Some of the files in my install will be for my character info and Mission Architect stuff, as well as "PlayerCreatedSouvenirClues." What specifically do I need to copy over so that she doesn't end up with my personal stuff?
-
We copied everything over to a flash drive, then copied that over, replacing files that were already installed. We deleted the checksum files in the COH folder. Then, on starting the launcher, it demanded we reinstall the game and tried to restart from stage 1. It will NOT give us a button to click to verify files. What gives? We can't just keep trying to reinstall a 4.5 gb game every day!
I'm going to delete the copy I had saved on my flash drive and recopy everything to it from my hard disk. It was an older install of the game, and I'd tried to copy stuff over without deleting the older version first. Maybe that will work.
Any ideas? -
Long story made short: my girlfriend's old laptop died before COH: Freedom went live. Her Architect Edition CD is in a storage building. We tried downloading the client last night and installing it, and all was well until it got into the Staged Downloading process--specifically Stage 4, where it started to slow down considerably in the mid-twenties percent.
Is there a time where Stage 4 speeds up considerably? Is there a way to avoid Staged Downloading altogether if we can do a fresh install from a CD such as Architect Edition? Or do we just have to let this one play out?
Thanks in advance. -
Still looking to make up the ones for February and run some for March. Been very busy with work and life.
Don't count me out yet!
-
I need to do a couple of these for February. I'll try to get to 'em tonight, but I have a lot of work to do, so it might be a belated posting here tomorrow night, March 1. I still want to be in this!

Interesting.
Will be watching this!

Time for Tubbius's Two Arcs of the Month!
First, "The Astral Prison," by @Zaphir, #524278.
While the first mission is a bit trippy and tough to follow, the story very quickly coalesces into one part thriller, one part science-fiction. Well done! 5 stars!
Second, "Terra Mystika: The Nexus," by @Lord of Storms, #514570.
Overall, a pretty solid fantasy-themed arc. The final reveal is simple enough to figure out if the player's been paying attention to the clues all along. I can see it not working as well in a big group with a lot of action; the arc's definitely geared toward solo play. Overall, despite this and despite a few minor typos throughout, good work! 5 stars. -
Did anyone else catch that the AE power for Invigorate (rez in AE missions) is now active, and it has a typo in the description, to boot?
-
Working from memory and not having a LOT of time because I'm working right now. . . .
Hmmm.
I've played some of these, or at least I recognize the titles, but some I'm not sure about. . . .
Against the Wickerwork Khan
Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society (Maybe)
Talos Vice
Teen Phalanx Forever! (Maybe)
Crafter's Cafe
The Murders in the RWZ Morgue
The Consequences of War (Maybe)
A Very Special Episode (Maybe)
I'm usually too busy trying to push my own stuff. This is a good challenge to get folks to try new things! -
Thanks for the consideration! I'm glad that City of Ho Ho Ho was something of a hit, given it was my first arc.
Right on!

Comma splices are easy to identify. Look for where you have commas. If a comma is between two complete sentences, and there's no and, but, or, nor, for, yet, or so after that comma, then you need to bust that comma out and replace it with a period or semicolon.
Or add one of the aforementioned conjunctions as appropriate AFTER the comma.
One example I usually use in class to teach this?
"I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy."
See the but there? That's what's keeping it from being a comma splice.
Hope that helps! -
Could have a random girlfriend get smashed in the stomach and hauled off from your oh so cool garage that you happen to come out of ten seconds later.

Cat: It's What's for Dinner
I figured I'd try another arc by @Interface.
Mission 1: So far, so good. Malta's not too hard to take down at my base level 37 (upped to 41 for the mission). Just taking it slow and easy.
Note: The Kronos Titan isn't just hanging out. It one-shotted me once and nearly did a second time. Also, I wouldn't have ever guessed to click the door on the map if I hadn't read one of the reviews above on this thread.
Later on, Duckling's bio text should read "its" shoulder, not "it's."And for the second time seeing it. . . what is "Kawaii?"
"Chiken" in Libertail's text needs correcting?
"Condemnding" in "A Fateful Choice" clue.
I like the optional choice at the end. Should I replay this, it looks like I'm fighting Lord Recluse's feline self. . . .

Two Chicks at Once
Good work overall. I know it's a comedy, so I'm not knocking it on that, even if it's not my personal flavor of comedy. Mechanically, the work is sound. The customs feel balanced overall. My big issue is with the first two missions. The first mission, which the players are encouraged to "ghost," is a really BIG level for what amounts to a single glowie objective. The second mission is similar, except with three glowies. It raises a simple question: why bother spending the time making custom enemies if they're potentially going to be ignored for the first two missions at all? This part just doesn't feel right. -- 5 stars rated in-game. -
In mission 4 of "Hammer and Sickle of Paragon City," arc 351727, Manuel Pistola, an Outcast leader turned Council agent, turns on the heroes during an uneasy truce of an attack on a 5th Column ship. He ends up suitably punished.
If you're still taking requests for one more, I'm sure I can work something up right fast this evening. Any recommendations on a particular orange jumpsuit?
Otherwise, I can certainly send you the costume file for you to edit and attire appropriately. Just let me know how, exactly, so I don't bugger it up. -
Oh, man. I need to run a couple of arcs within the next few days! Oops?
Silly work, eating into my AE time.
-
City of Ho Ho Ho (arc 18775). @Tubbius. Levels 5-20 vs. Outcasts and Trolls.
Go. Hunt. Save Santa.
-
Street Justice in the MA could lead to happy fun 80s style "bust 'em up" arcs.

Arc #271637: Welcome to M.A.G.I., by @Doctor Gemini
Good overall. 5 stars rating, but a few quick notes:
1. It might very well be finishable on a level 1-10, but I'm not sure? I was on a 25, exemplared down to 10, with level 15 powers, on a team of 8, at default difficulty settings, and it was tough going in some missions: very demanding in terms of constantly fighting. Plus, a true level 1-10 character won't necessarily have the space to carry the extra Break Frees to use in the last mission.
2. Azuria's voice didn't quite feel right to me, for some reason. She's always struck me as the wise, serene, water-off-a-duck type, which isn't quite the vibe I got here, especially with her crack about what players have heard at the Hero Registration meetings or what-not.
3. Something I'm guilty of myself, sometimes: a couple of the NPC chat boxes were slam full of text, making it hard to take them all in when a boss drops amid his flunkies because players are still trying to focus on fighting, not having the time to read the text 'til later, with scrolling up through the chatbox.
BUT overall, a solid mission with a good story when one takes the time to read the clues. 5 stars, and well worth a replay when I have a little more time and a character of the appropriate level to see if it REALLY works for me at that stage. Good work. -
Arc #115935 Cracking Skulls by @Flame Kitten
Loved the easy fun of low level Skulls-busting! This one comes packaged with a great story that's easy to follow, yet JUST complex enough to be rewarding. Great job! -
Will run an arc or two over each of the next two days. Don't count me out of the club yet! Been very busy with work.
-
I'm no farmer, but I hate to see this happen. I can't think of the number of times I've been on a pick-up team in the AE that got wiped fast because some bozo set the difficulty too high or the team was split up and uncoordinated. Being able to slam down a bunch of quick inspirations and blitz into a mission to try to help folks get back on their feet has been very helpful for me in the past at such moments--not a matter of eating a billion purples and reds to smash mob after mob, but a matter of getting something going so I could try to help out flagging teammates.
Oh well.
Masterminds absolutely HAVE to summon their pets inside the mission, every mission. It's why I don't take my mastermind into AE much any more. Now this?
I guess this also hoses stuff like Speed Boost, Adrenalin Boost, Mystic Fortune, most Defenders, and the like, right? -
Can't say I've ever run the arc or that I know the player, but congratulations all the same.

Arc #508837 Whack a Mole! Incarnate Edition! Lambda Sector by @Bubbawheat - Neutral 50, 7 plays
Whack a Mole! Incarnate Edition! Lambda Sector is a rare gem. I ran it with my level 20 Street Justice/Invulnerability scrapper--twice! The first pass was my feeling it out and getting used to the frenetic, rampant pacing that a 15 minute timer can bring. I got about 2/3 of the way into it before time ran out. The second pass, I did the right thing: I went straight for the objectives with minimal battling of the various mobs after the first room. The arc as a whole is a blast, even on a level 20 scrapper, so I think I'd really dig it on my level 50 controllers or blaster. Give it a shot!
Arc #525356 Agent of the OSS by @PW, Hero 20+, 0 plays
I'm a sucker for Golden Age heroics. The complete trades of Marvel's Invaders books are on my shelf, I watched Captain America in theaters with my girlfriend, and I'm a little of a history buff. That all said, this arc puts you in the role of a Golden Age hero enlisted to save an agent from the Nazis. Going from there puts you through a few short, action-packed, well-written missions with an eye for details, adding your hero's exploits to those of one of Paragon's established pantheon of heroes. Very well done, and worth a play, especially if you have any heroes who might fit thematically in terms of visuals and powersets--a Blackhawks or Howling Commandos-inspired Tommy Gun wielding blaster, perhaps?
That's two 5-starrings in one night! Great job, folks!
