I went for a Swashbuckler in the end, he's called Garde and uses the Rapier/Main Gauche combo with Super Reflexes as his secondary. Very fun.

Its brilliant for holding masses of mobs in large scale fights, CE + Icicles gives you a fantastic AoE Taunt, however do not skip the Taunt power as the Auras are not 100% guarenteed to work on high level bosses and AVs.

Not sure how things may have changed in recent times but back when I played on the US Servers I could tank most stuff with just CE & Icicles then Energy Absorbtion as needed.
However I still picked up Taut as its invaluable for when things do go wrong (and they will), the Auras can only Taunt so many mobs to having Taunt to fall back for when someone accidentally pulls two groups is awesome. -
Thanks for the replies folks, I may drop Resist Elements/Energies then and reshuffle some of the powers, take the fighting ones earlier and then drop in my Taunt at the higher end so I can pull runners away from the defenders/controllers.

Just a quick question here folks, are there any people who play low level characters at the weekends? My play time is very restricted so I don't get on much appart from the odd evening during the week and most weekends, the problem I've got is that I'm finding it extremely difficult to get a team together as no one is playing in my level range.
My current mainly played characters are Chill Time a level 8 Ice/Ice tank and Kung Fu Mike a level 7 Martial Arts/Invulnerability Scrapper. When I have a look at the lfg tool I don't see anyone in my level range and when I flag myself as lfg I don't get any invites, when I used to play on the US servers I couldn't go 5 minutes as my tank without getting a team invite. Has the population of the game dropped off to such a level that there are just no lowbies around anymore? -
Hi there folks, I've returned to CoH after a long absence (I used to play on the US Servers years ago) and I'm putting some characters together to play. Now Scrappers & Tanks have always been favourites of mine. I've created a Tank and now I'm working on a scrapper, I've decided to go for Martial Arts & Invulnerability as my powersets and I've got two potential builds, I just wanted comments on them. The builds are for PvE not PvP.
The first is a classic /Inv build that makes use of Kick & Tough to boost resistance to Smashing/Lethal, the second ditches the fighting pool in favour of Tough Hide and Laser Beam Eyes. Now I'm totally unfamiliar with the whole Inventions system and Invention Origin Enhancements so what I really need to know is will IO's push the Smashing/Lethal Resistance close enough to the 75% cap without me needing the Fighting Pool?

There was no was I was going to skip Glacial Armour, I remember from my previous Ice/Ice tank on the US Servers back around Issue 5 how vital it was to have.
Hoarforst I always used to have slotted for healing because I kept it as a 'oh [censored]' button to use when there were suddenly loads more bad guys than I was expecting.
CE & Icicles were my aggro grab tools for the most part with Taunt being kept for after Blaster cuts loose with his nuke or something similar.
I tended to avoid Permafrost as, and it may have changed since the last time I played, it was always kind of lame.
I ended up throwing slots around as I was running out of things to slot to be honest, only having 4 slots per armour (1 end redux and 3 +def) leaves loads of slots. I may end up going for Frost & Ice Storm for the AoE tanking.

My play time is likely to be quite casual so while I wouldn't mind joining a SG at some point I'd be mainly looking for one that isn't going to mind if I can only play a couple of nights a week. -
Fair enough, is there a location where I can read up on the Defence Changes? I left just after Ice tanks had recieved a massive nerf to Wet Ice and the whole 'Only 3 of any one type of enhancement' thing.

Whats the Tanking situation like at the moment by the way? I love playing Tanks and my Ice/Ice combo was always one of my favourites, definately better in a team than solo though so I'll be looking to do as much teaming as possible. -

I used to play CoH on the US server a few years ago (prior to the EU release), but haven't played in ages. So I decided to pick up an EU account for some casual 'I want to smack down 10-20 badguys) fun.
Anyway my main character will be an Ice/Ice Tanker called Chill Time (a rework of my character from the old US servers) who will be pootling about doing various missions and laying the smack down.
