Meh, run off the mill, one in a million pop.

Quote:Good post. I agree and have tried to explain the same thing to people before on teams before.I'm disgusted by neither group. What I have found absolutely intriguing about these discussions is the complete disconnect from the real world that many of you seem to have. Both of the extremes of Praetoria exist RIGHT NOW on this planet. Men who have schools named after them and statutes celebrating their accomplishments have done things more horrific than anything in these arcs.
I favor the Resistance side because I do not see them as sociopaths. Their cause is just like many revolutionaries in the past. I feel their methods are very extreme and only justified under the narrowest circumstances.
By contrast, I think the Loyalists are probably the less "cruel" side. But they are wrong. They take reprehensible actions for all the wrong reasons. So to me it's more like this: Do you join the Resistance and do horrific acts in service of a most just cause or do you join the Loyalists and do less horrific acts in the cause of slavery and oppression.
No disgust here, because I recognize that people have had to make these choices for most of human history. It's only because of our modern society that we have the luxury of being disgusted by these acts. In other parts of the world and in our own recent past, we would be making these choices ourselves.
I believe that the loyalist path has some merit though, sacrificing the few for the safety of the many, sounds ok in theory. But what is done to the Seers for instance makes my stomach churn. -
Quote:I liked that bit too. I'm still not too sure whether I'd side with Cole or not if I had only 1 character. Cole himself doesn't seem that bad, and at least he has a noble goal in mind. Most of the Praetors are crackpots though, if not full blown psychopats. I like White, at least he's honest. But Duncan is way off the deep end. She's a sadist and a sociopath, real serial killer material.... is my favorite ending of a story arc in the game.
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Neuron#Aid_the_Loyalists
I couldn't imagine bringing myself to side with the Resistance after this.
"Too many have already forgotten how hubris nearly destroyed us all."
What I found dissapointing about that arc though, was the actual fight with The Olympian. You get warned that he's going to be a challenge and that you need to bring friends. I was thinking "Yippie, solo EB fight!". I like those. I enter the mission and discover that he's just a lieutenant ... 10 seconds and 1 Assassins strike later and the mission's over. Anticlimax. -
Quote:It is nice to see the whole of Union being unplayable is so important that all the devs get paged and dragged into the office to fix it...
Yes, if they just would page BaB out of bed he could animate the server problems away ...
The servers are in Frankfurt, Germany. The Devs, who most likely can't fix anything anyway, since they're not from the server hosting facility, are in the US.
Think before you make complaints people. -
I can get as far as the character selection screen, if I try to enter the game just freezes and crashes...
Defiant works fine. Unfortunatly I don't play there ... -
Quote:Tell me, what do you expect them to say?The Devs/Marketing/Community team had ca 2 weeks and over 50 pages of overwhelmingly negative posting in the initial announcement thread that they never responded to either. PMs too.
At this point I will be (pleasantly) surprised if we get any red-name response, which is a damn shame, because Pragon has usually been very good about communicating with the player base. -
Quote:And they still do.
I hate quoting time playing this game but suffice it to say there once was a time they "DID" give emotes away for free with issues ..
Quote:The trent they are setting here is clear. I don't like nor do I have to like it, they asked for discussion im giving it.
Quote:If your confused then I feel sorry for you. It's really quite simple.
The devs have more than once stated that the revenue created from these packs is injected back into the development of the game. Of course those evil corporate money grubbers could always be lying to you while secretely rolling around in their money warehouses.
Now, does this mean that you can't question anything and must just buy everything they throw at us? No of course not. I'm not buying this pack for instance, there's nothing in there that I will use more than a handfull of times, it's not worth it to me. Not at this price anyway. I hope that the next pack of this type gets released at a lower price. Like, half of what it is now.
But at least see things in perspective. Some of the reactions here really crack me up. -
Quote:People lik you confuse me. Now it's offensive for companies to make money? We still get the free issues. All we get to buy is fluff. Overpriced fluff in this case, but fluff none the less.I disagree with most people here
Nothing should have been added because this should have been given free or added to GR or I19
Like you used to do before the company decided to become all about the $ and less about the players/customers
Once upon a time there was a company that bragged about free content to gaming magazines and websites now that same company had died in my eyes.
I'm done with packs ive boughten all but the wedding pack .. Mostly to show support and give something back to COH and help keep it alive a little longer.
After seeing this rediculous offering I dont know wether to "lol" @ the marketers/devs or to cry and prepare my departure.
The direction your going in usually marks the end for me, money grubbing is a sure sign of a company I want no part in.
Sad very sad -
Quote:However there seem to be number of players who somehow interpret this as NCSoft/Paragon Studios insulting their mother and then kicking their puppy for added insult and react in all sorts of juvinile and out of proportion ways, throwing around insults and dragging up all sorts of perceived past slights in the process .
Quote:I haven't changed my views from what I posted in this post here.
This is a dross pack. By releasing it NC are (rightly in my view) going to be accused of gouging.
NC aren't providing added-value right now to over come the fact that they are selling luxury item in a tough economic climate with increasing competition.
Free updates finally got me to pay for a MMO. Great customer service, infrequent (and totally optional) pay-for updates and good gameplay with lots of elements (TF, badging, costumes, bases, FotM builds, concept chars etc etc) with a helpful and nice community got me to stay.
1) This pack. I don't care how drunk you were at the office party, this was a dumb idea. Minimal content, limited appeal and vastly overpriced.
2) Every update is more buggy than the last. (Flagship expansion released with a bug where you are able to kill your team mates and yet you have focused on colour coding the team search box? It's too complex and anyone who is colour blind will hate it; same with the red/green doors in Praetoria missions.)
3) The nerf to xp when any AE mission has more than one rescue captive (non fighting)/destroy object. You said it would be fixed in i17 and then with GR. So far I see absolutely no change. You lied. AE is a wasteland. Even a TF like the ITF told in AE doesn't get decent XP. You flushed an entire edition down the toilet. A free edition but it was another flagship. Is this the new plan? Release an edition, mess it up within weeks and then ignore it hoping people will focus on the next shiny?
4) I don't believe you are thinking about the players right now. The ridiculous inability for rogues/vigs to use the base of their team leader shows that. You are no doubt data mining how many are hero/vig/rogue/vill and yet this one choice of yours means many will go vig because they can access the TFs of both sides and don't have to deal with the transportation issues you created for rogues on blueside because red is very easy to navigate.
Over the past two years, service and quality has been eroded. This pack is the latest demonstration of that in my view. -

Jump Kick actually does make a lot of sense. Without something to push off from you'd never be able to execute that move let alone put any real force behind it.

Quote:I never was under the impression that only 'rage quitters' hate this emote pack. I'm not all that charmed by it myself. Limited appeal + high price = meh. There are plenty of people who speak out against this pack for various reasons, that are perfectly reasonable. You are partially correct, I have in fact made my opinion known on four different threads. They were all threads set up as discussion threads by Paragon Studios, not some individual players. I take it that means that they WANT feedback, so I made my opinion known. I have also done my best to correct people like you that seems to feel only the "Rage Quitters" or some other subset of immature players hate this "Emote Pack".
I learned a long time ago that if you want to be heard, you have to be loud, otherwise you get drowned out by the general din.
However there seem to be number of players who somehow interpret this as NCSoft/Paragon Studios insulting their mother and then kicking their puppy for added insult and react in all sorts of juvinile and out of proportion ways, throwing around insults and dragging up all sorts of perceived past slights in the process (Being ripped off, because they released the Complete Collection item pack for a few bucks so the prepurchasers can have a go at them, really?).
Of course they want feedback, but non constructive criticism hardly helps your cause. The best you can hope for is entertaining me while I'm bored with nothing to do at work. -
Quote:They did that with the bpnus items from previously released versions of the game. Plus they announced well ahead of time that it would be like this ... The GR item pack was even cheaper than the $10 they charged for the Mac edition item pack and the Good Vs Evil edition item pack ...Epic Fail in my opinion after ripping the GR preorders by releasing the added content that was left out of it for a few bucks more.
Failure to inform yourself does not give you the right feel 'ripped'.
Well, you have the right to feel whatever you want. You'll just look like a fool when griping about it. -
It's probably just that. I've had it happen to me 2 weeks ago. Just turn them back on and it should be ok again.
-
Quote:If you didn't think the Wedding pack was worth it, you shouldn't have bought it. Assigning any blame for that to the devs is just misguided. You made the decission to buy nobody forced you.Actually TrueMetal, I did not say I was quitting, please do not lie about what I did say. I said I am looking for something else to occupy my time. If I find something that is as fun as this game, then I will quit. This has nothing to do with rage, it has to do with being tired of buggy updates that take weeks to fix, less and less "free" content to keep me purchasing the monthly subscription and more and more of the paid upgrades. I was very forgiving of the "Wedding Pack" I bought, even though I have never used a single piece of it. Now, the packs (IMO) have less and less, but I have to pay the same price for it. Yea, I know the "Emote Pack" is a little cheaper, but not as cheap as the content in it.
And if you'd be objective you'd see that the super booster packs have actually INCREASED in number of items since the wedding pack. (The mutant super booster might have been a bit less in number of individual pieces, but in overall quality of pieces it was, for me, definitely the best one.) If there is less in it FOR YOU specificly, well that's hardly anyones fault. Tastes differ.
Quote:The funny thing is, I have no problem paying $10.00 US for a decent pack with enough content. I wouldn't have had a problem with this pack if the price was more reasonable, say $.25 US per emote. I still would not have bought it, but the idea they were selling it would not have bothered me. I believe that they would easily have tripled the money they make on this pack if they did, based on what I was reading in the forums.
Quote:The road I see ahead though, seems to be steering to wards buy a Task Force or buy more maps for your AE building experience. I keep wondering when I will have to buy my next Issue Update. I could be wrong, but it does seem to be the next logical step in this "Emote Pack" experiment. I will tell you now, the day I see that announcement, I will quit immediately. -
Quote:Why the outcry for a redname response? What do you expect them to say? "We were wrong"? You're not getting that. And maybe they aren't even 'wrong', maybe they already got the projected number of sales. Who knows. Besides bringing out a product that you, for whatever reasons don't find up to standards is hardly an offense in need of elaborate appologies. The product does what it says on the tin, noone is deceived or tricked or cheated or whatever.Passing as well. A Party Pack has so much potential. Even if it had just a couple of extra costume bits I probably would have gotten it.
And I absolutely cannot believe no CoH Rep has even responded. Maybe marketing is forcing hands here, and Mods/Devs are just too embarrased to comment on it -
You don't go to many rock concerts do you?
-
Quote:I'm sure Babs and the animations team will get right on animating all those pesky bugs away.Seriously, you guys could have work on more important things that have been bugged for weeks or months? I think youve wasted your time and resources working on a booster pack that maybe 1% or less of your population would even buy.
How about looking through the Suggestions and Ideas thread, maybe pick up on a few ideas there. Why not work on something weve all been asking for years? Instead you give us this
No thanks....I'll pass. -
Quote:It was? Over here GR cost €20(cheap/standard price for an expansion) CoH and CoV Cost €50 each (standard price for a stanalone game). That's a considerable difference. The complete collection is only €30 even. So that's actually cheaper than a new full game.Major lack of emotes or costume pieces in Going Rogue especially compared to what came out in City of Heroes and City of Villains and this was the same cost as those.
Quote:Now this just emote Party Pack? I played for 3 years and I rarely if ever use emotes.
Quote:And this is 7.99 which is just 2 dollars less than a Costume Pack?! Huh?!
Quote:And Going Rogue officially came out last month? How come these emotes were not in Going Rogue?
Quote:I am have no desire for emotes or need to just buy emotes.
[Edit] changed prices. GR was even cheaper than I remembered. -
Quote:I really, really don't get the anger this pack is generating. If you don't think this pack is worth than just don't buy it. That'll teach'em. I don't get the need to get all bent out of shape about it.Yes, let the partying begin, not that there's anything worth partying about what with this pack being a steaming brown pile left behind from a bad pet that the devs decided to step in without looking.
Hey, Marketing team! Get your heads out of your ***** and listen up! Another pack like this and you can kiss any non-subscription purchases goodbye in the future. I prepurchased GR the day it was available, KNOWING that I was screwing myself out of a free month by not waiting for the complete collection. I purchased the Complete Collection item pack just to snag what I missed by not waiting...except for that free month. I bought the Mutant pack simply because I had bought everything else that you had put out and didn't think there was good reason to deny myself extra costumes.
I will not be purchasing this lackluster piece of complete excrement. Yes I use emotes to kill time, no, I see no purpose to buying emotes at a dollar apiece. No costume pieces = no money from me. Heck, I get decent use out of the wedding pack and that was bought purely for the costumes.
And to marketing: Don't get cute and throw up all over yourselves in excitement thinking that you can goad people like me into buying a pack for ONE costume piece. The wolf tail did not sway my purchase of the mutant pack, and I wouldn't spend a cent on a 'costume accessory' pack to this so-called 'party' pack since that pack would be tarnished by association and even moreso by being sold SEPARATELY. -
Too some people it is. No value to you =/= no value at all. For me personally for example it has value, however, I'm not quite sure yet if it's $7.99 of value.

Quote:It's the new fad in modern fantasy, dark, gory and depressing. If you don't like it you should definatly NOT read the brilliant, dark, gory and depressing First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie or his even more brilliant, dark, gory and drepressing stand alone Best Served Cold.when i first heard about the series getting made, and after flipping through the Song of Fire and Ice RPG, i thought it was time to at least grab the first three books of the series and give them a read through. after getting through the first one and most of the second, i am looking a lot less forward to the miniseries, and might just give it a pass altogether. it's not that the writing is bad, it isn't. but dear gawds is A Game of Thrones just utterly gorram depressing. worse, far too many of the characters i like either get offed or they don't get enough 'screentime' to make up for having to put with characters i generally despise. it doesn't get much better in the second book, and after a while i just had to walk away.
i might go back and finish up the three i picked up eventually, but i dont know now if i really want to see what an onscreen adaptation of the series is going to be like. -
Apart from the weapon based sets (mostly) nothing makes sense. There isn't any conceivable way you could logically explain how the human body can generate enough energy to create a 80 foot long burst of flame out of thin air. Unless you go with magic (but that's not really logic anymore is it?) or technology-so-advanced-it-might-as-well-be-magic.
-
Did you properly deinstall the old drivers everytime you installed new ones?
If not then doing that, maybe even running a driver cleaner, and then installing the latest version could help.
If you already did all that, it might be an overheating problem. Open your case and remove the dust from heatsinks and fans (canned air, don't let the fans spin!! ) and try again. -
Quote:Wasn't that removed in a patch? The 5 activations part anyway. The normal Mass Effect PC version has SecuROM v7.37.0012 w/5 activations. According to ReclaimYourGame.com. I see no indication that they would remove it from the Steam version, IMO.
And didn't Me2 launch without DRM at all?
