 13, then down to its final state of 10.

Positron TF only allowed i think lvl14-17's

    [/ QUOTE ]

And to combine these two great tastes that taste great together:

There was a roughly 99% chance that at least one of the first three missions of the Positron TF would be in Boomtown, so it was possible to start a TF and then find out that some or even none of the heroes in the TF would be allowed into the mission zone.

Nothing says "quick Task Force" like hearing "Okay, let's just street hunt in Steel until (insert hero name here) levels".
  2. Some that haven't been mentioned so far. Hey, remember when:

The Tanker Super Strength power "Knockout Blow" used to be a single-target disorient that did next to no damage? After months of complaints that revolved around how SS utterly lacked any high-damage attacks, this was changed around (I think) Issue 2 or 3. Personally, I cackled with glee when first trying out the "new" KO Blow on the Test server.

Slotting enough Slow enhancements in Caltrops would reduce enemy movement to zero? This led to /Devices Blasters, especially AR Blasters using the dread Caltrops/Ignite combo, powerlevelling risk-free enough to get "nerfed" around (again, AFAIK) Issue 1ish.

Certain original costume parts were changed? The original suit, pants and at least 1 of the skirts have been changed to the point where if you have an old (Issue 1-2ish) character with them, if you stop by Icon they won't even show up in the costume window and are replaced by generic tights.

CoT in Kings Row spawned only on some rooftops, and only at night?

The "Rescue The Fortune Teller" mission used to be unpopular? Before it became a Badge/Accolade mission, it was just a huge PITA mission, since it was just deep inside Perez and on a cave mission map. And everyone had it, and so Perez teams had to run it over and over and over again? At least two years have gone by and Paragon's worst fortune teller still can't predict when she's going to be kidnapped.

There used to be separate Endurance Recovery and Endurance Drain enhancements?

Paragon City Police Drones were the biggest PL'ers, since they gained 10 levels overnight after Issue 1 hit?

Task Forces were bugged to the point of being unplayable, and the Devs actively warned players not to try them?

So Pocket D is a lot of fun. But there are a few problems in teaming with villains:

    1. You can't give a villain an inspiration. Now, I think I've seen Superman give "inspiration" to just about everyone, even Lex Luthor. I don't see why this isn't possible.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can buy temp powers from the "named" Pocket D bartenders that allow you to heal your teammates (villain or hero), or boost their defense or attack power. This doesn't cover Awakens, in which case you can always try and find a teammate with a rez power, or make sure everyone's stocked with an Awaken before the mission.

Yes, and in that message, Geko stated explicitly that zombie vomit was classified as fire, and some poison attacks (like mortificator darts) were classified as negative.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, then my question would be "Hey devs, if you can change the damage type of Vahz attacks as a stop-gap until Poison damage shows up, why stop there and ignore other, much nastier, forms of unclassified damage?"
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Vahz puke is fire... not unclassified.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Vahz puke is still technically unclassified, since it doesn't display a damage type when you're hit with it.

The fact that some powers resist it makes it much less of an issue than later-game unclassified and unresistable damage like Devoured spit, Nemesis gas, Spines poison, etc., but it's still annoying.

I do remember a few months back a dev post about adding "poison" as a damage type that would cover everything that's currently unclassified, though.
  7. Well, I just feel like asking questions rather than ranting, but Statesman has probably fled from this thread.

    2. The changes to Fear are being worked on now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is this by any chance going to alter the two fear-based powers in the Presence power pool? I'd wager money that Intimidate and Invoke Panic are the two least-taken power pool powers in the game, so changing them along the same lines as primary/seconday fear powers would make them a lot more attractive, at least to my Tanker.

    3. Tankers have top priority post Update 3 to get their increased mob control abilities. I'd love to tie this to some twinks to Controllers - so that both have a good role in mob management - but I can't make any promises about that in particular.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good to hear. But assuming this new Tanker aggro control is innate, will it scale with level? What might be a nifty trick for a 20+ Tanker might be a death sentence for a low-level Tanker in The Hollows or Perez.

    6. I do know that Unyielding Stance and its immobility is an issue. I'm going to be thinking about that a lot in the coming week.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not as dead-set against the immobility of US as others, so I hope your solution doesn't sacrifice too much hold/stun protection in favor of mobility.

If you've got anything else you want an update on, feel free to post and I'll TRY to answer questions. Please don't ask things about future features...I'll be happy to communicate the status of the "big" questions that appear to come up over and over again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know this has been brought up before, but any word on officially typing the currently untyped damage (DE spit, Nemesis gas, Vahz puke, supposedly most of Hamidon-related damage)?

Oh, and a completely random suggestion: Any chance you can pander to the roleplaying crowd and allow separate character descriptions and name options to be added to each costume slot?
  8. Sounds like it could be excellent.

Personally, I'm hoping it adds another layer to missions, rather than being isolated as "skill" missions.

Meaning that there'd be multiple ways to complete missions. If you want to try and complete a mission just by cracking skulls, you can. If you want to and complete it (or at least make it much easier) by hacking a database, or investigating further on your own, you can.
  9. FYI, in order to get the "Gearsmasher" badge, you have to defeat the little Gear Clockworks that spawn when you defeat Clock bosses, not just the bosses themselves.

Also, is it just me or is there not a badge for defeating Vahz bosses? I defeated a few Eidolons last night and no badge slot opened up, unlike the ones that opened up for beating other bosses from other mobs.

And from the names of them, I think some of the badges like "Pwnz" and "Plague Stopper" must be related to completing story arcs.
  10. At least one level 20ish contact in Independence Port will give out a "Defeat 30 Sky Raiders in Terra Volta" mission to you even if you're three levels below the minimum security level (23) to enter Terra Volta. I had to spend three long, long levels staring at that mission on my list.

Even enemies that don't have specific stun powers can stun you if they hit you hard enough. Trolls, Family, Tsoo Ancestor Spirits, Freakshow, Warriors, etc.

I've noticed that stores tend to be near the permanent waypoint dots on zone maps.

If you're a Dark Armor Scrapper or Stone Tanker, you don't need to spend that much time designing your costume.
