No I was doing per power side by side comparisons to I Strike.

Keep in mind the shorter cast times also mean fitting in more attacks. With Apoc in g bolt using an alternative slotting for g blast, i strike's DPA goes slightly higher than blast. That in and of itself isn't conclusive though, since bolt and blast combined have a shorter cast time than I strike. So not only are bolt and blast beating I Strike on DPA by themselves with purple procs (they each fall behind by about 6 pts when you sub in a toxic damage proc) but you can use them both in the time it takes to use i strike. By the time you finish casting both blasts, r strike is up on a high end build and that beats everything by a longshot.

And yea I guess there's a point in using I Strike as a hold if you have the slots for it and don't mind the animation time. It's also nice for exemping and good burst damage for one shotting LT's in the lower levels. It's just not good for sustained DPS situations, ie AV fights and the like.

Gleaming Bolt -> Gleaming Blast -> Radiant Strike
This is the best chain, period. Why are you looking at DPS of single attacks? Why are you writing pages of useless crap without even giving total DPS numbers for the chains you're posting? Why do you think this:
    Quote:
Incandescent Strike -> Radiant Strike -> Gleaming Bolt -> Gleaming Blast ->
Is better than Bolt?Blast>R Strike? The animation on I Strike is way too long to be used in a high DPS chain. With ED capped damage and a purple proc in each plus t4 interface the DPA is higher on r strike, g bolt and g blast than it is on I Strike. There's no reason to ever use I Strike over any of those 3 attacks if you want high end DPS on your Peacebringer.

This trial is a disgrace imo. If an option to unlock Hybrid iXP with other trials (MoM and TPN at the very least) and flat-out buy it with threads/inf. isn't added very soon, my sub is canceled. This trial is the biggest bucket of fail I've ever seen in my life.

    long break

Leaving COH is impossible. I've tried so many times. I think the first sign is when I say, "I don't wanna play anymore, but I'm gonna keep my sub up anyways. Y'know. Because I don't wanna miss any reward tokens. I'm totally quitting though."

My record for not playing since I first joined up is 3 and a half days.

    Welcome back though!
  8. I like Cimerorans on my Warshade for the extra damage, but I went with Storm Elementals on my Archery Blaster because they look cool and I like the -end (it goes well with Drain Psyche, E-Fences and Ion.) There are tons of reasons to take different Lore pets imo, a lot of them give really neat buffs. I have Seers on my Fire Blaster for the psi damage, but they also have a heal and Fortitude. I suggest checking out the info on all of them in game.

I'm sure that a good player who's experienced with it can do great things with it, but c'mon. We have Illusion, Mind, Plant, etc.

I think you commenting on it and taunting other players about it when you have never actually played it is silly, and your constant antagonizing of other players borders on a personality disorder. I'm not sure how you think you come across, but to me, at least, your tone is inappropriate and I think its probably best if you and I just stay away from each other.
Wow, so Ice Control has reached the epic plateau of "playable." Holding your interest isn't how the rest of us measure the benefits of powersets. Sorry about that.

If you don't wanna talk to me, don't quote me. I like COH but I don't like the fact that it's turned into happy fun land where everyone holds hands and skips through ranbows in an enchanted forest. I'm not everyone else on the forum, if I don't agree with something you say don't expect me to act like they do. If you can't take being argued with, just don't talk to me.

    ?!

As it happens, so does everyone here. You're welcome to your opinion, but I do think you should at least consider there are people in this thread who have actually played this set before. I personally have 4 Ice characters at 50.

Trick question. Illusion has a completely different kind of control than any of the control sets. The actual Illusion set's AoE control in a fast moving group is probably around the level of certain Corruptors and Defender sets like Dark Miasma. Phantom Army is great for holding the attention of a couple of enemies or an AV. It's a great power. But it doesn't completely displace Ice Slick or AA and such. I feel like I have to ask again: have you played this set? Have you played any Controller at all? You do at least realize Illusion is not available to Dominators, even though you deflected my statement about Ice Dominators to talk about Controllers again? I'm really not trying to be mean to you, but the level of confidence you invest in your judgments about sets you have no first hand experience with is a little offputting. There's good reason I don't make myself knownon the Tanker boards for making judgments about Super Reflexes or whatever even though I have mids and am pretty good with it.

    Yes.

Not at the level of play we're talking about. Mind Dominators can make up for it, but not because the primary has great damage.

That's really not necessary. I'm more a fan of some of the posted builds than others, but in the spirit of fairness I think we need to give everyone a chance to participate without insulting them.
Oed. your post leads me to believe that you are very biased towards Ice. You've referenced your experience with it, and you seem to be naturally fond of it based on your previous posts. This makes me think that you don't think Ice Control sucks- And congratulations on that feat. I'm sure it took a grand amount of doublethink and personal attachment in order to arrive at that conclusion.

Arbiter Hawk probably had little to do with the selection of the powersets in this thread, and if he had anything to do with it, he clearly chose what were two of the least discussed-as-being-good powersets in the game in an attempt to peak interest in them, via the new BUILD WORKSHOP SECTION OF THE FORUMS, which serves an awesome purpose, since DEV'S post here sometimes!

He's clearly busy developing the new stuff that leaked that we're not allowed to talk about. He'll get to this thread whenever he feels like it and has time to. I bet most of his personal COH time is spent stomping mobs on an Arch/Ment Blaster or a Human Warshade. Arbiter Hawk is way too clever to play Ice Control.

Bahaha. Just stick it in Solar Flare and go human form. You can line up the cone and the TAOE from range... Though it's not ideal. You'll still have to skip Seekers for PVE.

Stone are you still running a s/l build?
  17. My favorite Scrapperlock moments are:

    1. Whenever I play my Warshade. Too many stories to tell.

    2. Going off and soloing mobs of Praetorian robots on my Peacebringer during Tin Mage. This happened recently during Kheldian Fridays, and it felt pretty good.

    3. Soloing entire bunkers on Keyes Island with my Arch/Ment, and taking out Warwalkers for temp drops by myself. This has happened more than once, it's my favorite trial to do on my Blaster for all the amazing Scrapperlock opportunities. The last time I did a Keyes on him I tagged and charged 3 terminals single-handedly, all on the same phase.

enough for a ST chain- Well>Eye>Blast>Eye is actually the highest DPS you can get on a Warshade build. I pefer to sub Eye for E Drain for the heal but it is slightly less damage. For that build, AOE is coming from Mire, Unchain and fluffies. Dark Detonation isn't great for AOE right now but I do have it in my current build. Come the summer event, it'll be like an awesome ranged Foot Stomp once you stick a -KB proc in there.

Here's my old Human/Dwarf s/l softcapped build. You might wanna sub in some cheaper sets, but this worked well for me when I used it. Dwarf was just for mules but I guess you could use it for exemping. The mire is gimpy though.

Edit: It also uses the pre-issue 22 Eclipse slotting, so you'll wanna re-evaluate that.

It's about convenience more than anything else. You need to understand that the time someone spends PLing you is time that could be spent marketeering, ticket farming, villain/emp merit farming, etc. 300 million for a run is really breaking even for a farmer. Granted I PL my friends for free all the time, but I have no qualms hiring someone to PL one of my alts if it's needed. Waiting for a friend to PL you, they'll generally bring others along for the ride too which means less XP gain. It's also around their schedule, whereas hiring a farmer is around your schedule. Also, infamy really isn't that big of a deal. You can make 300 mil in a half hour or less just doing SSA's for villain merits.

AIB doesn't pay a subscription fee. He gets paid $15 a month to play the game.

Primal Earth won the war against Praetoria because AIB one-shotted Tyrant with Brawl.

Galaxy City was destroyed because AIB accidentally used Rest in the zone.

Giant Monsters show up gray to AIB.

Before any new content comes out, the Dev's ask AIB to test it. If it takes him more than 10 seconds to solo it, they know it will be challenging for full teams of other players.

The 'I Win' button was created after a GM watched AIB use Gabriel's Hammer.

Blue Steel uses a thread from AIB's blazer as a source to draw out his power.

Also, PokeVoke, which is what you're referring to, isn't a natural AoE. I also do not think it applies to Patron Attacks. I'll double check later.
LT's were resisting it, or I was just missing them a lot. Even if the Brute provoke mechanism doesn't work in patron attacks, there's still FS being cycled every 5-6s.

And I'm really not trying to make excuses, so I'm sorry if it's coming across that way. I had honestly never even tried to clear a full cave before because it just didn't seem efficient to me. Even on my SS/Fire I wouldn't farm that way.

And again: Fences do a wonderful job to lock down runners when I'm not overly worried about killing every single enemy. It's only at this extreme of clear-all where a Brute's extra methods of aggro control really start to make a big impact.

I am well aware that you have one of the best tools for farming to keep things locked down and to avoid runners, just it does not always work, I agree. Brutes have Taunt and Fences if they went Mu, and many do for this method of lockdown.
He was also using Lore pets to keep things herded- I have Storm Elementals so the KB means that method wouldn't work for me. It's worth mentioning that not only do Brutes get a taunt aura, they also have a version of the tank inherent providing a taunt with every attack used. And yes, Fences help, but they definitely don't always work. You should've seen the bosses and LT's just run through them.

    That.

So, this is either user-error, or just unfortunate circumstance. Regardless, it is there. And I know how good E-Fences are. I swear by them when able.
Yes fences do help but when you're at the aggro cap they're not going to do a 100% job (or even close to it.) With the way I prefer to farm though, they do plenty good enough.... But in a circumstance that requires defeat-all farming they are not sufficient by themselves.
